After nearly two weeks of walking around Germany and the Czech Republic, with blistered feet and a sore back, a little R&R was severely needed. There are tons of options for Thai massages etc. in Prague, but we somehow ended up calling Mystic Temple after only a few minutes of research, which, could have been risky, but it ended up a-okay. They have a big variety of services and different types of massages they offer, even laser hair removal, facials, and the like. I remember reading about one massage that used seashells as a means of massage, a massage that claimed to be a body slimmer, and one called "Egyptian Queen," which was more of a facial treatment using ancient anti-aging techniques that sounded interesting. When we called to make an appointment, hoping for something on very short notice.. like within an hour short notice, we were denied, but offered appointments for the very next day, which was good enough. If you go in before 4pm, you get a happy hour discount, so that was cool too. The woman on the phone said I needed to pick my treatment and let her know right then, and without having had a chance to read all the massage descriptions in depth, I panicked and quickly settled on the last one that I had read about, which was called "soap dream," which I will get to in a sec.
The next day as we walked to the spa, the facility was very easy to find (rare for Prague), and walking in, the place was very inviting and adorned with Thai decor, red walls and peaceful music. It was very clean and welcoming and I was happy we chose Mystic Temple over the handful of Thai massage places we had passed by in Old Town that had the girls outside beckoning you in. Almost immediately my masseur came to get me and walked me back into the room where I was told to get nakie. Soap Dream is NOT for the modest. After I stripped down and lied on the bed, the massage began with the masseur basically giving me a sponge bath of sorts. She took warm soap and water and massaged me with it, from my feet to my neck, front and back. Again, this is not for the modest - she was allll up in my business. After this, I showered off before getting more of a traditional massage using warm argan oil. The massage finished up with her doing some cracking and pulling and getting into the knots. Oh, and then she did my hair which was neat. It was 90 minutes of bliss, and she did a great job. The massage was designed to leave you with rejuvenated and glowing skin, and I definitely felt that! My masseur was presumably Thai, and she let me relax and unwind, only asking me a few questions and making pleasant small talk in the beginning and end - nothing ruins a massage like having to make polite chit chat, so I was thankful for the silence. All in all after tip, I think I walked out something like $35 usd poorer, which was an incredible deal! The only thing I could have asked for is if I was offered water or tea or something before my massage started, other than that, I was completely happy with my massage and time at Mystic Temple. read more
