They've got a ton of classes and events coming up and they sell clothes there, as well so you can make your tutu and leotard dreams come true. They teach all ages from 2.5 years and up, so there's no reason to be shy. They even have babysitting events so mom & dad can go out while the little ones get some energy out!

Ok, moving on... Emi was super friendly and didn't make any of us feel like we were too stiff to be there (thank God, I saw bullets streaming down hubby's face when we pulled into the parking lot). The event we attended was called Elites Get Coupled, which was appropriate given that it was almost Valentine's Day. Though my guy was totally nervous about this, I'm so glad we went! Emi, along with Lorien, taught us some merengue moves, and it turns out almost anyone can learn to dance. We felt pretty good about our abilities by the end of the event! Lorien brought in her all-girl hip-hop group (I think they're part of the Pin-Up Troupe?), and they were SO COOL... and talented, obviously. I could have watched these ladies perform all day!! Though they may have had me feeling like my new merengue moves were a little lame, at least now I know I have something to work towards... right? One of the best parts about Dancefx is the fact that they're a non-profit and donate to all kinds of local charities that support causes like fighting AIDS, helping the homeless and people with disabilities, and so on. I think it'd be such a thoughtful date idea to bring someone here and learn a couples dance! You get to know each other in a different way and can judge once and for all who's got better moves (I think we all know who won that dance off...wink wink). When I signed up she said the class was going to be beginners ballet and not creative movement since they offered that class as well. I registered her, ordered the "required tights, ballet slippers & leotards" she said was required and after 2 classes of non-ballet and still without ordered outfits I we moved onto CDC. I spent a year calling her to get my daughters ordered apparel and she never came through.

The employee/manager/owner whoever it was could have definitely done better. I understand rules but also a little grace goes a long way. For those that like the long version: Pole dancing is something I find very beautiful but have not had the guts to try until now. Today I visited Vertical Joe's for the first time. I did a fair amount of research before making the decision to check this place out. The hope was to make this place a home where I could find more empowerment. I attempted to register for a mega pass online. I was unable to so instead registered for the 6 p.m. class that I intended to attend anyway. Fast forward to me being pulled out of class because there was no payment on file. I hadn't made a payment, my intention was to pay cash for the mega pass before class. My friend and I arrived late because we came here straight from work. We were allowed in without my registration being verified I guess?  A mistake was made by staff and I was allowed to go into the class. I was told I shouldn't have gone to class without paying. Ok. This is a mistake on the end of the establishment. I misunderstood the site. I thought we could pay cash because it was on option in the checkout window. Payments are only made online. Ok. But to get pulled out of the class for a 10 dollar payment is excessive.

The FACTS Some of the most beautiful, talented, valuable and genuine people were scammed by you (& Tom). You took advantage of young, talented and giving individuals by "luring them in" to your franchise with the tangled web you weaved about them being a "part of your family", "we will help you and your business grow because we want you to be successful just like our first studio" etc, etc, etc. You started out claiming love for your Planet Ballroom family (franchisees, staff and students), but greed took over and all you want is money and more money and more money, at all cost. Not one of these amazing people (franchisees and pro dancers/instructors) were ever without value, talent, or opportunity -Much more talent than you! Only God gives value and talent to each person. And only God provides opportunities to us. Not you. I have never seen a person, beyond the immature years of childhood, preach and purport more about them self and what they do and how great they are and what they accomplish and what an expert they are and how they have done so much good and how they have achieved so much success and how they have provided so much to others and how much wealth they have acquired, than you. If that does not tell even the most basic people in the world that there is certainly something not right about someone that constantly toots their own horn..... The remainder of the FACTS speak for themselves. In the last 4 short years, this franchise/pyramid scheme you started: Approximately 25 franchisees have left (less than a handful still on deck fighting the last fight in the lawsuit against you) the collapsed company- Planet Ballroom 15 franchise locations were opened in that 4 year period. 12 of those locations are PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Some of the franchisees/owners either walked away, or declared bankruptcy - as a result of you scamming them and stealing from them. The other locations left the franchise (with all of THEIR students - because Planet Ballroom, who?, is not a /regional/national household brand) and REBRANDED their studio as a local business. They are happier, less stressed, and MUCH MORE successful WITHOUT you. You did not create ballroom dancing. This art was providing culture, grace, beauty and glamour long before you came around. You did not even create everything you claim these dancers/business owners do in their studios. Remember, Tom took the famous Davita syllabus and renamed it. You do not have people who watch you and your success closely. Seriously? You have 155 followers on FB and 655 on IG, but you have posted 6,280 posts on IG. You consistently have very very few "likes" on every one of your posts. If you really built an empire, it would be obvious in the above stated. facts, and it is not....so - EPIC FAIL there. Lisaney is a talented, creative, extremely smart and very genuine person in his own right. His methods are his own, just as each of us have our own. He is doing his part to "make known" how fake you are, because not one person who experienced you and suffered losses (as you consumed make up, Starbucks, purses, cars, jewelry, luxuries, etc etc, with the money you stole and scammed from hard-working young people) wants to see you do that to another honest and trustworthy talented and valuable person. The franchisees figured out your scam, but not before they incurred, not only financial losses, but also humiliation, disrespect and lies from you (&Tom). You are actually the one that needs the restraining order against you so you cannot scam another person in a fake company - pyramid scheme. I know, it must be difficult for your makeup "fans" out there to believe. But they have not seen you up close and personal, in action, high and mighty, temper tantrums and all. No, they only see the Fake Princess on Social Media. You must not understand that claiming to be an authority, an expert and a specialist comes with accountability. Rather than going through the entire process of explaining this to you, let the facts stated in this post and a sincere reflection on how you have treated your former staff and franchisees, speak for themselves. Honestly, and in all sincerity, you should really examine what you have done and examine how empty your life really is (Yes, it is obvious) and truly humble yourself, get away from social media and your fake life and (even though it will be a grueling process) find what God really wants this time, not you and your "fairytale world". Hard to believe that such a "successful" franchise operation would so completely and thoroughly crash and burn that quickly! Here's one thing epitomizes all that I've known about the franchise. There were many significant holes in the upstairs floor of one studio. Literal holes - an inch wide and several inches long! One part owner fell when her shoe got caught in them, and that happened to many others. Despite many complaints the landlord (the owner of the overall franchise operation at the time) did NOTHING to fix them for YEARS. He knew it was a problem (he had a contractor look at the floor for possible solutions but never fixed it!). How can you claim to be a Christian - and even a decent person - if you risk the health and careers of your employees and your customers for a few bucks? That is greedy AND stupid (injured customers are unlikely to keep paying you and are likely to sue you). They had a great model with the videos and such but they blew it. Update: So now they have devoted their website to crowing about their legal victories and telling partial truths about their former franchisees. Classy, eh? And sort of counterproductive, I think. Their theme is that lots of their franchisees took advantage of them (even though there doesn't appear to be ANY franchises left - what happened to them?!). So why advertise how (allegedly) gullible you are? Who would want to do business with them now when their message is this: "Everyone is evil except us, and all of our studios are closed, but we are business geniuses so trust us with your money! And if things don't work out we'll flame you on our website for all to see!" Uh, sure. And much of their "shocking" evidence was out of context or irrelevant. Any reader of the site will realize they are getting a partial story. These people are very quick to threaten lawsuits. They even threatened a Facebook page run by the STUDENTS of a former studio because there was a picture with their old logo. And they threatened someone who made a benign comment on social media about the wife. Pathetic! Fun fact: Just because you can legally enforce a contract where you took advantage of the business ignorance of someone doesn't mean you were the ethical party. Hypothetically speaking, of course. P.S. My understanding is that the wife was part-owner of the Ballantyne studio, which folded after about 6 months. Did she sue herself over that? What was their excuse for that failure?! They forgot to mention that on their web page.

My experience here is limited to just the Monday night class experience. I was greeted and the front door with a warm welcome by Kevin. I was hoping to attend both the beginner Bachata and a Salsa class, however, the classes that I was interested in were offered during the same hour. I chose the Salsa class and later learned the Instructor was Sean. I was waiting for the beyond the basics class to begin when Sean asked me to join the beginner class since they could use more women. I joined the beginner class, stayed for the next and had a blast! Sean's method of teaching the class makes it easy to learn the steps. The class environment is upbeat and a partner is not required. The studio is located in a shopping center and consists of two small dance studio rooms. The adult Salsa & Bachata classes are Sunday & Monday. They have organized opportunities to practice at Nemos on Thursday and Saturday. They also offer dance classes for children. A class is $20 dropping or a month pass is $65 and there is a Yelp check-in discount of $5 off the month pass. I was visiting here long enough to reap the benefits of a monthly pass. I enjoyed the classes and hope to check out the classes/dance events whenever I'm back in the area. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're interested in learning Latin dance.
