Austin Vintage Guitars - This resistor isn't even soldered into the turret

Austin Vintage Guitars

(74 reviews)

Hancock, Hyde Park

When I have time to kill on business trips, I usually find myself looking for a guitar shop. Man…read morewas unhappy to find Austin Vintage Guitar. Absolutely incredible collection and super nice folks working there as well. I spent about half an hour looking at the guitars and playing a few, but never felt rushed or pressured. They probably would've let me hang out there a few more hours if I'd had the time. Bought a really cool T-shirt as a gift for my daughter who is also a Guitarist. Hope to be back someday with a little more spending money in my pocket.

so I work on Amps but I can only do basic things like re-bias my amps - or replace filter caps, but…read moregetting into the circuit is beyond me. So, I took my highly modified, not by me, vibrolux reverb (77) to Austin vintage guitars to get put back to stock. I had already done the filter caps and only needed the circuit to be returned to a stock state. Well, almost $400 later I got the amp back. I did not play it much in the proceeding months when I finally got back to it, I noticed that one of the power tubes was red plating. I opened it up and found some bias resistors were not soldered into the turret holes and one was loose. Now granted a lot of work had been done on this previous to this so those resistors may not have been changed by the tech - but considering how much I paid for this repair, I would assume they would go through the whole circuit and make sure that the amp was sound. The more I look the more I saw what a hack job this was and I could've done this easily with my skills. Although I had heard good things, I was not impressed by the that was done on this amp for nearly half the price that I paid for the amp to begin with. Oh, and the guy helping me at the counter was a total asshole too.

Space ATX - Standard rehearsal room

Space ATX

(14 reviews)

I LOVE this rehearsal space!!…read more One of my bands regularly rehearses here, and my other band will start using it regularly once we start back up later this year. The rooms are clean (so are the bathrooms), and well-equipped with mic stands, a PA system, monitors and speakers, plus they have cords on loan if they're needed. The prices are very competitive, and it's a very accessible location. I also like that we're not sweating our arses off during our rehearsals because they have great central air.

I was in a garage band in college almost 2 decades ago, and we occasionally get together to jam,…read morebut recently we decided we wanted to rent a room in a studio to jam. Looking at all the options in the Austin area, Space ATX was convenient, affordable, and we just liked the overall vibe. The space itself is deceptively big. The exterior is relatively modern and inviting. The entrance and lobby is a funky, trendy, yet retro. The place is immaculate, and everything looks in order. The staff is helpful and professional You can choose from standard rooms, large rooms, rooms for recording audio or video. The rooms have an hourly and daily rate. The rooms provide solid acoustics, and they keep any unwanted external noise out Some tips: It's a much better deal to go with the daily rate, and honestly, it's incredibly affordable. The large room can be reserved for the day for just over $200. And this reservation goes past midnight into the morning if you need. It's BYOB, so, bring a cooler and drinks. The rooms get a little warm, so, I would consider bringing a fan or two We had a blast getting the band back together, and while we were taking a break outside on one of the benches, we watched so many bands and solo artists funnel in and out, and we thought to ourselves... what if these guys or this person is the next big thing. What if we are? It was exciting, and we had an amazing time Cheers!!
