In the beginning of October, I visited MyEyeDr. in Winterhaven, Florida, to schedule an appointment for my husband. I presented the office with his insurance card and all the necessary information. Today was his scheduled appointment date, November 7th, so he left work early to be seen. Upon arrival, he was presented with the same paperwork I had filled out earlier. He was also asked to show his insurance card, which I had given them during the appointment setup process. This was unusual, so I brought it to their attention that I had already completed all the necessary tasks. They explained that it was standard protocol to complete these tasks on the day and time of the appointment. After reviewing the paperwork again, they called him to the desk and informed him that he needed to contact his insurance company to verify his eye coverage. In reality, these tasks should have been completed before his appointment. I informed them that they should have completed these assignments before his appointment and that he should have received a phone call if they were unable to do so. They responded that this was their standard procedure and that these tasks should be completed on the day and time of all appointments. We eventually called his insurance company to check if the paperwork had been accepted, and it had been. However, it had to be in paper form, not electronic. Unfortunately, this meant that he was unable to be seen. This would have been acceptable if they had not set up his appointment, received his insurance card during the month prior, and not called him in advance to inform him of this information in October. I've never had anyone be as helpful as he was. also, Sandie who helped me to pick out my frames I greatest. She was so sweet so helpful help me find something in my budget and exactly what I wanted. And John the manager I met him the other day. He was just the nicest fellow so helpful again helped me find a really good deal on glasses and set up the appointment so that I get in there before the end of the year and my insurance changed. I will never go here again. Have been back three times for the same glasses. 1st 2 time, they did not get the progressive lens right. So, I asked them to just make them readers. I stated that I have 2.0 and they said that is not what the Dr ordered. He ordered 2.75 in one eye and 3.0 in the other. Now that I have them , they are too strong. They sat crooked on my face. You walk in and they hand you clip boards telling you sign the highlighted areas then at the end they have added fees for pictures of the back of the eyes which they never said anything about. Then they can't handle the insurance by contacting them because their computers are wrong so now we had to pay for my husband's glasses and have to submit it ourselves to his insurance. This is unbelievable. My mom has been a patient at my eye Dr in Winter Haven for quite some time. I made her an appointment for her annual checkup. My mom is 80 years old. She has Medicaid and Medicare so she doesn't have a copay. The lady at the front desk says her copay is $45. I said she doesn't have a copay and she said that today she was seeing a doctor virtually. What? You mean there will only be a doctor on a TV screen and she said yes. We walked out. You can't give a person especially an older person and exam virtual AND you have to pay for it! My husband ordered glasses after his cataract surgery. When the glasses came in he tried them on and couldn't see out of them. They told him to try them anyway to see if his eyes would adjust. He brought them back after 2 weeks and advised them that the glasses gave him a headache & made him dizzy. He asked for a refund. They told him that they could only give him a credit. So then they offered to redo the glasses. Waited another 10 days..and he again could not see out of them. In the meantime I had called out insurance company and advised them of what was going on and they informed me that we were entitled to a refund & they would reverse the claim. We insisted on the refund & did not leave without a printout of the credit to our credit card, it did go thru after a couple of days. So he was able to go to his original eye care place to order a pair of glasses that he can actually see out of.... We will never go back to this place. read more

I took my granddaughter to an eye appointment today. Roadwork and a police officer slowed the already bad traffic to a standstill resulting in our getting to the appointment at 2:57 instead of 2:50. There was one person waiting to check in. When the girl got to us, it was 3:00 and she took a few minutes to look it up. She left the desk and returned to tell us at 3:03 that we'd need to reschedule. i asked why and she said "because you have only a 10 minute grace period". So I have no choice & went to Winter Haven . I called to make an appointment and was texted a link to make the appointment. I scheduled the appointment, confirmed my appointment and got text confirmation that I had confirmed my appointment. The day of my appointment I drove in from out of town only to be told that my appointment had been canceled since the system overbooked. I did not get a text or call regarding this and the site was not able to fit me in at all despite having text confirmation of my appointment. went for my eye exam, Adriana at the front desk was anything but attentive, sat in the waiting room for about a hour then passed around from employee to waiting room to employee for more testing but no one could tell my why the extra pictures were needed, but I was charged extra for them at checkout. Next issue was the eye exam was not complete by the doctor but a 3 party then passed to the doctor WHO WASNT ON PROPERTY to review And of course at check out I noticed the prescriptions for my glasses and contacts didn't match, my contact prescription was incorrect and because it was done my some random person it had to be corrected by the doctor who wasn't available to make the correction even though I had already paid 268.00 for just the exam! Which left me leaving without contacts. Final Issue was being double billed, so I had to return to the location only to be told by the RUDE manager all she could do was put in a ticket for a refund from corporate. she refused to give me there phone number or her bosses phone number. I then sat there for 1hr and did not receive any paperwork to check in. While watching patient after patient come in and get called in to see the doctor. All I was told is they only have 5 doctors. It is obvious they do not care about the patient. The appointment I scheduled was to see a live person and when I got there I was given a computer appointment. My eyes,despite being diabetic, were not dilated for annual exam. They referred me for cataract follow up over two and a half weeks ago and when I called to follow up lady at front desk said it will likely be 6 WEEKS until I get the call for the appointment with the physician. The doctors associated with this company allow this? That is 6 weeks just for the call to schedule the appointment, not the appointment itself. This was by far the worst experience I've had at an eye care facility. We came in about 20 minutes prior to our appointment. We expected to wait, no big deal. Then we noticed many others that arrived after us being called. We were patient. Our appointment time came and 25 minutes later we are still waiting to be seen although everyone before us and many after us had already been attended to. Confirmed it with the scheduler that it was confirmed for the next day . but lady at the front office when we checked in said it was cancelled . , stating I was supposed to call to confirm by 4pm. One star is still too much! Every time I've come to this location, I've been overlooked and ignored! Today, I had an appointment at this location at 11 am, I got there an hour early by mistake. I waited until my appointment time to be called back. At 11 am, there were people repetitively coming in after me, were seen almost instantly! I waited about 20 extra minutes past my appointment time, and people were STILL being seen even though I had a scheduled appointment. I went up to the counter and asked the receptionists "Why are people being seen almost instantly, but I have an appointment and I've been waiting 20 minutes past my time?" Her answer, "Well, your doctor only has 2 rooms." I responded with, "That wasn't my question, why are they being seen before me when I have an appointment?" I did not get a response and the receptionist went back to doing what she was doing and ignored me. I waited another 15 minutes or so, and 4 more people who walked in got seen instantly! The people in the office are very nice. I ordered my glasses the day before Thanksgiving and it is now Christmas Eve. It is way too long to have to wait for my glasses. I have great insurance and I paid a lot of money for the glasses. There should be better customer service and the customer should know what is going on. I work for a very large company in the Tampa Bay area and I am beginning to think that I made a mistake choosing this office. The first order for my glasses had to be sent back to the lab which I understand many have had this issue. I had to call them to find out what was going on and they did call me and leave a message. I have never been more disappointed in my life! I never leave negative reviews, but I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I've been through today! I made an appointment and took off work just for them to tell me that my appointment was canceled because I didn't answer the phone when they called to confirm. I am extremely busy and wouldn't have made the apt if I didn't need to go. However, they sent me a text message the day before my apt letting me know that they were "looking forward to seeing me" at my scheduled day and time. Doctors and staff are wonderful. The service on getting eyeglasses is horrible. I ordered a pair of prescription sun glasses on August 3rd and was told they would be in on August 13th. Here it is August 21st and still haven't received them. My wife and I have purchased several pairs of glasses from them in the past but this may be our last. He explained my options after I told him I was only interested in glasses my Vision Insurance would pay for. Only problem I had was a lack of contact after I ordered the glasses. They came in and were in the MyEyeDr facility but I was not contacted even though they have my phone number, text permission and an email address. I have been going to this location since 1986 when it was Eye Express. Dr. Phillips is wonderful but I am changing due to the fact you can no one to answer the phone or return your call and this has been a ongoing problem not a one time incident. I can get someone to answer at their main hub and always very nice but when she leaves them my number I never get a call back. I have always scheduled my next 6 months appointments when I check out but they are not even doing that anymore. After almost 3 years struggling with this I am done. I bought a pair of glasses in June of 2015 from Eye Express in Winter Haven. I gently used them, I would take them from the hard case I put them in, wear them for a bit while watching a movie, working on my computer, etc., and then return them to the hard case. One day in August I took out the glasses, unfolded them and noticed a thin crack or deep scratch on the lens (I have never dropped or bent them). I was frustrated but since I don't use them unless I need them, I decided not to take them back because I didn't want to go without glasses while waiting for the lens to be repaired. I have continued to use the pair with the crack in them until today, October 1, 2015 when I went to pick up my glasses from the case and the arm literally fell apart. It didn't come unscrewed it broke off causing me to drop the glasses on the floor and scratch the lenses in multiple places. I am now just outside their 90 day warranty and have a paper weight instead of a pair of glasses. read more

EYE EXPRESS IN WINTER HAVEN IS A RIP OFF they sure know how to jack the price up when I went there to purchase a very medium price eye glasses (by the way the frames were $115 just about the cheapest ones they had so that wasn't what jacked the price up). The total was $439.00 THEY TOOK MY INSURANCE OF $200 and then wanted $237.00 more from me and at this price it DID NOT including the eye exam. I walked out and went else where.
