They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty intimidated myself when we attended a Yelp Elite event at this place and our instructor, Emi, told us we would be learning how to do the merengue(I thought that was pie?). Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). Now, I just drop by daughter off and do errands so that I don't have to be in a crowded environment and it seems to work well. ---old review There are many more ballet schools around Johns Creek that are better looking than Morningstar Dance Academy. However, the teachers are very good. If you are serious about ballet and don't care about the facility and look of the place, you may want to give Morningstar Dance Academy a try. This school seems to be outgrowing its current facility. I think the owner will need to expand soon or create more classes in order to keep the class size down. Right now, my biggest issue is that the classes are so crowded. The state of the facility would be my second biggest gripe. I wish I could watch my daughter's class, but there is no room and there is no window aside from the tiny one on the door. There is also no room for the parents to wait since the adjacent class rooms get filled with chinese language classes. My daughter attends this school with her friends, but I don't know how much longer I will keep her here mostly due to the overcrowding. At first she didn't want to leave her previous school (but i wasn't happy with the lack of growth) so we spent several months trying different schools in the area, as transition is hard. After taking just one class at Morning Star, she said "mom that was the hardest class I've ever taken, I want him (Mr Chen) to train me". We have been there for a little over a year now, and I have seen so much development from her. What she loved is that she gets detailed instructions on what she needed to work on, exercise and stretches that would help develop, the under develop parts of her body, something she wasn't getting at any of the previous schools. She also loved the level of discipline, she felt that all the dancers took the craft seriously. I as a working mom love the flexibility of the school, Instructors allow students to come in and do additional work outside of class time. This along with training alongside girls above her level is something that has aided in my daughter's development. Although smaller than most "fancier" schools in the area and the school we came from, after spending time at just about all of them. I have to say, Morning Star has the best ballet training of all the schools in the area. I would recommend this school to any SERIOUS dancer, because it is intense.

My friend and I never took a hip-hop dance class before, but we were able to pick up the moves because the instructor was clear and confident. He took everything step by step, and kindly re-explained things we didn't pick up the first time. At the end, the whole class ran through the choreo together several times to make sure we got the moves down. Everyone is super supportive and I loved the energy in the room. Overall, great experience and I can't wait to come back for more!

I'm of a certain age and I couldn't figure out the moves so I wanted to quit, until I realized I was getting in my own way. I wanted the joy the instructors and participants had. Then came Beyonce week. I went 3 times a week and have been hooked ever since. It's a healthy supportive community, my hubby says no matter how my day is going I leave there smiling. Come get your dopamine fix, you won't regret it. Also, for the first year I just came to the classes. They did not pressure me to do any of the special community events, I was busy with work anyway. I did one when I felt good and ready, I'm grown. So if you want to just go to a class or two, do it! It's changed how I show up at home, work, and my friends even joined me, joy is contagious.
