THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! If you are in need of the absolute BEST-OF-THE-BEST in Eye Care, you need…read moreto go out of your way to Zephyrhills, Florida and locate Drs. Mahootchi and Huang at the EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA. I went here after having passed by the location for 10 or more years. It's a pristine white and black building on US 301 near the corner of Eiland Boulevard. I never thought in a million years I would ever need to visit. After numerous bouts of Covid-19, everything that could go wrong medically has almost assuredly happened to me. Within the last two years, I went from being told "it looks like you may have the early development of cataracts," to "your cataracts appear to be rapidily expanding and you need immediate cataract treatment." Like so many others, I immediately set an appointment three months away for "the Big Eye Care Institute" in the Tampa Bay region. Little did I know how cold, seemingly uncaring, rushed, and very, very expensive they would be - all without wanting to check and see how much my insurance policy would cover. Would it surprise you that they came in saying anywhere from $2,500 to $4,500....per eye needing treatment? It had to be paid upfront before any additional steps could be taken. I had to find somewhere else to go, and fast! Enter THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA and DR. AHAD MAHOOTCHI! You talk about a Group of Professionals amongst Professionals! From the moment I walked through the front door, every single person greeted me pleasantly and seemed to be thoroughly vested in making sure my every needs were met. I could tell they really cared about my concerns of going blind. Receptionists, Eye Technicians, Dr. Haung who consulted and worked on my case with Dr. Mahootchi, Linda in Financial Services who worked with my insurance company and booked my two surgeries, and the secondary SAME DAY OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER right behind THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA - and each person at that facility from Dawn the Receptionist & Scheduler, to the Pre-Surgical Team, the Anesthesiology Physician, the OR Team, the Recovery Room Nurses and even the Nurses who twice escorted me out to my awaiting wife and ride home - nothing at this REMARKABLE FACILITY WAS LESS THAN PERFECTION! I wish I could name each and every one of the people who works with DRS. MAHOOTCHI and HUANG at THE EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA. They are all really that great, and you need to go here for any and all eye care you may need. My two surgeries lasted probably about 15 to 20 minutes each. I was lightly sedated and could walk to and from the OR without feeling any pain. The healing process involved having my eyes dialated each time, and that lasted for approximately 2 days after the surgery. However, I could see nearly 95 percent better in each eye immediately following each surgery. And no uncomfortable eye patch following either surgery. Within a week, I was back to 20-30 vision! I'd bet it's probably even better now!!! There really are not enough words to say THANK YOU to the entire EYE CLINIC OF FLORIDA & SAME DAY OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER TEAMS!!! May you be as blessed as I was to discover this place and the magical and epic care provided by Dr. Mahootchi, Dr. Huang and the rest of this wonderful people!!!

Ryan (Dr. Odil) is our primary optometrist…read more We take our entire family there at least once a year and have never had anything other than an excellent experience with him.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Odil for the past 3-4 years. Throughout that time, Dr. Odil…read morehas always been pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional, and the office is equipped with impressive technology that makes the exams feel very thorough and modern. Unfortunately, our most recent experience left us disappointed enough that we will likely look elsewhere for future care. One ongoing concern has been the pressure to purchase frames and lenses directly through the office. While we have purchased glasses there in the past, the pricing is significantly higher than many alternatives. During this visit, we asked about using our own frames with updated lenses and were told that was not an option -- the only solution presented was purchasing entirely new frames and lenses from the office at a cost of $400+. The larger issue, however, was communication and follow-through regarding actual patient concerns. I scheduled this year's appointment specifically because I had worsening night vision and significant starburst effects from headlights while driving at night. I explained the issue multiple times during the appointment and specifically asked whether the updated prescription would help with those symptoms. I was assured that it would. I also had concerns related to a prior eye injury that occurred a few months earlier. Because the office was closed when the injury happened, I was unable to be seen at that time. Although I reached out, there was very little follow-up afterward. During my annual exam, Dr. Odil did check the eye and confirmed everything looked fine, which I appreciated, but the lack of concern and responsiveness when the injury initially occurred was frustrating. After the appointment, my wife and I requested copies of our prescriptions and receipts and were told everything would be available through the patient portal. Unfortunately, the documents were not there, and getting assistance became unnecessarily difficult. Calls were not answered, and communication was handled almost entirely through text messages, which turned what should have been a quick conversation into days of back-and-forth messaging. I ultimately filled my prescription elsewhere. When I tried the glasses while driving at night, there was essentially no improvement in the starburst effect that I had specifically sought help for. What frustrated me most was that recommendations such as anti-glare coatings, amber tint/driving lenses, and other options were only brought up afterward through text messages -- after I had already purchased the lenses elsewhere. Had those recommendations been discussed proactively during the exam, when I repeatedly explained my nighttime driving concerns, I could have considered those options during the purchasing process. I also found the communication process extremely impersonal. Even when I simply requested a quick phone conversation to better understand whether the prescription itself should have improved the issue, I was repeatedly directed toward forms and troubleshooting procedures instead of being able to speak with someone directly. To be fair, everyone I interacted with remained polite and professional throughout the process, and I do believe Dr. Odil is knowledgeable. However, the overall experience increasingly felt transactional and sales-focused rather than patient-focused. Strong communication, responsiveness, and proactive guidance are just as important as technology and presentation, and unfortunately that was where this experience fell short for us. One final aspect of this experience was particularly disappointing. After my wife left a review describing concerns similar to mine -- primarily regarding communication, administrative processes, and sales pressure -- we later received a certified letter informing us that our doctor-patient relationship with the practice was being terminated. While practices certainly have the right to make those decisions, the timing made the situation feel discouraging, especially after several years as loyal patients. Constructive feedback should ideally be an opportunity to improve the patient experience, not something that leaves patients feeling dismissed for expressing honest concerns.

After completion of the exam I was then told I will be required to pay contrary to the initial answer I received. I will contact the Lions Club ( of which I am a previous member as was my father) and suggest perhaps they should no longer recommend Lakeland Eye Clinic. I had eye surgery on my left eye on the 19th of July, 2022…read more It was completely painless. As anyone would suspect, I was a little anxious when I went in. His staff was so wonderful. There is just no way to explain how kindly they treated me and help me to calm down. I hate needles as every one does, but I did not even feel the little butterfly needle they put in my arm. There was no pain whatsoever during the surgery. I had a gauze patch on my eye when I left. I kept waiting for the anesthesia to wear off and the pain to come to my eye. I waited and waited. I thought that surely the next day after I had slept the anesthesia would be worn off by the time I woke up. I waited and waited. NO PAIN. I have yet to feel the first pain from the surgery. Dr. Mulaney himself called me the night of the surgery to see how I was doing. Never ever had a doctor done that before. Wednesday and Thursday afternoon after the surgery a nurse called me also to see if there was any pains or problems that I was having. Have you ever had a doctor call you after you got home from a surgery. He truly is a caring and wonderful, not just professional, but a caring person. I cannot say enough about Dr. Mulaney himself. He is a true professional and highly ranked eye surgeon here in the United States. He is compassionate, efficient and skillful. I now can see so well after the left eye surgery and have had no pain, that I am excited and hoping to have the right eye done soon. It was so easy I wish that I could have it done tomorrow. I can see colors and thing with my left eye now that, the only problem with that Eye is that I can actually SEE the DUST in places I have never been able to see before. If I could change anything with this review it would be that I could give Dr. Mulaney and his staff a 10 star review. 5 Stars are just NOT enough. First of all, the receptionists that greet you, are very friendly and helpful. The doctor herself was amazing. She did a very thorough and complete eye exam, explaining everything as she went and then a thorough explanation when she was finished. Then we got to the next step which was seeing the lady that actually orders your eyeglasses. That was not so good. I was only told to look at frames to see what I liked. She never did any measurements to see if those frames fit as they should. She wasn't transparent at all and couldn't explain why my glasses cost $371 without an anti reflective coating, while there was clearly an advertisement for everything my glasses had, plus the anti reflective coating, was only $280. She told me that's for people without insurance! This makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't know if it makes sense to anyone else. She also had a nasty attitude and treated us as if I was a hinderance. Since nothing was measured, after I received the glasses, it didn't take long to figure out they weren't going to work. The earpieces or the temple pieces as they're also called, were extremely far too short for me. It's not only painful, but impossible to see through a bifocal lens when the frames don't fit. I had to take them back. Another lady that does adjustments only, was very professional and helpful, but she just couldn't make them work. The shortness was too much for her to adjust. I had to pick another pair of frames, had measurements made to make sure those fit, and they are remaking them at no cost. Overall, a good experience, but there needs to be more transparency in pricing, explanations for why you pay more if you have insurance, and make sure the frames fit properly. You can't tell if they fit properly when trying the frame in the store. That's just plain glass without real lenses, so you're not trying to focus on a certain part of the lens. I will continue to go to MyEyeDr, but I won't order from the same person in sales.
