Dan was a pleasure to work with. I shopped five quotes to pull up my downstairs carpet and install…read morehardwood floor to match my upstairs. It was actually great that I met him first of all five because he seemed very knowledgeable and mentioned a few things that I asked the other four floor contractors about (which the other four didn't bring up until I mentioned it, whereas Dan brought it to my attention). I never even heard back from two of the five contractors. He followed up roughly two or three days after I received his bid, and got back to me by email or phone within 24 hours of any message. I did find phone was better for him than email (maybe because he isn't sitting in front of a computer and it is much easier to see a text message than an email). I asked for a quote to provide the lumber and another for me to provide the lumber. The pricing he provided for the lumber was very responsible, but it worked out that I had a connection to get it for a little less so I bought it myself since they delivered directly to my home. We discussed the day he would start and the time frame in which it would be completed. He showed up at the time each day he said he would, kept me updated on a couple items that were unforeseen. Made an extra trip to pick up materials for a unique detail around my fireplace and at the front door and it all came out great. He worked well with my schedule, was polite, professional, and did great work. A little damage occurred to the bottom of a section of wall during removal of baseboard, and he repaired without me even asking for it. Another interesting note is I moved in to this home with the same hardwood floor already in place upstairs (about 9 years ago it was done) and happened to know the exact product since there was a box left over. Upstairs hardwood feels inferior to the work Dan did downstairs for me. Definitely recommend him. The work he did for me was only about 400 s.f., so probably a smaller job in comparison to a full home, but I am sure he does all types and sizes.
