This is a visit to an old friend's you've never met, not a restaurant. At first glance it is a small and humble place with seating for maybe 30 people not including the patio. The ceiling is adorned with sprawling vines and white lights. Colours of yellow, white and blue are the palette for the decor. I was there for a special birthday dinner, party of 12. We were seated together and the menu was set. For the next 2 hours the lovely waitress and one of the owners, Marie, brought us appetizer after appetizer. She quickly removed dirty dishes and freshened our drinks. The night started with warm bread, Homous and Tzatziki followed by Greek salad. Then they brought out the hot appetizers: Saganaki Greek Cheese, Dolmades, Keftedes and Loukaniko. I only ate the bread and Homous however my family was raving about all of it especially the Saganaki Greek Cheese. For the main dishes we were served Roast Lamb Kleftiko and Chicken Souvlaki with vegetables, roast potatoes, rice and Tzatziki. The potatoes were moist with a wonderful lemon flavour. Many members of my family were not fans of lamb. However, after trying it they loved it. As for vegan options I was really limited here. But the service was amazing. The couple who owns this place are warm and sincere. The experience alone was worth eating a lot of potatoes and bread. read more

Five stars all the way. I made a reservation on a Wednesday for the Saturday seating. Party of four. Seated right away with a glass of water. We were told the specials. I asked if the moussaka was available and she said she made one that day. Orders taken in a timely fashion. For wine, the Boutari is probably your best bet. Only $5.00 more than the house wine. Lovely, gigantic portions served up quickly. Lamb shank was a winner. My moussaka ($30) was to die for. The pork souvlaki was also tasty and the Pastitsio was huge. Had to be taken home. All came with rice, roasted potatoes, buttery green beans and carrots. The Pastitsio came with Greek salad instead of veggies. They accidentally spilled my mom's tea onto her dinner so they gave her a new order immediately with a new tea. They apologized all over the place. We got a huge piece of freshly baked baklava to share and a cup of coffee on the house. This lady hosts, cooks and serves. Her fella also serves and busses. She told us she is from Cyprus. Shared a story about desserts from her childhood. I'm so happy that they don't allow kids after 6pm. Sorry for all you young families, but I will pay good money not to listen to your kids. read more

It was our second time to visit Mythos. The ambience is a homey and lovely setting. However, we felt that our second visit wasn't that great compare to our first visit. The only reason we came back because my partner's father came to the country and wanted to have some Greek foods. We reminded him that Ouzo won't be served free like he has when he goes to Greek restaurant in the Netherlands. We ordered a Taverna Platter as our first visit order. The platter came with fresh Greek salad with warm pita that was served with warm tzatziki and yummy garlicky homous to start with. Saganaki cheese, lamb shank, chicken souvlaki, 2 dolmades (stuffed beef and rice in grape leaves), 2 keftedes (fried meatballs) and roast potatoes. The foods were good but they weren't extraordinary that made us would come back for the third time. I thought his dad's food was overpriced for mousaka as the meat is just ground beef and it wasn't in a big portion of meat either. He didn't like the taste of Mousaka and didn't finish the food. I know he is a bit picky toward foods. When I tasted the food, I felt like they could do better than what they served if we compared to the price that we've paid. read more

Greeted quickly by the friendly server who offered a choice of seats. Ambient music is charming and culturally appropriate. Ordered the Saganaki which came at a decent time. Gooey and delicious, delightfully decadent. Rack of lamb took about 30 minutes to arrive, smelled quite delicious. A little overcooked, but the flavour was on point. The accoutrements were well flavoured. Easily the best side of carrots I've ever had. The homemade tzatziki was creamy and a perfect accompaniment to the well seasoned potatoes. Service was quick and to the point, the menu included many traditional options- unfortunately the moussaka was unavailable at this time. The food came out in a timely manner and our server was attentive to our enjoyment of our meals. Overall good food and a great environment. Came with our two teen / tween girls. We shared appetizer platter, tried the soup on special, Greek ribs and chicken souvlaki. The girls had dessert which we shared. Amazing service. Authentic flavours. Souvlaki was tender and flavourful, Greek ribs were more traditional then my daughter expected and she thought them bland. We spritzed them with lemon and they were tender and better. Desserts tried were Creme caramel and bougatsa. The bougatsa was right out of the oven and amazing. read more

I came in with my daughter, 2 year old grandson and newborn granddaughter for lunch. The restaurant had just opened and there were only a few other guests. My grandson was playing quietly in his highchair and enjoying his food. Suddenly he let out a scream and just as my daughter was trying to tell him to use his inside voice, the owner came out and in a loud and booming voice angrily told us that he did not like small children in his restaurant and that it was bad for his business. I have never experienced being treated like this in a restaurant. We left without eating our food and will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. My daughter spent many years working in the restaurant industry, understands correct restaurant etiquette and works diligently at teaching her children to behave in a respectful manner. read more

Enjoyed dinner immensely here. There were four of us and we were greeted by the friendly owner and wife of the chef. Had the Cyprus Mesas dinner which everything was delicious. Mythos has a definite family feel and it makes you feel like you're over for dinner at their home. We were entertained by some dancing from the chef and breaking of plates. Not over the top but like you would imagine in a traditional setting. The baklava for dessert was unreal and made by the chefs wife. Highly recommend coming here! read more

This was the most horrible experience in my entire life. I can say that I am still in shock and traumatized. I went for a dinner with my husband to this Mythos Greek Tavern in Edmonton and my husband asked the waitress for pita bread and she said that it was $3 extra, my husband just made a comment that in other creek restaurants it was giving with the food and the waitress started yelling to us and then the chef came out and started yelling to us, I was with my head down and I couldn't believe that it was happening to us. I have been in many countries, many restaurants and many cultures and I haven't seen something like that. How this people treated us is a BiG WOW. Plates are over price too. First time here. Really excellent food served in a nice room. Chicken souvlaki plate was large, with perfectly cooked potatoes and yummy chicken breast. I parked right in front of the restaurant and a staff person came out and yelled at me for parking then berated me about how long I was going to be there. My son attends music next door and I had planned on catching a solo bite to eat at Mythos while he had his lesson. Instead the utter rudeness of the Mythos staff completely turned me off of dinning there. They changed their menu prices so be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for food you can get cheaper elsewhere. Location is far too small for a restaurant like this so you end up hearing the table beside you snort down their lamb chops like a barbarian. A wait staff of 2 frantically tries to serve everyone which causes an avg. mealtime of 3 hrs so bring a book. The cook makes guest appearances but really is just turning the open sign to close because they are far too busy for them to handle. This was the most horrible experience I ever had in a restaurant. The waitress was rude loud and did not one to see the someplace else after we complain that we were call because of the draft by the door. After we were seated and order our meal we waited a long time for the dinner. We ask if pita bread was a complimentary for the meal and she immediately got defensive and told us that we have to pay extra for the pita bread... I told her that in all their regret restaurant that we have been in the Pitabread with a complimentary to the meal and she said no that was not like In other restaurant and she was extremely rude and defensive. The chef came out and told us that the minute that we came in we started complaining.that we should have order take out. We were shocked by the way he was Talking to us, Screaming yelling.. We will never go back to Dot restaurant and I hope this review can be read by many others read more
