The reason I compared it to Auntie Anne's despite having vastly different pretzels is because it was in a small kiosk in the train station, and looked like the kind of place that would be anywhere that kiosks exist. This was the first place we visited after getting to Munich, so we had a bit of culture shock when realizing that not everyone who worked here spoke English. Even getting the check was a struggle--we eventually had to get up and go to a counter ourselves. It felt like the staff had little interest in actually serving the customers. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. All of the pretzels that I tried here were soft, doughy, chewy and tasted amazing. I tried the following items: Honey mustard pretzel (€2.80 = $3 USD) - the honey mustard provided a nice tang taste. Pretzel obatzda (€3.20 = $3.45 USD) - obatzda has a cream consistency with a robust taste similar to a mild cheddar. Pretzel butter (€2 = $2.15 USD) - rich, creamy and buttery, this was my favorite. Overall, this is an extremely reasonably priced snack and I found the pretzels here to be the best that I tried on my German trip. Service was friendly and there isn't any seating, only 2 standing communal tables.

The service at Haufbrauhaus was terrible. I ordered a seasonal beer and it was fantastic and the outside seating was wonderful on a perfect day. Our server was awesome and spoke perfect english. I ordered the charcuterie board and it had a couple of hummus scoops and a beef stick and this scoop of stuff that was way too rich for me with pieces of butter in it, but the Germans love it. The pretzels that came with it were great and the cream cheese scoop went perfectly on the pretzel. One of the best meals in Munich, give it a try.
