5 Star Roofing & Restoration

While replacing a nieghbor's roof, the sales people with 5 Star Roofing came knocking and offering…read moreto check my roof to see if it would qualify for a free replacement. I was a bit skeptical to let strangers on the roof, but they explained that they were able to get my neighbors roof covered by their home owners insurance at no cost UL other than their deductible. I let them take a look, and sure enough there was storm damage from hail and wind over the years. From there they took the reins, contacted my insurance on my behalf, incited the insurance adjuster out and met with him to show the areas of concern. And like that, I was approved for a new roof, minus my deductible. They ordered the r materials, arranged the work crew to come out, even had a dumpster delivered with a port-a-potty attached so they didn't have to come in the house. The whole process was painless and effortless on my behalf, other than having to listen to a day of banging and nailing on my roof, they were in and out in less than 2 days, leaving a beautiful new roof. My only complaint, and I should have checked is I still find roofing nails in the near the down spots when it rains. When cleaning the gutters I realized there were a lot of old pulled nails from tearing the old roof off. They could certainly work in their clean up procedure and check the gutters. But all in all I was very pleased with their work and their communication with the insurance company's, one less headache for me, and now I don't have to worry about an impending leak. I would recommend

I can understand some incurred cost, but this was excessive. I felt blindsided by the bill. The roofers covered up our skylight on the job as well, so we had to schedule them to come back and fix it. We spent days picking up nails around the yard to protect our dog from stepping on loose materials. I would not ever recommend this company. Please find another company.

A burst pipe resulted in a flood which required considerable cleaning up and repair. I have zero…read moreexperience of such things, this was my first flood and my first insurance claim. The insurance company suggested Servepro so I called them and they arrived the next day to begin drying the place. I also agreed to let them take care of the repairs and restoration. While some mistakes were made by them or their subcontractors in the process, they made everything right in the end and I got the impression from the man in charge of restoration (Chad - good guy) that they wanted to do a good job and not get paid for anything they'd not done properly. I hope to never need such a service again, but if I did, I'd have no objection to calling them again.

Avoid this company at all costs. My bad experience was much like what I have now read in this…read morecompany's the other negative reviews on Yelp. The reconstruction which should have been done in a few weeks at most, took 5 months, with weeks during which no one showed up to work at all, and was done very poorly. Communication throughout was awful, both with me and between the project manager and his subcontractor. Servpro tried to get me to pay for work they didn't do and is refusing to pay for damage they did (which was documented in their own photographs). Yes, you will need a lawyer. This is absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They take advantage of you when you are already down. Shame on Tim Coffey and his entire company.

NC Farm Bureau Insurance

Everything was recorded on my dash cam. It's been 2 weeks and no decision on my claim !!!!read more

Beware: filing legitimate claims can result in the losing the policy!…read more I've been a Farm Bureau customer for 25 years (and my parents for 55 years) and was so disappointed by how poorly my homeowners insurance was handled this year. In mid-November, I received a single mailed letter saying my policy would not be renewed in two weeks due to "claims history" and "condition of the home." I received no email, no portal notifications, and no communication from my agent before this letter arrived. This was upsetting because my home is in excellent condition. I had just completed $60,000 of professional remediation for water damage, and the adjuster confirmed that I did not need a new roof or have maintenance issues. I did file two claims this year (my first claims ever) after Hurricane Helene: they were very small--under $3,000 total--and both related to the same water damage, but Farm Bureau treated them as separate claims. This "claims history" made it very difficult to find new homeowners insurance. My agent, Bruce Johnson, told me he didn't know the policy had been cancelled. After that call, he never returned any of my calls again. I had to visit the office in person for help. Finally, Farm Bureau failed to properly cancel my auto policy and then withdrew nearly $600 from my account. I was told it could take a month to get this money back. After decades of loyalty, this has been deeply disappointing. Homeowners deserve to know that even filing small, legitimate claims can put your coverage at risk.
