The downright best luthier/repair artist I've ever had. He's usually got a bit of a backlog (I…read moremean, the secret is out at this point) but it's worth every week you need to wait. Other's have already said it, I'm just here to concur. Jon always goes above and beyond. Had an 80's explorer that needed an overhaul on the neck and a refret job, as well as wiring replaced for some new pickups. He did it all and threw in some new switches and tuners for free b/c he noticed the old ones were jank. Next time I took my new 7 string to get the guts removed and install some BareKnuckles, which he needed to carve some space in the body in order for them to fit (you'd never know, it looks like it was built for them) and then custom rigged the pickups to make use of the push/pull tone knob to use the previous pickup's passive battery as a gain boost, a la tubescreamer, but built right into the guitar itself! Cannot recommend Jon enough.

The quality of the work was top notch! In one case he stayed past the store's closing time (on a Saturday, no less) to complete the repair which was very much appreciated, since it meant the instrument was available for an important audition the following week. The office staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We have a Strait Music much closer to us, but when we can, we don't mind driving a little further to BTN for the top notch service!

I purchased a guitar from Guitar Center that had a minor crack on the neck (I was assured by their sales team that it was superficial)... after the first couple times playing it, the crack grew about 2 inches. I went to Jason to get his opinion on the best course of action for repair if necessary. He diagnosed the guitar in an expedient manor, and came to the conclusion that the repair wouldn't be worth it cost wise against the cost of the guitar, and recommended that I purchase a new one instead. I explained to him that it was under the "No Refunds" guidelines set forth at GC for specific items. He ended up calling me the next evening and had a game plan on how to get around their policy, and offered up suggestions for replacement that wouldn't break the bank. So not only did he have one of the most personable customer service experiences that I've ever had, on top of genuinely being a good dude... he also has my business for life on setup, adjustments, maintenance and more than likely lessons. I contacted him on Yelp, but he may also be contacted on his website. I received an email within an hour containing a couple of questions to hone in on what the job required. I responded to his email to which he responded with a price quote and link to schedule me to deliver my guitar. Yet that day after it was delivered he sent email with photos and a checklist of what he inspected on the guitar. The next day I received email informing me that the job was complete, with a link to schedule pickup the next day. I spent about 15 minutes playing and discussing the guitar with him. The action seemed a little too high, but that is what I asked for. I took it home and after playing it for a day decided I wanted to bring the action down a little. I scheduled a time slot for the next day, and he spent the time with me that was necessary to get it right. The quick turn around and willingness to work with me until we got it right are important to me. He was easy to talk to and patient with my questions and needs. I am happy with the overall experience and will certainly consider him for my future guitar maintenance needs.
