What a really great travel spot!…read more Location: could not be better. It's right downtown off of Esplanadi park. It's also walking distance to many bars, restaurants, the main cathedrals, the ferry peir, and the bus/train station. Staff: very friendly and always with a smile. Says a lot considering they probably have to answer the same exact types of questions to each traveler. They man the front desk 24/7 and will buzz you in whenever you choose to return home. They also clean the common areas daily and it shows. Interior: the hostel is all on the 3rd floor (no elevator) on both sides of a main staircase. There are a variety of rooms from doubles to dorms (6 beds). There are also shared bathrooms/showers on either end of the hall. A bit of a rush in the morning, but otherwise not so bad. Misc: a significant amount of hot water heaters (to bond over coffee or tea); a 'free food' section from travelers who couldn't take the food with them; a very large common area/kitchen; a large variety of maps/tips/schedules; and they will print for 1 euro. Loved it, and will come back if I'm ever in the area again!

The room was comfortable for two people and the shared bathrooms were super close! The kitchen facilities are awesome, plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans to use. Free wi-fi which is fast and efficient :) met some well travelled people, varying in age! Overall the experience was great, one downer was some of the reception staff, a smile goes a long way!!

The kitchen is great for cooking and there's a small area where you can watch tv and talk to other guests. Not a lot of noise at night. Also a very easy and simple way of checking out, even in the early hours. Overall, we had a wonderful stay here.

Best about this place: location!…read more This hostel is in centre of town, walkable distance to major sites and good public transport connection to railwaystation/airport. What i liked, apart from what was already mentioned: - rooms very clean (bathrooms not so much) - price - facilities offered (sauna, wifi, kitchen etc) Only 3 stars because the bathrooms and hallway are very smelly.

The location is a little dull but the hostel is nice. When I stayed there they had a yummy breakfast buffet that was very cheap. The hostel was very quiet when I was there too and there isn't any street noise at all.

I booked this Omena after it was recommended by a conference I was attending. First, if you're…read moregoing to stay at an Omenahotel, don't stay this one. Stay at the one around the corner - Lönnrotinkatu, where I stayed one night before moving to this one. First, when I arrived, my room was extremely hot. It turns out this building must be controlled building wide temperature wise. Unlike the Lönnrotinkatu location, where each room has it's own temperature control. It was also dirty, dust bunnies everywhere. I called using the phone in the entry way, which directly connects to customer service, and they moved me to the room above my original room. It was a bit cooler, but still warm. There is no artwork (unlike at Lönnrotinkatu) in the room, the tv is very small and in the "dining" area (unlike Lönnrotinkatu where it's large and you can watch TV in bed), and the bathroom had mold in it and left overs (aka hair) from the previous visitors. I really wasn't impressed. I understand that this hotel is for affordable travel and one step up from a hostel, but, this location was just unclean, disappointing and lacking in cleanliness and care.
I would recommend this hotel, but for the tired, weary, lost soul - and those on a budget. I…read morebooked this place last minute so, my options were limited. There are several Omena in Helsinki, but I think this one is the bottom of the three or so. Although, it does have a microwave, and small fridge and table space for writing as well as a TV/Free Wi-Fi, and large bed, the place appeared unclean. The floors appeared dusty, the bathroom had mold or dust in the vent (right over your head) in the shower. There is no shampoo or soap, so bring your own. The windows can be opened - thank God - it was very warm in the room. I would only recommend this spot for those who can rough it - it is above a Hostel, but below ---- say Motel Six (if you can get my drift) and for my home boys - the Riviera on Atlantic Avenue (2969 Atlantic Avenue) East New York -Brooklyn, may have better rooms! LOL

Why I would recommend this spot to others:…read more -the price: $98 on a Friday night -easy walking distance to the train station, across the street from a food hall and market and a stone's throw from a pretty pond and park -the room was clean (not spacious but what you'd expect for price and an urban setting). Note: we always check the beds for bugs- all clear ;) -impressive complimentary breakfast spread including sausages, deli meats and cheeses, rye oatmeal, yogurt, gluten free options and pastries -they have a room to storage luggage on the first floor

They do not have double bed, only twins according to the reception. The breakfast is ok, limited on the choice of bread and meats (no bacon but meatballs that are mass produced). Strongpoint is the airport bus stops in front of the hotel (615TK or 615) and it is relatively inexpensive (for skandinavian hotels) and above all free internet
