Despite having several very good Vietnamese restaurants to choose from near home, I wanted to give this one a try. In the end, it's not a place I will return to. I ordered a beef banh mi and egg rolls. The egg rolls were decent, but nothing better than other places I've tried. The sandwich lacked flavor overall and the beef was overcooked, dry and fatty; also lacking in flavor. I really don't get "authentic Vietnamese" vibes from this place. The service was friendly enough, but the overall experience and food quality was lacking. No one in my family wanted to finish their beef banh mi sandwiches, so I attempted to eat the leftovers for lunch the next day, and it was even worse. It truly pains me to write this review. I have been a regular customer at N-GON Viet Subs in Brockton for years, and I am a neighbor of the owning family. I used to go there weekly, before a medical situation slowed me down. As their neighbor, I have brought their dogs back home to them on more than one occasion. Today I was able to drive for the first time after surgery. I went to get a meal from their drive through as a celebration, and was truly excited. Without getting into details, I had a medical equipment malfunction which cause me to emergently need a bathroom, so I went inside. I was told the bathroom was closed because "customers destroyed it." I asked please if I could use the employee restroom because I was having a medical equipment malfunction. The girl stated it was not open to the public and I reminded her I just bought the meal in the drive through. She asked in her headset and told me a few stories: they have no bathroom, someone is using the bathroom, they have no employee bathroom, customers destroy the bathroom, there are "machines" all over the bathroom. I told her I'm sorry, but please, this is a medical situation, I've paid for my food and this is an emergency. I ask for the manager and she says, "I AM the manager!" I reiterated, I cannot make it elsewhere. I have a disability. Please. She loses her tempter and she just leaves. I'm panicking as this is truly an emergency, trying the locked bathroom and trying to come up with another option. One of the owners comes out and I ask him please can I use the bathroom it is a medical equipment EMERGENCY. He says customers destroyed the restroom so now there's no restroom. I told him, "I am not going to destroy it and I can't make it elsewhere. Please, I am your neighbor." He is just standing there and I am physically shaking. Now I am in a panic. I say, "It is now at the point where you can let me use their bathroom or clean it up from the floor. If you don't let me use the bathroom I am writing a negative review." So he's like, "Okay, okay!" and starts leading me back. I was relieved and literally going to tip them both $10 on the way out. Abruptly, he turns around and puffs up and says, "You're not going to threaten me!" I'm like "What?" He says, "You said you would write a negative review and that is THREATENING! We don't tolerate threats in here!" He went from 0 to 100. I just left out and went to Cumberland Farms. Again, avoiding details, the situation was not okay, but would have been okay if they N-Gon had just let me use a bathroom. Adjusted myself enough to grab my food and go home. I went back in to to get my food and he says he is going to refund my money also. I am thinking okay, that's appropriate. Then again he does a switch. A customer comes in and he puts his hands up and starts saying, "I will give you the money! You threatened us! But I'll just give you the money!" Essentially it looked as if I was robbing them. I'm standing there in shock, and then I actually started shaking. I shout at him in front of the customer, "I never threatened you. You chose to give me my money back. I said I would write a negative review and you said you interpreted that as a threat." He's like, "That IS a threat! I feel threatened!" I'm like, "You have QR codes all over asking for reviews you are not in any way being threatened. You are completely safe! Give me my money and I'm going home!" Then another customer comes in and he starts again with, "We're all being threatened! We'll just give you money!" This new customer is looking looking mortified so I reiterate, "I said I would write a negative review at no point have you been threatened. I'm handicapped and I'm literally your neighbor. You said you wanted to give me a refund that I never asked for. You are completely safe and no one is threatening you." He's still going and going without giving me my money. He is carrying on about the definition of a "threat" in "business terms" and how I am to "approach" him. Finally I took my food and said, "Frankly you're sexist if you're gonna leave me standing there in pain, unable to go to the bathroom while you're the one shouting at me behind a hallway that you're being threatened. I think you need a reality check." (Of course to him this is also a "threat.") He claimed to cancel the transaction in the system, to refund me, but on my online banking, it shows the transaction went through without any refund to me. He told me "Have a great rest of your day" with a smile and then goes "AND NEVER COME BACK!" I said, "I already told you I'm never coming back!" I estimate I've eaten there more than 100 times and I've never seen or experienced anything like this. I want to point out that all of the employees beside that one owner appeared very young such as possibly high school age or close to it which leaves me a bit uneasy. I also want to remind them that I literally caught their two PITBULLS from the middle of the road. read more

I am surprised to see that there's a bahn mi joint in Brockton area. Usually I need to go to either Quincy or Dorchester for this. I ordered their Pork sandwich, cold cut sandwich, and pork rice plate on grub-hub. They are delicious, and now I know that i won't have to go far away for Vietsub. I decided to check out N-GON for lunch. It is a decent place to get a Vietnamese inspired sub for a quick grab and go. My grilled beef sub was flavorful, but the bánh mì was soft and chewy. It wasn't cut in half and the juices were soaking through the bag, making for a messy lunch. The avocado smoothie was decent and the boba was okay. I would say this place is good for the area and for a Vietnamese inspired or fusion sub, but I can't say that it is authentic Vietnamese. The bread was nice and hard which gave a nice crunch. The bowl meal would have been perfect but the beef only had a hint of the flavor. The flavor was really good but was just hardly there. The egg rolls were good but need a sweet and sour or some sort of dipping sauce. The smooth was pretty mid. Apparently is premade and just gets mixed. Egg rolls had no flavor , spring rolls had unclean shrimp ( yuck) nothing like brown in your clear rice wrapper. My husband and I got the chicken bahn mi his was spicy mine was regular. Both were inhaled in the car ride before getting home. Wouldn't recommend doing that simply because of the crumb situation. I ordered the spring rolls as well as an order of egg rolls and let me tell you...baby I INHALED THE BOFFUM!! So you know I had to go back for more. Decided to try them through DoorDash and made a trip there the next day for seconds I've tried the BBQ Pork bahn mi via DoorDash which was yummy, but there were bits of fatty pieces that I could've done without. If you have not tried this place, you must .Absolutely delicious and fresh tasting. We ordered the chicken and beef subs. Along with a chicken plate and a couple sides of crisps. The subs were amazing with a bright fresh flavor. We will go back to try the pork and cold cut versions. The chicken plate is the same chicken that is in the sub just on a plate of rice. This place was featured in the Brockton Enterprise so we decided to try it. Ordered the beef sandwich, egg rolls, chicken rice plate and the taro smoothie. I never ever do reviews but I had to for this place. The sandwich was a-maaazing!!!. We asked for it "spicy" and it did not disappoint. The Vietnamese baguette was crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside- perfection! Chicken rice plate was also incredible. Egg rolls- excellent and dipping sauce was very tasty. Taro smoothie was as described, vanilla or coconut? Doesn't matter it was great.
