The customer service is terrible. I was unable to get assistance over the phone and ended up booking online. I had to provide a credit card to book the appointment. I woke up very sick that morning, and with Covid risk I should not be out. Plus there was a blizzard. I called to cancel but because it was less than 24 hours they still charged my card. I had planned to pay with a gift certificate. I called and they refused to refund and were very rude about it. TL;DR Great prices and great service, but keep in mind it is a college. I had a great experience at the Myotherapy Institute. My mother and I went together as a Christmas gift, and we had the same massage by different masseuses at the same time. It should be noted that this was both our first professional massage, so I cannot compare them. My masseuse was very pleasant and accommodating and the massage itself was very nice. My mother's masseuse was not as great yet their massage was comparable. read more

Terrible customer service. They do not honor gift cards that are over one year old. My correspondence with the director was eye-opening: her lack of professionalism was astonishing. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to go somewhere more reputable and customer-friendly. **this experience occurred a couple years back(although, clearly from what I have read in Yelp and other sites, things have not changed...) but I just noticed that they are listed twice here on Yelp, albeit with different addresses. Pros: Nice place to get a really great priced massage. The place is clean, calm, with gentle music and lighting. I've always had to good to great massages here, and I'm happy to say I've been getting massages for 30 years!! Yes, these are students. But they clearly know their stuff. And, they check in with client about pressure, pains, etc. Ample parking available in their lot. Easy to find behind the Walgreen's. Cons: Appointments fill up super fast, like in a couple days after they openings are available online. So, you have to just be lucky enough to look on the days the next month is available. read more

Yesterday I walked in, first time, and was told I could be booked with Ashley at 11:45 because another person cancelled due to the pending weather. I asked the receptionist if there was any chance that the massage therapist would cancel because of the weather and I was assured she would not, that they have to come in even if there is inclement weather, so I agreed to book the appointment and rearranged my schedule today in order to make this appointment. I went for a swim prior to the appointment and after my swim I checked my phone and there was a missed call and a message left at 11am for my 11:45 am appointment that due to the weather my therapist wasn't coming and they needed to cancel my appointment. I was already in my car and on the way there so I decided to stop in and speak with the manager. I asked the receptionist Joey, who left me the message, if I could speak with the manager, he told me to hang on and then went back and briefed her on the situation even though I didn't voice my complaint to him. The manager immediately came out in a defensive manner and wanted me to speak to her in the quiet front lobby where customers were waiting and I said I preferred discussing my situation in the side room not in front of all these people. Her body language was extremely defensive and she put an unnatural amount of distance between herself and I. She wouldn't apologize for the situation or offer any solutions finally she asked me to come to the front desk and she was going to give me a card which I assumed would be a discount on a future appointment instead it was the director's card and she advised me there is nothing she can do and I should email the director. I replied, you are the manager that is why I am talking to you, it's not my job to speak with your director for you. I was very upset and astounded this is how they handle customer issues and I stormed out. And I see on here another post earlier today by a customer who didn't give them 24 hr notice and they were charged for their appointment, they didn't even give me an hour notice even though it has been known since early morning about the weather and they treat me like I am the problem because I have a reasonable complaint for them screwing up my day. Not right! Perhaps we should threaten to complain to the better business bureau that may cause them to take action. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers especially in this line of work! I had a massage scheduled and we had some bad weather predicted for the day of my appointment. I waited until the morning of the appointment and decided to not go to work or get the massage. I called early in the morning and left a message that I needed to cancel and to call me with confirmation. I received no phone call, just an email. I then found out they charged me because it was less than 24 hours notice. I get that, but when I called them to say I could come in or find someone to take my spot they already filled it and there were no more openings for the day. I would not recommend Myotherapy Institute to anyone considering massage school. Please read this before you choose to addend this school. When I was shopping for massage schools I had trouble finding reviews on the school itself so I am writing this for anyone considering attending Myotherapy Institute. I am an adult student with a Bachelor's degree and graduate classes (plenty of experience being a student). I am a good student and a rule follower. I understand how to be a student and am prepared to put in the time and work to be successful. I have just completed the first 10-week session of classes at the Myotherapy Institute. I finished all of my classes with good grades, but have just withdrawn from the school for several reasons that I will list here: * After about the first week of classes, paper towels in the bathroom were gone and no one replaced them for weeks. * Our practice space ran out of disinfectant and we were told by the Provost, Wendy, to use hand sanitizer. We were told that disinfectant was on order but it didn't arrive for weeks after we ran out in the practice room and the classroom. * We were told that we would receive massage tables two or three weeks into the program and I didn't receive mine until about week 8 of 10, regardless of the fact that we were required to practice outside of class * We were required to wear uniform shirts the last two weeks of class, but they had not arrived by the end of the session (10 weeks) * Students are not allowed to wear hair that is anything besides a "natural color" for the sake of "being professional". I have purple in my hair and was told that I had to change my hair color before doing clinics even though, having my hair in a bun, the purple could barely be seen. All the while, the supervisor who works the appointment desk has blue hair. * My class had lab practice times for three hours on Fridays. The only instruction we were given for the lab time was that we were to "practice massage". We did massage exchanges each week after which we had extra time every week. The last week of classes we brought snacks as we had already finished all of our classes and turned in our practice logs. While we were enjoying snacks, Wendy, the Provost, began appearing and ordering us to get busy and practice massage at which time we put our snacks away and did the massage practice as we were told. Wendy appeared several times while we were doing massage to make sure we were working. After our massage exchanges, we cleaned up, put all the equipment away and had about 30 minutes of spare time as we had every week on Fridays. Wendy, once again, appeared and ordered us to get everything back out and do massage until the end of our lab time at noon. This was frivolous and absolutely inconsistent with what we had done each of the other 9 weeks we had done lab, yet Wendy felt the need to choose our last day of lab to act like we hadn't done what we were supposed to do and to demand that we massage every minute. Regardless of the fact that it takes at least 10 minutes to set up and at least another 10 to clean up and put away. * When I scheduled a phone meeting with the Director, Sue, about the interaction with the Provost, Sue supported Wendy's behavior entirely and told me that adult students (like me) who are accustomed to running their own lives sometimes have trouble learning to be students. * I asked the director to reconsider the hair color policy and she informed me that they would not be changing their policy for me and that if I didn't like it I should reconsider my choice to attend this school. All of the instructors I had were very good. I have no complaints about the actual classes or teachers, but I found the administration is just insufferable. I went to massage school to learn massage, but I refuse to be treated like a child, scolded and micromanaged. I expect to be treated like a student paying for an education. read more

Terrible customer service!! They do not honor gift cards past one year of purchase. Even though it is not stated anywhere that they charge you the full price.I bought 2 gift cards, was only able to use one because of how hard it is to get an appointment. Then I was charged another $35.00 when I finally was able to be seen. I ended up being charged $105.00 for my massage. No where on there website does it talk about the extra fees and when I was there that evening, she said nothing to me about being charged again. Too bad they run a business that way. read more

If your looking for a good massage therapy progam this is not it. Sue (owner) will talk down to you and you won't get the education you think you will get. You are basically paying to teach yourself. You won't get the supplies you need for a class on time if at all and still be required to do the class with or without it. She will tell you things and agree on things, then turn around and deny ever saying it. She will fail you in a class you passed just because you got on her bad side. When applying for the program they list all of the courses of education you will get. In reality you will only get a couple of those courses. Majority of it is just a waste of time and won't prepare you for the MBLEX or what comes after. Students are required to clean the facility and work at her cosmetic store as a requirement for their education without pay. You would be better off driving to Omaha or really anywhere thats not Myotherapy. read more

I have gone to Myotherapy Institute for years. My last appointment the time was mixed up and I was late. They charged me anyway, even though I did not get a massage. When I asked to have the owner/operator call me they said there was no way to talk to her. I tried to e-mail the business 3 times with no response. This is not the way to treat a long time customer. This school was a terrible experience for me. I loved the education I got and I appreciate the teachers that wanted to push me forward in my career, but the administration was awful. There have been multiple issues with the administration and I know multiple other students that had issues. The administration consisted of 3 individuals that ruined my massage therapy education. I would advise any student that wants to study massage not to choose this school. They are not organized and they don't respect the students. I was treated like a child while attending. For example, we had assignments due and nowhere in the syllabus was it stated that we needed a hard copy. A girl in my class came into class believing that an emailed copy would suffice since she had completed the assignment. She was publicly ridiculed for not printing off a hard copy before class. Our teacher(that was also part of the administration) refused to let her use the printer at the school. In what school are students not allowed to use a printer? The same thing happened to me a couple weeks later. This isn't that big of a deal but there were plenty of other unreasonable things that occurred while I was in school. Please take this review into deep consideration when deciding to attend a massage school. Commuting to Omaha or another massage institute, I believe, would greatly benefit you and your education. read more
