I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this clinic was so upsetting that I feel obligated to warn other pet owners. My dog, Sully, is a sweet, gentle boy who has been through a lot. He's behind on two vaccines because of financial hardship, but he is vaccinated for rabies and we've always done the best we can for him. He was also traumatized by a previous groomer who cut his nails too short and made him bleed, so he's understandably nervous around clippers and certain handling. We arrived at this new vet hopeful and in good spirits. The clinic is in the middle of farm fields, but the receptionist was kind and welcoming. Sully was calm at first. Then things went downhill fast. A nurse and a trainee came in. The trainee attempted to take Sully's temperature with an ear device she clearly did not know how to use. It kept beeping loudly in his ear, and she tugged his ear when he flinched. She even had to ask the other nurse how to change the settings. At that point, Sully no longer trusted her -- and honestly, neither did we. When they tried to take his temperature rectally, he growled out of fear. Instead of adjusting their approach, they pushed forward. Then the doctor came in. Her greeting felt forced and overly high‑pitched. She tried giving Sully treats and even handed treats to the assistant to "gain his trust," but the damage was already done. When she tried to take his temperature and he growled again, she made a comment like "Oh, he's a mama's boy," which did not feel like a joke -- it felt dismissive. When he growled a second time, she threw her hands up and said loudly, "I cannot work like this!" with her eyes closed, as if she was barely holding herself together. It was unprofessional and honestly shocking. They took him to another room with a window so we could watch, and gave him his two overdue vaccines. Then the doctor insisted he needed to be sedated for a nail trim because "he relies on you too much." When we declined due to cost, she asked "Why not?" in a rude tone. We explained we couldn't afford it, and she acted annoyed. She told the receptionist to give us a "discount" and a price breakdown, but the total was still far more expensive than any vet we've ever been to. My mom and I debated whether to continue or leave. We decided to just get the two basic shots and go. The doctor didn't say goodbye, didn't reassure Sully, didn't reassure us -- nothing. Just walked out. The entire experience felt rude, careless, and borderline cruel. The assistant did not seem trained or confident enough to be handling animals, and the doctor seemed impatient, judgmental, and overwhelmed by a dog simply expressing fear. We left shaken, upset, and honestly heartbroken for Sully. I will never return, and I hope this review helps other pet owners avoid the same experience. read more

Doctor Timm is old school and takes care of your pet without pushing any unneeded tests or treatments. Due to the holidays, Doctor Timm was out of the office when we got our new Kitten for Christmas. The kitten needed shots and eye cream, so we took it to Winters. Immediately they wanted to do tests and a fecal sample that wasn't needed. They gave me an estimate that was twice what I ended up paying after only getting what I went there for. The Winters Vet also did a neuter that immediately got infected and the incision opened up. I called the Winters vet and they were going to charge an emergency fee for their negligence. I took the kitten to Doctor Timm. He took care of the issue immediately and didn't take advantage of me financially. I dread the day he retires. I'll never go anywhere else again until he does. read more

I am not from the area. I was up training my dog and she got a foxtail. My trainer called to see if they could get her in and within 15 mins I was at the clinic and ready to go. No wait time. Dr Timm and staff are so nice. I appreciated that they trusted my dog and did the procedure in a simple way. It was done fast and efficiently. The staff loved all over my pup for being so good. Lovely group of people and Dr Timm was great and funny too. Also, I thought the outside of the clinic was super cool and relaxing. Plus there was a peacock there being examined when we were there! Sorry to see some negative reviews. Glad I didn't see them before coming here. That would have had me concerned. However, my experience was far different. The staff and Dr. Timm were very kind and considerate. We were set to leave town but realized last minute that my cat needed to be seen by someone the day before. I called five Veterinary offices and none could see my cat the same day. My husband found the Dixon clinic, called, and told them our story. The receptionist asked him to hold to ask the doctor if he could fit him in. She came back on the line and asked if we could be there soon he could be seen. 40 minutes later we were there. A very thorough exam was completed by the good doc. We were given antibiotics, some suggestions, and asked to return following the course of treatment. I could not have asked for better care and the fact that we were allowed to come at the last minute (new patients, mind you) was such a relief. Howdy all, I was pleasantly surprised by the care I received from Dr. Timm and the staff at the clinic. My primary vet does not see chickens, and I got the referral for this clinic from Western Ranch & Feed in Vacaville. The office is settled back from the road on a gravel path surrounded by trees. It is an old-fashioned country setting. The doctor and his assistant were performing a euthanasia under the canopy of a big tree as I walked up the entryway. It was very touching and comforting to see that kind of CARE taking place. Dr. Timm listened to my concern related to my lil' hen who hasn't been acting like herself for about a month. He examined her, looked at a stool specimen, but w/o further testing, he really couldn't tell what was wrong with her. I know it could get $, and honestly, as much as I treat my animals like family members, much of my time and resources are directed towards the human in my family battling cancer. I appreciate the doctor's honesty, and he didn't even charge me for the exam. I am giving FOUR stars only because I missed the entryway due to the sign is old and not that easy to see from the road. First time myself or my dog has gone to this Vet. The Doctor walked in, didn't even acknowledge me, and when straight into putting a scope in my dogs ear. My dog was a rescue and still has issues with men, poor little guy was shaking. The Doctor made no attempt to calm down my dog, was a bit pushy to the Vet Tech, pushed my hands away, and was just overall rude. I noticed he wasn't like that when what seemed to be a long time customer came in. The medicine I had to get was clearly poured from a large bottle, which I didn't mind at all, but the amount I had to get for my 15lbs dog was ridiculous. The bottle was $60, when my dog will use a fraction of that for his ear infection. If they just had the pre-made medicine bottles like everyother vet clinic I have been to it would have been $20-$30 for the size I needed. read more

I can't rate Dr. Timm, as I have never seen him (my neighbor recommended him and said he is wonderful). However, I have talked to his receptionist and will never bring my animals to a doctor who has such a haughty bitch as his receptionist. After asking if I could drop my dog off to be seen her reply was "no, you can bring him in. It only takes a couple minutes." Seriously? A couple of minutes for a new patient who has something wrong with her? I don't think so. Every word out of her mouth was just lined with rudeness. Just an FYI-if you want new patients (yes, PATIENTS-as in I have 5 animals) don't have horrible office staff. read more

Moved up here from the Bay Area and went to a number of different vets in the area for my menagerie of animals we keep. (Chickens, dogs, cats) The local selection was disappointing mostly due to the price gouging and conveyer belt feel to all of them. They didn't really take the time to get to know you and your pets- I just felt like I was rushed in, rushed out and was a checkbook with a face. That is until I happened upon Dr. Timm. I was a little apprehensive at first because the practice was not what I am used to aesthetically coming from the Bay Area but my worries were very soon but to rest with the level of care and love that this vet puts into his practice. It feels like you're being welcomed into his very own home even with lots of history and photos on the walls. I was very pleased to of found that Dr. Timm sees chickens and was so knowledgeable on them! One vet quoted me $280 to euthanize a chicken for me once- I see why people just break their necks at home with prices like that but I can't stomach that and think it's inhumane. I have a small backyard flock of rescues that are very much loved pets. Some of our rescues are older and as such when it comes their time Dr. Timm has always been there to let them go gently. I'm always embarrassed that I'm in there crying about chickens but he's always made it easier for me and I never felt judged no matter how upset I was. He's also made it affordable to give the birds a humane way out. He's even saved one of my chickens who had egg yolk peritonitis and she still lays eggs! Anytime one of the birds gets sick or gets an injury he knows exactly what is wrong and how to fix it. What a blessing he has been for our hens. Dr Timm has also performed eye entropy surgery on our bulldog and fixed a corneal ulcer and he has been right as rain ever since and is as handsome as ever. We recently had him remove a mammary tumor from a rescue pit of ours. I thought she just had a nasty skin tumor but as soon as doctor Timm saw her he immediately palpated where the skin tumor was and found a mammary tumor underneath! I never would have known it was there but thanks to Dr. Timm we caught it in time and she is now doing wonderfully and the incision scar is barely visible. Dr. Timms personality is a plus to all of this and I would recommend him to anyone- especially those with pet chickens! I always know I can trust him to tell it to us straight and won't give us the run around just to try and make more money. Several years ago I had a yellow lab that was just a little off. I took her to a vet in Vacaville, and the vet could find nothing wrong. Well, I just kept telling my husband that something was brewing with "Paley". About a year later, I took her to U.C. Davis....again, they found nothing wrong. At this point, my husband was wondering if I was imagining things. About 8 months later, I took her to Dr. Timm. He was kind, gentle and patient. After a thorough exam, he turned to me with sadness on his face. He explained that he would be glad to biopsy and test, but in his experience my dog had advanced oral cancer. Seriously, the other vets had gone over her whole body, but never looked in her mouth???? All I could think was what if I had found this vet 2 1/2 years earlier???? My most recent experience was during Covid with my 7 yr old boxer. She got sick suddenly and severely, and needed emergency care. The emergency clinic would not let me in with her. She was not used to me leaving her, and she got scared, and apparently become hard to handle. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The clinic sent me home with Ace as a tranquilizer to be given before her next appointmet, and said they would not accept her if it was not given. Thank God I found out that Ace is not recommended for Boxers before that appointment. Rather than stick with the clinic that had started her treatment, I went back to Dr. Timm. Because of Covid, I could not go in with her, but they had a set up where you could stand at the window, which was slightly open, and interact. Well, this time I saw my dog's fear behaviour, and I was shocked! Instead of overreacting, or disciplining her, Dr. Timm asked his assistantants to back away and give her some space. He placed his hand upon her head, and his love and calmness was apparent to all. He talked her through her fear, gently rubbing and scratching her, until she relaxed, and then she let him shave her leg and take blood. Now I am an animal person, but watching him handle her was an eye opener. It made me realize how rare it has been for me to see a Vet that actually shows an understanding and love for his patients. Tim and his staff services we now bring both our dogs there we have 2 presa canario bread dogs and doctor tim knew exactly how to deal with a larger bread as well as effectively fix a problem in a timely manner with a surgery that had ruptured . we love this clinic and if you go some were eles , we highly recommend you switch. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. DO NOT GO HERE. I sent my daughter here in an emergency situation on the recommendation of a friend. Her dog was vomiting continuously and had bloody stool. Her regular vet was trying to fit her in but it wasn't until later in the day. She never ONCE saw the vet but the tech did a parvo test which came back positive. My daughter's dog is up to date on all shots and she has other dogs in the house. The tech came back with bags of meds, IV fluids and pic lines but did not explain any of it to my daughter. She Gave the dog a shot which most of it did not go into the skin. The tech was not very knowledgeable and could not tell my daughter what she needed to do other than bleach the house to which we did. My daughter has never given IV fluids and was scared to death. They charged her $500 and never even touched the dog except to give a half ass injection. The vet never came out to even assess how bad the situation was. It's been 2 days and they haven't once called to check on the dog. If you value your pet's life do NOT go to this vet. read more

This vet office had an ad in the 'Welcome to Dixon' brochure and advertised that they treat birds (many vets do not) so I saved the number on the fridge, for emergencies. Then I had one. I called this vet's office on Feb 2nd, because one of my parakeets had been injured and was bleeding out as I watched. I was in tears when I called. I asked if I could bring in a bird for emergency services, right away! The receptionist sighed and mumbled on the phone, SNAPPED AT ME when I asked her to repeat herself, acted like I was imposing on her by asking for vet services, and brusquely told me there were no appointments free that day. I asked her if she knew of any other vets in the area who would treat birds, and she said "No, we're the only one in the area that treats birds." After hearing that, I treated the bird myself, to the great and lasting distress of myself and the bird (I have zero training but I read something in a book once). And it turns out there IS a bird vet, 15 min away, at the near edge of Vacaville. This vet might provide good medical care, but I'll never know because I never got past the worst receptionist ever. Horrible service charged me an arm and a leg for an exam that took him less then a minute. I had to guide and ask the vet to look at specific areas. Cleanliness is ranked at a -1. I even over heard one of the assistants say she may have accidentally cut one of the animals. And it was the animals fault for moving. Never again will I take my animal there read more

We have been here a few times and it was ok, nothing special by any means. I call today to schedule a surgery and the lady snaps at me on the phone I told her" nevermind because you're rude". Do they not realize they are losing a lot of business from this hella rude lady? I will never go back because of her. She was never friendly before but today just plain rude for no reason. Went to this Dr Timm guy multiple times because my dog was not eating and seemed in pain. This jack ass every time I went in didn't touch my dog run any tests or anything just looked at him. He gave him pain killers and said oh he just has a spinal injury. I take my dog to Aggie and the first time I go in Dr Booth noticed how skinny and sick my dog was so ran multiple tests and come to find out my dog has liver cancer. Dr timm charged 80-150$ a visit and did nothing and was way off on his diagnosis. I would recommend this guy to no one. read more

Should have listened to the Yelp reviews- but I thought Id give them a shot.. Like a lot of others here I am BIG on customer service. You would think that the person you have answering the phone would be courteous.... this receptionist is not. I asked to make an appointment for my 2 dogs and her response was rude, at best. I told her that i should have listened to the yelp reviews, thanked her, and hung up. Finding a good reasonably priced vet is hard enough and you don't want to go somewhere when the front desk inst even polite. I have had a completely different experience with them. I also just moved to this area and inherited a few barn cats. One was very sick on my porch one morning, so I called them with the emergency. They got me in RIGHT AWAY. Were quick in getting the dehydrated kitty what she needed and were clear about cost. If I have any other sick animals I'll be calling them again. read more

I have entrusted 14 animals to the wonderful care of the Dixon Vet Clinic over the past 12 years. I have known the staff to be exceptional and wonderfully kind and caring. I have had a number of emergencies and they were always accommodating telling me to come right in. Dr, Tim even delayed a house to call to see my dog who was having seizures. With so many animals you can imagine my vet costs which is why I appreciate Dr. Tim who works with me to order tests/treatments in a systematic manner to rule out/in cause rather than perform 'a million' tests at once which was my experience with other vets. I will never take my animals any where else. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Tim and all of his staff especially the receptionists who are like family to me. They have seen me thru many happy and sad times with all of my 'children'. read more
