I asked her to get me back to the cut I had before (which was by a different stylist, about 5 weeks prior). I swear Allie read my hair like a fortune teller. It makes me really sad that I have to write this review. Upon meeting Dae'na, she has such a bubbly…read morepersonality, I felt an immediate connection with her. She finished doing her mom's hair and she then greeted me to have a consultation about what I wanted with my hair. I told her, I wanted the full highlights as I had bought in the Groupon and she recommended a balayage instead. Having a great conversation thinking she knew what I wanted, I made a last minute decision and told her that I trusted her and I would go with her opinion of the balayage rather than full highlights. In the consultation, I had mentioned that I'm not a very bold person when it comes to changing my hair. When the foils come off, I notice that I am blonde in some sections, orange in others (which she called butterscotch... it's orange) and she made a section right at the top of my head a white piece! I felt like my hair was a candy corn. White, yellow, orange. I was very disappointed that I didn't want to show my face in the photos that she took of the "after" but with her mom in the room making lovely conversation and Dae'na telling me to show my beautiful face, I felt obligated to smile. When you get your hair done, you're supposed to feel excited, and leave LOVING your hair. That wasn't the case. I immediately told Dae'na that it was too light for me. I also said that I was confused as to why the balayage went all the way up to my root, she said that that is an option for balayage. I think she should have mentioned the options of balayage before starting. Dae'na said I just needed some time to get used to the color, that she would check up on me in a week or two to see if I still felt the same way. She kept her word and she did check up on me which I do appreciate. My hair was a hot mess, multiple colors. Photos below. I went in for a color correction but I came out coming out more of a blonde than I have ever been in my life. It bothered me that even after I tipped her the first time, even after my disappointment, she asked that I tip her well for the correction. I just got my hair "corrected" and many people that I tell this story to think that I have gotten my hair done about a month ago because my roots are growing out due to being so blonde... it's been 4 days... and when I tell them that, they're so shocked. I really wanted to write a great review for you Dae'na and I felt that I needed time to write this review because of how great you are as a person and all of the great reviews that you have... I just felt that I didn't get the Dae'na that other people rave about. It's a live and learn lesson, I definitely will not be buying anymore Groupons for hair and I learned that showing visuals rather than simply talking will be way better. I had to learn the hard way that just by saying what you want might not be enough, especially if the hairdresser has their own ideas for your hair. I have had all negative comments towards my hair before I tell them what happened and it makes me regret stepping into your salon not once but twice. I felt that you didn't consider what I wanted in the consultation because you said balayage is supposed to be effortless like light hits the hair softly... there's light all over this hair... too much light.
