I enjoy Indian food and more recently have enjoyed lovely meals at "Honey Moon" in Hounslow and "Chennai Dosa" in New Malden. I've always been informed that North Indian and South Indian food can be very different, even for items that are identically named. Nevertheless, I still felt a brave and ordered the paratha and puree along with some coconut rice. Instead of being a golden brown aromatic and tasty delight, the paratha resembled a piece of cardboard soaked in oil. Of the three slices, the five of us could only eat half of one between us, I couldn't help but feel that it had been cooked the previous day and then dropped in some hot oil ready to be picked up. The puree was an improvement and at least we edible enough to be finished. As for the coconut rice, I'm afraid this joined the paratha in our composting bin. I expected fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk but what we got was rice with desiccated coconut mixed in as an after thought. The taste was fair but I couldn't help but wonder if I was eating rice with wet wood shavings in my rice. I think there was a era when this restaurant would have been good but in modern times where people are more discerning and demand experiences beyond order 'the hottest curry' on the menu, I don't think there is a place for second rate food. read more
