Every part of this review reflects my own personal experiences and perspective as a former student. I share these observations in good faith and hope they offer helpful insight for others. Some teachers were kind and supportive, and I'm grateful for them. But others showed clear favoritism, often treating neurodivergent students, students of color, and those from less affluent families with less patience, care, or respect. I saw students singled out, shamed, or ignored when they needed help. That includes a teacher in the art department, Ms. M**ks (last names) who, despite appearing nice to some, often appeared to treat students who displayed neurodivergence in a harsh and dismissive way. One classmate with ADHD, for example, was frequently criticized for traits beyond their control. I will add that it appears that there is currently a new teacher in her place, and I cannot find this particular teacher on the school website, which is honestly a relief. I watched as she corrected, belittled, or singled out a few (even a few is too many) students who were neurodivergent or just different in how they expressed themselves. One student in particular, who had clear ADHD traits and a real passion for art, was constantly criticized for things like messiness, distraction, or "doing it wrong." It felt like she used that student's neurodivergent traits as targets, rather than offering understanding or support. The dynamic was painful to witness and left a lasting impression on me. There was also a time I was accidentally injured during a class activity involving a particular art material. I wasn't helped or offered first aid--just told it was my fault by that same teacher. That scar stayed on my body for years. There were also incidents involving body shaming in gym class and situations on school trips that felt physically unsafe. Students with invisible needs or without formal diagnoses were often overlooked. While the school talked about values like inclusion and activism, they weren't always reflected in how staff treated students. I hope things have improved since I attended, because all children deserve a safe and supportive learning environment.

Brentfield is the only school where someone knew more about autism than I do. Principal Steve Lemons is a diplomat. He supports his teachers tremendously but he also acknowledges their flaws. He was very deep into football and the football coach ran his offense as if the children were in college, meanwhile all the classes are accelerated. My son felt frustrated and alone with out support. There are no real christian values taught to show in his practical life. For as much as these folks wave the bible, they ridicule and bully their student body. The worst decision I made ever made, dont make this decision to take your kid there without knowing that these folks are mean, they are not forgiving and they dont have one christian bone in their judgemental bodies. Its run like a cult where everyone has to drink the water and their message with out question. No one is given compassion. If you call and decide to have a conference with the upper management or teachers, you will learn that your having a conference with the whole team, which makes you feel like their on the offensive before you even discuss your grievance. Speaking and talking to people as an adult about your grievances' isnt really permitted either. If you were really speaking outside of the school on the interaction and support about the school and the parents were not being recorded, they would tell you everything is horrible and its really not a good place but for fear of losing their son or daughters favor in the school, everyone remains quiet. The teachers and principles are all nepo babies and each person has been a track coach, a principal, a guidance counselor....then their husband or wife gets dragged in and becomes a part of the "team" where your not really learning from the best people but just who is avaliable and will subscribe to their "way of doing things" Its not a nice place for my son to grow up and I am glad I got out before he lost his sense of freedom and his self esteem. He left his junior year, and he worked harder to achieve because public school doesnt accept religious classes as history but I dont regret his decision to move on. In the end he made it to college just fine. Were fine but felt a need to speak my families truth. If you wanna waste your families money and time, send them to this school, point blank. It saddens and frustrates me a little to read the negative reviews of PCA by students who attended…read morehere and missed the entire message of the love and transformational power of Christ. PCA is a Christian school - unapologetically standing on the Word of God for authority and guidance in all matters, including those pertaining to life, culture, gender, sexuality, etc. Those students who are unwilling to follow Biblical principles relating to God's design for gender and sexuality will find PCA frustrating not because the students and faculty are unloving or not caring, but because they are running counter to God's best for their lives. Period. My wife and I both work at PCA, all three of our children have attended PCA, and we have loved our time here at this school. PCA places Christ at the center of all that is done and while some have "complained" that PCA is an economically elite school, I have been amazed to see how far this school will go to make a Kingdom education available to any family that wants it! PCA raises and gives away literally millions of dollars for families to be able to attend - and PCA is at the forefront of trying to educate our state legislators on different educational funding opportunities to help address the cost of private education - instead of blaming PCA for providing an excellent education, those who are frustrated with the cost should be contacting their state legislators and asking why other states have passed laws that make private education more affordable and Texas hasn't. I personally know the students who have taken the time to write their negative reviews and I feel sorry for their anger and frustration, but again, their perspective of the school is really more of a commentary on their perspective on Biblical Christianity itself. If you want a school that adheres to the principles of Scripture and isn't tossed to and fro by the winds of the current cultural chaos, the comments of these students should help you understand that PCA isn't willing to compromise on Biblical truth. My prayers are with those students that they would one day know the truth and the truth would set them free.

During a long, hard divorce, where we tried to keep our kids invested in their church, my kid's youth mentor told my child "I'm so sorry you have a mother like yours." She was heartbroken. And refuses to return. None of us are prefect, but I'm private and only one side was heard. Grace wasn't given, love needed to be earned. This church was the final straw and after decades of me searching for God, this Church taught our family that Faith comes from us and not a building full of judges. My kid saw it before I ever did. And that's heartbreaking. Since we left...we coparent and our kids are thriving without having to meet so many moral expectations. So maybe the heights saved us in the end.

(The one I attend is for the 50+ age group at 9:30 a.m., so we can attend 11 a.m., and we love it too. It's called Open Door.) I believe their is a mid-week ministry for young adults, and there definitely is that for kids and teens.
