Na Cozinha - centro de gastronomia
Stumbled across this restaurant and cooking school a few blocks from our hotel. It's in a very modest space with maybe a dozen tables. We were heading to have the usual brunch and thought we might do something different and, boy, are we happy we did.
Started off with a delicious juice mixture of pineapple, mint, soda and apple syrup. Fantastic. I then had an iced coffee made from excellent espresso.
The first course was miniature beef pasteles - absolutely beautiful! They were served with finely diced, pickled tomatoes and also a chile oil which was particularly good.
The main course was Moqueca and was served in a pipping hot dish, still bubbling. There was no fishy taste - just beautifully simmered tomatoes, onions, garlic and cilantro and seasonings served with white rice and onion farofa. A perfect meal for a Saturday afternoon.
The people working there were charming and took pride in every aspect of what they were doing and preparing.
I highly recommend this place. read more
