We have used Blue Ridge for both training (field and obedience) as well as just basic boarding many of times now. The quality of genuine care, attentiveness and communication from staff has been above and beyond! The love for the dogs is felt instantly and radiates when you are greeted by Rebecca and Caitlin in the office/kennel. Dropping your pup off for any length of time in never easy, yet somehow they've melted away any of those hard feeling and both our dogs absolutely love them! The expertise, patience and professionalism from Steve and the rest of the team in the field/obedience work has been incomparable! Everyone truly takes the time to get to know you and your dog, and works as a team to make sure both your dog and yourself are on the best path to success. He's behind on two vaccines because of financial hardship, but he is vaccinated for rabies and we've always done the best we can for him. He was also traumatized by a previous groomer who cut his nails too short and made him bleed, so he's understandably nervous around clippers and certain handling. We arrived at this new vet hopeful and in good spirits. The clinic is in the middle of farm fields, but the receptionist was kind and welcoming. Sully was calm at first. Then things went downhill fast. A nurse and a trainee came in. The trainee attempted to take Sully's temperature with an ear device she clearly did not know how to use. It kept beeping loudly in his ear, and she tugged his ear when he flinched. She even had to ask the other nurse how to change the settings. At that point, Sully no longer trusted her -- and honestly, neither did we. When they tried to take his temperature rectally, he growled out of fear. Instead of adjusting their approach, they pushed forward. Then the doctor came in. Her greeting felt forced and overly high‑pitched. She tried giving Sully treats and even handed treats to the assistant to "gain his trust," but the damage was already done. When she tried to take his temperature and he growled again, she made a comment like "Oh, he's a mama's boy," which did not feel like a joke -- it felt dismissive. When he growled a second time, she threw her hands up and said loudly, "I cannot work like this!" with her eyes closed, as if she was barely holding herself together. It was unprofessional and honestly shocking. They took him to another room with a window so we could watch, and gave him his two overdue vaccines. Then the doctor insisted he needed to be sedated for a nail trim because "he relies on you too much." When we declined due to cost, she asked "Why not?" in a rude tone. We explained we couldn't afford it, and she acted annoyed. She told the receptionist to give us a "discount" and a price breakdown, but the total was still far more expensive than any vet we've ever been to. My mom and I debated whether to continue or leave. We decided to just get the two basic shots and go. The doctor didn't say goodbye, didn't reassure Sully, didn't reassure us -- nothing. Just walked out. The entire experience felt rude, careless, and borderline cruel. The assistant did not seem trained or confident enough to be handling animals, and the doctor seemed impatient, judgmental, and overwhelmed by a dog simply expressing fear. We left shaken, upset, and honestly heartbroken for Sully. I will never return, and I hope this review helps other pet owners avoid the same experience.

They did not charge me as they knew that I would be spending a fortune at emergency and because they had only gave him a quick look over. I am grateful for their advice because the cat was indeed blocked and we caught it in time before it did kidney damage or required surgery. My grandkitty ended up needing an overnight at UCD and is now healthy again. I wish this place was open more days of the week because it is a much more affordable option than going straight to emergency but with most vets around here having 2+ week waits for non emergency appointments.

However, he responded so well to Bonnie's touch and tone, and his fear that comes from mistreatment in his past faded after just a couple of visits with Bonnie. I can see him relax, hear things pop, and just see a difference in him after he has his treatment. I also have a small mare with attitude, and she also becomes putty in Bonnie's hands. I am convinced that my mare had pain I wasn't aware of, and she now runs and frolics much more than she did before I started her with Bonnie. I am now a believer!

Lots of great communication. We did have minor hiccups that could've impacted our process (our kitten isn't neutered yet) however I was able to schedule that with them which is awesome! We were able to pay the adoption fee and neuter appointment through Venmo which is super convenient. Marisa and Trina were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and just SO kind!!!! They're one of the most affordable in the area. As of 2024, the price was $125/spay and $100/neuter. I think they have a lot of frequent availability with appointments almost every week. The price includes transport and an optional FVRCP vaccine. You contact someone (Kathy) through Facebook messenger. She's very responsive. You give basic info like the name of the cat, person, phone number, description of the cat, etc. Then it's pre-pay through Venmo. Very easy. When the appointment is closer they created a group text thread with all the information like drop off location/time and an estimated pick up. You will need a hard carrier for transport. Drop off is pretty early. Like 5:45AM in Dixon. Pick up was the afternoon around 3PM. Sometimes it can be earlier or later. They had a foster help hold onto my sister's kitten after the surgery when she got into an accident and was late to pick up. Really good people. This group does amazing work helping the community get their cats fixed at an affordable rate! As you can see in the video Bergie healed just fine. You also get a certificate for the surgery and a cute/funny "my bloodline ends with me" ribbon.

They are also perfect for stuffing with greek yogurt/peanut butter ect... My review is more about customer service though. Unfortunately they were out of stock on the bones I was looking for and one of their employees went above and beyond to help us out. They apologized and sent us an "inconvenience gift." It's hard to find good customer service these days and this company really cares about their customers. I highly recommend them to all puppy owners!
