Great ophthalmologist, over priced frames Dr. Kwok is fantastic. The facility design places too much emphasis on selling frames and not on the testing areas. the pre test are is cramped and messy. Waiting areas need to be separated from the contacts station, so unless you like watching folks struggle to put in contacts for the first time, move to the back waiting area. The prices charged for frames is very high compared to various on line alternatives. read more

I've been calling to try and make an appointment for my child and every time the young lady answers. She puts me on hold and it's for 5 minutes plus. I'll hang up and call back. The same thing. This is bad business. If you're that busy simply ask for the customers phone number and give me a courtesy call back. It's rude to put me on hold in the middle of me talking and for that I don't care to use your center for business. So if you're looking for a place that keeps you on hold and keeps putting you on hold when you call this is the place for you. read more

The staff is fine. The manager, not so much. God forbid they think for themselves! I purchased a warranty for my glasses on 5 Jan 2024. My glasses weren't ready for pick up for several weeks after that. I broke my glasses on 14 Jan 2025. The manager practically peed their pants with joy and told me that the warranty starts on the day of purchase, NOT when you actually have the glasses in your possession. Went to the Stafford location after making an appointment online. Was never informed I wouldn't be seen by a Dr in the office. There was a monitor on the wall. The Dr was very nice, but was put off that I didn't have a choice. Wanted to try out contact lenses because I have many sunglasses I'd like to wear & still be able to see clearly. Go in today (26 days later) to find out where my trial contacts are. They sent a text to my home phone that we haven't had in over 10 years. Previously when I've gotten eyeglasses, they text my cell phone. They hand me a ziplock bag with the 2 contacts in it. I get home & they didn't give me a case or solution to get started. Unequivocally the worst service I have experienced. the initial visit was fine but surprisingly no prescription at the end. Contact lens trial lenses were provided which were not satisfactory. Upon returning multiple times , receiving numerous suggestions yet no modification and prescription adjustment a refund was requested. The refund while provided did require the better part of a week. read more

I want to give this place zero stars. I took my son here while home from college for an eye exam to get new glasses. I've been to the Woodbridge location, as has my husband. We saw optometrists in person. At the Stafford location he was seen by an online doctor. I don't care if this is the way of the future...if you are not going to be seeing patients IN PERSON that needs to be disclosed ahead of time. Then we could have chosen to go elsewhere. We have... well had a scheduled appointment today at 4:30pm. It's only 2pm right now. Anyway I called and woman named Angela answered. I told her that we have an appointment for today and that I would like to be able to come in early if possible. She stated that they are all booked today. I then I asked her to double check the appointment time that we have and she said they are all booked. I said again "we already have an appointment can you double check the time" but she said again that they are all booked. I stated to her that we have an appointment already. Can you check the time. Yes I evaluated my voice assuming that she couldn't hear me and she said we don't have any appointments and she hung up the phone in my face. I called back and she answered again. I said you hung up on me and she said Yes because you yelled and I have a customer in front of me... Ok. The issue here is that I am a customer too. Over the years I've purchased at least seven pairs of glasses for myself here and three pair for my children. Glasses and lenses aren't cheap. How dare you hang the phone up in my face because your customer service skills SUCK today. I've accepted the rudeness of their staff and purchased with them although their selection of frames are extremely limited because they are conveniently placed but I will not spend my money with them ever again. I will go wherever first. The one star is for them being conventionally place. What they are missing is the following and for me they lose a star for each of these items to make it fair: - Rude and pushy staff - Hours of operation isn't conventient for the families that live in the area. - Limited selection of frames - Too expensive for what they offer. When I asked for the brand specific contacts to not be written so that I was able to order contacts from somewhere else, I was told "I don't know what you expect me to do about it". I had an eye exam over a month ago at this place and it was just routine. The optometrist was okay and staff was a bit pushy. I paid everything while I was there + whatever costs there were for my contacts. I just recently got a bill from MyEyeDr. saying that my "contact fitting" was not covered by my insurance and I owe them $75. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CONTACT FITTING! I've been wearing contacts since I was 13. Be careful when going to this place! They will bill you for services THAT WERE NOT PROVIDED. Went in with my wife to get my eyes checked and new glasses. The doc did the usual flipping of lenses..is this better, or this? Got my new glasses a month later and; Oh God! I can't see through these things at all! I get a huge headache after thirty seconds of trying to wear these glasses. Got an appointment and got met at the door due to the pandemic. These are my first pair of glasses so I honestly can't speak about prices. I didn't feel like I over paid, but I really don't know...ignorance is bliss. What I can speak of is the friendliness of all the staff. Every person I dealt with was nice, and extremely helpful. Having zero fashion sense I asked several staff members their opinions and I could tell they actually cared enough to give me their honest opinion. The last thing is very important. My eye exam appointment was Thursday, I needed the glasses quick because I have a class I'm going to on Monday. Apparently, this business' COVID 19 policies include allowing the staff to be completely rude and snap at customers as the enter the front door. Me, my wife and son went here to get my son's glasses fixed and shop for a pair for myself. As we entered, Thomas Zimmerman, an employee, snapped at us to get out and they would tell us when we could enter. His behavior was offensive and unacceptable and MyEyeDr should be ashamed to employ someone with such limited people skills. We then stood outside of the store for 40 minutes. We watched at least three people leave and still the employees ignored us. Even though we could be clearly seen through the store front. I give them one star for the young lady that took my son's glasses and fixed them for me. I believe she was a asst manager. I would give her more stars. This place will get no more of my business. I gave this establishment one star and would have given them less if I could have. I ordered three pairs of glasses from this store I wound up returning one pair for a full credit (which I have not received yet), have one pair that is ill fitting and I've gone back three time now to get them adjusted and the third pair was shipped to the wrong address even after I notified them that my address had changed (its been over two months since I ordered them). I have worked with multiple individuals here and have yet to find one that is competent, if you need glasses don't go here. read more

Had an appointment for routine eye exams for myself and my two children. The eye exams were quick. However the doctor's never reviewed the results of the tests for my children. I had to ask to review the results of their exams and I was still unable to review the results for one of my children because her doctor was with another patient. No glasses were needed so I assume that it was unimportant for them-unable to sell their products So just an FYI when updating your children's insurance information and contact information. It will never be entered. I was notified by insurance that a claim was entered incorrectly in March. I called and spoke with a woman in April regarding the incorrect address, phone number and update of insurance as well as correcting the spelling of my children's names. She assured me that the updates would be made and that she would resubmit the information correctly as email the main office to prevent a bill. So now we are in June- again I was never notified of a problem Yet I'm receiving a bill for service because the insurance information is still incorrect Please save yourself the hassle and NEVER go to this place. I've been a patron of the MyEyeDr in Stafford, VA since 2005. The store is located a couple of miles from my home and is very convenient for my family. Last week I made an appointment using the online scheduling application after receiving an email EVERYDAY for over a month. My appointment was for 1:15 today. I received my confirmation email last Thursday. Today, I arrived at the MyEyeDr at 1:05. When I checked in I was told I had no appointment. I showed the receptionist the email and she told me "to have a seat." After a few minutes she returned an told me the doctor would see me, but I would have to wait "a while." I told her to cancel my appointment since like many of us do, I took a day of leave to take care of several appointments--the eye exam was only one of 4 appointments I made for today. MyEyeDr has been steadily regressing in its service over the past few years. My wife has complained to me about their poor service for a couple of years. She received the wrong contact lenses earlier this year and has completely soured on patronizing them in the future. I now agree with her. They are rather expensive and barely provide marginal service. Today confirmed my decision to find a different optometrist. MyEyeDr's aggressive solicitation could be tolerated if they matched it with competent customer service. I cannot recommend the MyEyeDr given their poor service and obvious incompetence. read more

The doctor didn't have my contact RX in stock so she sent me out wearing a set that wast my RX! Seriously? I drove here, but oh go ahead and get on the road with the wrong RX. That's just poor judgement and irresponsible. Then they set me up with a sales rep where they try to pressure you into buying glasses on the spot. Great service, JACKED up prices: I ended up paying the following: Insurance had a 15.00 copay 60.00 box/contacts generic brand - 4 boxes (30.00 per Acuvue box for astigmatism at walmart) 40.00 for a pair of glasses with the anti-glare and special thin glass. (Talked her down on price big time. Originally, it was 90.00 for just the glasses with no bells and whistles. I told her I could get them for 8.00 online at zeni optical and she went down l really quickly!) 27 for a stupid retinal picture- YOU DONT NEED IT. I was told later that they do it in the normal check up ANYWAY and it takes 2 seconds of their time to to take the darn thing. 70 for a "contact fitting". Yeah... Okay... The total came to 392.00 and I FLIPPED out. I paid a total of 80.00 at walmart for the same service last year without glasses. When she realized this, she gave me a 40% off discount on the contacts and a free pair of sunglasses. Still paid $270.00 however and was quite pissed off because of the shady price drop!! So I had a TON of red flags at this visit. I got "discounts" when I raised a fuss. They don't tell you the cost till the last second to see what they can get out of you, then they bargain to get as much as they can. It's all bull sS$$$$". read more

I am sitting here right now getting a replacement pair of glasses, that part of the service here has been good. I had scheduled an eye exam to update my prescription. The employee that does the preliminary portion of the exam is the rudest, most condescending person I have ever met at a provider of service. In an effort to extract more money for this franchise, under the guise of helping me, she refused to stop trying to upsell me. She did this last year to my wife and daughter. She absolutely does not understand her place in the consumer process. The customer sets the terms, not the seller. I got up said that I did not go to this business for a lecture by her. She actually laughed. The labor market must really be tight to keep this kind of employee on the payroll. My family and I will never set foot in there again. Go to the Walmart optometrist across the street instead!!! On 23 April 2019 I returned to MyEyeDr Stafford to have frames purchased from them for repair. Two receptionists confirmed the frame was broken (duh!), but didn't have a clue if their office could repair or where work could be done. I left and went to the Walmart across the street where they did the simple repair in 10 minutes for free! Go across the street to Walmart for service! This is a pretty good place. The man who did my appointment is very friendly. They were very patient with me, because I had to try about 4 different brands of contacts before I found the ones that were just right. The assistants at the front are a little pushy with orders. I like to order contacts as I need them, but the assistant I was dealing with kept pushing me to order 6 months worth. So they could be a little less pushy, but hey, I get it, they probably work on some sort of commission so it's understandable. They also gave me a great rate on my contacts, about the same price as somewhere like 1800contacts. I will definitely be returning when it's time to have my eyes checked up. :) read more

The medical side of this office is excellent. The eye exam by Dr. Kwok is always well done and he is very open to questions and concerns. The retinal photo is not covered by my insurance and I generally decline this extra. The Dr after all will look at your retina as part of the exam. The retail part of the store is more expensive than most competitors. I believe the sales people work on a commission basis. The service is always excellent, Shelby who has been there many years is very good. The selection and the product are also good but you need to know that the "extras" will exceed your vision plan allowances so always ask what is covered by your plan and what is not before you agree to an additional feature. I pay for the ones I really want but most are just not necessary. Always ask for a copy of your prescription with the ocular distance so you can order online if you want later on. read more

My daughter bought a pair of glasses here and did not pay their extra fee to insure if broke. She drop her glasses and the frames broke. The store stated they could replace them. This place is fine as long as you don't mind being needlessly alarmed. During a routine eye examination first they measured my eye pressure for glaucoma and told me I had a high reading (28 - the cutoff threshold being 20). They wrote me a referral to an ophthalmologist and suggested I schedule the appointment soon. After all of the stress and worry that comes along with something like that I saw an ophthalmologist (not the one they referred me to) the next week. The ophthalmologist told me my eyes were perfectly healthy, and my eye pressure measurement was actually 16. Of course, I wont' be returning to this place. read more

So, I had come to this office previously and I've always come a few minutes before my appointment time and it never fails, I always have to wait almost an hour after my appointment time. I came in the other day because I was having eye pain. The doctor that saw me rushed me off to see an ophthalmologist (didn't ask if I was free to go but basically made it sound like an emergency). After seeing the ophthalmologist she said that it was nothing to worry about and that it was good that I came to see her. I only came here because I thought they could take care of my eye issue. Honestly if all you need is a regular annual eye exam or contact lens exam, I'd go here (realize that you will definitely be spending about two hours here). Luckily I got lasik at Lasik Plus in Alexandria at the beginning of the year and will never go back to this place again. If I ever have an eye issue, I will go to an ophthalmologist. read more

I'd like to get new contacts, I need them for next week. I take off from work early and go for my appointment, a little excited since I haven't had any for about a year. I check in and give them my ID and insurance and start filling out the paperwork. Then I'm informed that they don't take my insurance at this location, but they do in Fredericksburg, would I like to make an appointment there? 20 miles further out of my way, NO. You contacted me no less than 5 times to verify my appointment but you couldn't tell me that you don't take my insurance until I showed up, I entered the information online. read more

IF JACKED UP PRICES ARE NOT AN ISSUE, THIS SHOP IS FOR YOU! I'm going to echo the sentiments of the other reviews by simply stating that the Doctor was great! The office staff was really nice and provided a great service, even after discussing insurance coverage. **One point that needs to be made before the rest of my epistle is simply this, this particular office is in business to make a huge profit, whether paying that profit to their employees in the form of a bonus or otherwise, they are more concerned with the price you pay than the relationship they build. The issue we had was the cost, even with insurance it was so much higher than just about any other shop. They charged us $60 per box of contacts, our insurance covered two boxes, our out of pocket cost was $120 for two boxes of contacts. Checking with other optical shops in town and online we found that the average cost per box ranged between $24-$35 a box. Up and over that, after speaking to my insurance company about suggested retail charges in our area, we found that the shop also charged the maximum for anti-glare on glasses, and 150% of suggest retail on polycarbonate lenses. They offer a pair of sunglasses if you have insurance and are willing to pay their prices "extras" up and over what the insurance company will cover, whether that be glasses and/or contacts. Once we decided to have the two boxes of contacts covered by insurance and purchase the others on the internet they abruptly requested that we return the $19.99 pair of sunglasses. read more

The optometrist is friendly and professional. No problems there. The service reps at the front are untrained and clueless. They messed up my glasses order AND my contact lens order. I would not return, even though I got a great deal on a groupon. It's a shame though because good doctors are hard to find. Too bad the front office messes it up for the doctor. Update: I was wrong about the doctor. He kept pushing me to a certain brand of contact lenses. Even though I told him I'd been wearing the same brand for the last 15 years in a row with no problems, he kept pushing me to a certain brand. I agreed to try his brand, but I hated it and when I called to switch back, he tried to force me to get a different type of lens by the same company. It was extremely irritating and a serious waste of my time. Picking up my prescription was an hourlong ordeal. I had to wait for someone to write it out, then they wrote it out wrong and I had to wait some more for them to check with the doctor. I had to drive back twice for the prescription. Also, they ordered the wrong glasses for me. They told me they had no record of the correct frame model # and the only way I could get it corrected was to come into the store every few days to see if I could find it on display.
