Driving up to the venue, it was nice, but it didn't have quite the "wow" factor that the online photos and videos had led us to expect but it was the customer service that was the biggest disappointment of our visit. We had a scheduled appointment to tour the venue with a staff member. Throughout our entire meeting, she remained seated and wore sunglasses the majority of time. She never offered to walk us through the property or show us the different areas of the event space. Although she had printed pricing sheets sitting in front of her, she initially told us that all of the pricing was available online. While that is true, my daughter eventually had to ask for one of the printed sheets that was already on the table. Since we are just beginning the planning process and had not yet selected a wedding date, we understood that an exact quote could not be provided. However, that should not have prevented us from receiving a proper tour of the venue and learning more about what it has to offer. I eventually asked if I could walk to the ceremony area in the back of the property. The GlassHouse Staff Member said I could, but she did not accompany me or provide any information about the space. As I walked through the ceremony area, I realized it simply wasn't the atmosphere or experience we were looking for. We drove a considerable distance specifically to tour this venue, so the lack of engagement and hospitality was disappointing. A venue tour should leave prospective clients excited and inspired. Instead, we left feeling like our appointment was an inconvenience. During our conversation, the staff member also mentioned that the venue is already booking events into 2028. Congratulations on your success--that certainly speaks to the venue's popularity. However, every prospective client deserves the same level of attention and professionalism, regardless of where they are in their planning journey. Based on our experience, this is not the venue we will be choosing for our daughter's wedding/reception.

If you want to get married here, you have to be very DIY because the clubhouse itself is not a wedding venue. It belongs to the city and is just a venue for you to do what you please. Many people may be turned off by this, but I loved the freedom to hire whoever I wanted. We hired Pascal's Catering, and they were above and beyond awesome. I can't rave about them enough. I wrote a separate review about them. The site itself includes the clubhouse, which has a kitchen and male and female restrooms, and the patio. The clubhouse provides a lot of tables and chairs, if you want specific numbers, look on the website. We got married inside the clubhouse, and had the reception on the patio. The total number of guests was about 75, and that is an extremely comfortable number for the venue. It's not the greatest venue for huge weddings due to limited space. The buffet was set up inside the clubhouse after the ceremony ended. A huge warning ... the clubhouse is not air conditioned. Lucky for us the temperature dropped into the 80's on our wedding day, and so we did not have an issue with this. But, people have rented swamp coolers and AC units etc for those hot summer days, I've heard. Booking the clubhouse was a bit of a pain. You can book it first come first serve 6 months in advance. Other than that, there's a lottery system if you want to book 10 months out. We did the first come first serve ordeal. There were a handful of dates in Sept that hadn't been reserved already by the lottery system. So, on the first Monday of each month, you are able to show up at COA office and reserve your venue on a first come first serve basis for the 6th month out. For example, I wanted Sept 12, so I showed up on the first Monday of March 2015 and stood in line to book the date. I believe the office opens at 8 am, and I showed up at 6:30 am to wait in line. Other people had the same idea and came early to wait in line for their dates as well. Luckily for all of us in line, we all wanted different dates :) A couple that showed up after me wanted the same date. They showed up at 8:00 AM when they thought the office was opening, not anticipating that people would show up earlier. They were disappointed. I felt terrible for them, but excited for us! Moral of the story is, if you can, show up early and wait in line if you REALLY want this venue. I didn't have any back ups, and I was wiling to be flexible on the dates as long as I got the venue. The building is very rustic, and we received SO many compliments on the venue and the view of the Austin skyline. The clubhouse is extremely affordable to rent, and you get your deposit back if you don't do any damage. They have extremely detailed information on their website. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I cannot adequately explain how amazing our wedding celebration was at Zilker Park Clubhouse!! I'm…read moreholding a star since we received an email saying we got our deposit back Aug 12th and I still haven't seen the funds in my account- but besides that issue it's definitely got a 5 star rating! We actually got married a month prior in MA, but needed to celebrate the occasion with all our friends who live here with us in TX. This event space was perfect for a party on a budget. The view- I mean, come ON, was just incredible, and the backdrop for everyone's photos! People could not stop talking about how phenomenal it was. The process of getting the place was a bit tricky, as I could not navigate their government website to select the date and missed the cut-off time before having to do the lottery. Luckily, not a lot of people were begging for dates in August as the venue does not have air conditioning- so the heat was a bit brutal (but that's Texas!)- but we got it no problem! I ended up calling and the person I spoke to was very helpful. Speaking of air conditioning- or lack-there-of- we ended up renting some swamp coolers (huge cooling fans that run off of ice- but a LOT of ice!!) to help with the heat. There are ceiling fans and a few industrial fans included- but those don't help too much in August! I had a hard time figuring out what exactly we needed- so I'm going to add a quick "plug" for Preferred Climate Solutions our of Hutto, TX. They worked ZPC before and knew how to set things up. Brett even had an extra swamp cooler from an earlier event he let us use. Moving on- because this place doesn't require use of specific vendors- it made it that much affordable. We hired Slab BBQ to cater and Pixster photo booth for fun. For drinks, we filled out the necessary paperwork (some cheap $10ish permit? I can't quite remember) and we're able to just bring in a few kegs and boxes of wine from PartyBarn. Everything went off without a hitch! Good to note- the place provides a bunch of tables. Two huge round ones, a few smaller round and rectangle ones, and some nice cocktail tables we used on the patio. (The cocktail tables and one rectangular were good enough condition to go without tablecloths- the rest require coverings.) For lighting- it was definitely important to us to get string lights on the patio. I realized last minute that getting a few hundred feet of lights was going to be trickier than I initially thought- since I had to consider ones that connected and could manage the power of 300 ft of lights. I used Americanpartylights.com- it worked out great! They included zip ties which is important since it's against the park rules to use tape (holds better anyways.) I found a great diagram of ZPC patio for the light arrangements and measurements (photo included.) It was a perfect celebration and I HIGHLY recommend this space for any event! It has such a cool vibe even without decorations, your set up can be minimal and still look amazing. Plus... that VIEW!

The ranch like feel, gorgeous trees, and rustic rock home were the perfect backdrop for our wedding. The venue was perfect but so was the venue coordinator: Collyn Cody. I cannot express our gratitude strongly enough. Collyn was amazing to work with. From the first moment that we met her, she felt like family and her calming spirit made planning a wedding feel easy, even if only while around her. She worked with us to design, plan, and coordinate our perfect day. The day of the wedding, Collyn provided an immeasurable amount of help to make our day perfect. From navigating the walk of two brides simultaneously walking down 2 different aisles on opposite sides of the venue, to flipping the venue from ceremony to reception flawlessly, to ensuring that our day of plan went off without a hitch, Collyn was simply amazing. Take a drive and head to Blue Rock Estate; I am so glad that we did. We will be forever grateful to this venue for making our day exactly what we envisioned.

Up until just before our wedding, we had actually booked a different venue. But 2 weeks before the big day, our initial venue made it impossible for us to host the wedding at their site. We desperately looked around for somewhere else, and we were coming to terms with the idea that we might have to hold the wedding in a public park when our amazing wedding coordinators, Yellow Umbrella Events, found Blue Rock Estate! We were lucky that and they were still available because they're brand new and hadn't sold out yet. We're SO THANKFUL that we found this venue! First, the owners and on-site coordinator as incredibly kind! From the moment we walked onto the property, they were completely accommodating and allowed us to transform their already beautiful property however we wished. They made us feel very welcome, and they were very friendly throughout the stress of the last minute venue change. On the wedding day, they let my bridesmaids and I arrive early so we could eat lunch and relax. The wedding went off without a hitch, and they were very friendly to us, our guests, and our vendors. As far as the property goes, it couldn't have been more gorgeous. The pathway from the parking lot to the main building winds through a beautiful butterfly garden full of aromatic sage plants and festoon lighting. The main building itself is similar to a Spanish-style villa, and it was once built as a artist's studio. It opens out to the lawn via several French doors, as well as a castle-like solid wood door at the back. The building's white stone exterior was a perfect backdrop for our lighting, and the grassy field was great for lawn games and photos. The stone pool even provided a nice water feature off of which our lighting was reflected. Our ceremony and dinner were held in the adjacent granite gravel space framed by a beautiful oak tree. The trees gave ample shade, and the air-conditioned interior was great for dancing and cooling off during our outdoor, June wedding. The bridal suite was bright and full of natural sunlight, and the groom's suite was classically decorated with a dark leather sofa and similar, masculine decor. Though our excellent caterer, Royal Fig, brought their own food trucks for cooking on-site, the fully-equipped kitchen was perfect for staging the appetizers and dinner. The property itself is very well marked and easy to get to. There was ample parking for our 90 guests and enough space for several mini-buses and rental trucks to drive through. Overall, I couldn't have pictured a more beautiful wedding. It was a blessing in disguise when we were forced to find a new venue, and I'm SO thankful that we found Blue Rock Estate. If you're looking for the perfect blend of "rustic chic," then Blue Rock Estate is for you!

I had a lot of guests from outside of Texas, so I wanted to give them an authentic Texas Hill Country experience while still reflecting my modern tastes. I chose to have both my ceremony and dinner in the beautiful Great Room to avoid the Texas heat, which was a decision both my guests and I appreciated! Dancing was in the barn, and there was a nice breeze flowing through the doors that kept the space cool. The reason I first fell in love with this venue is that it feels like a home rather than an "event space." The on-site bride and groom's suites were so convenient and comfortable, and my guests enjoyed having so many options to explore between the great room, the upstairs and downstairs patios, the lawn, and the barn. I love this venue so much, I chose to hold my rehearsal dinner and a post-wedding Sunday brunch there as well! April was so incredibly kind and helpful both before the wedding (which was a long period of time - I booked way back in December 2015!) as well as at all three of my events. She truly cares about the people she hosts, and goes above and beyond to make sure your event is exactly the way you want it. The communication between us and the park was really calming and they were able to almost accommodate all of our request. It is not overly expensive and you are given virtually the entire venue. However, the AC turns COMPLETELY OFF when the doors are open and takes forever to cool down the room even the least bit. We spent 4 hours in 80+ degree heat due to this dysfunction. If you are planning an event I would recommend you LEAVE THE DOORS LOCKED. Otherwise, beautiful venue, wish I didn't sweat for 4 hours in formal wear, or that this wasn't a venue in Texas.

As one of the longest…read morecontinuously inhabited sites in all of North America, it wan an honor to add our celebration to the shores of the Sacred Springs that have flowed there for millions of years. The unmatched natural beauty of Spring Lake was the perfect back drop to our ceremony on the water's edge at Sycamore Point. We rented the pretty white chairs for seating down there. One thing I would note about that site is that the walk from our ceremony to the dinner was a bit long for our elderly guests. We decided to hire a pedi-cab for a couple hours to shuttle folks around the park before and after the ceremony. I highly recommend this, or a golf cart, if you plan your ceremony for Sycamore Point. We rented out the glass-bottom boats for our guests, which made for a truly unique and memorable cocktail hour before dinner on the rooftop of the historic hotel (now the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment). They even let us use their tables and 50 chairs! (We did have to rent some extras for our large group). The staff was great and there was ample parking for our guests. As Bobcat Alumni, river-rats, and stewards of the planet, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled to have shared this natural treasure with all the people we love.
