You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

I had heard about what is called an "Eco experience education" through a kids meetup group I'm in…read moreand thought it would be fun to set up for my daughters Girl Scout troop. It was! Michelle, a marine biologist, runs these programs, and she was fantastic to work with. Our group did the "seine-sational field trip". We met at pelican harbor park at low tide and Michelle and an assistant waded into the water with our troop and nets to see what marine life we could find. The nets are emptied into either a bucket (for shells, grasses, etc) or a little aquarium that was set up on the beach. Once we had found enough Michelle brought out special water microscopes and leaflets and worked with the girls to identify what they found while sharing information in a fun and informative way. Michelle also makes sure that nothing is harmed or touched during this and all specimens are returned to the ocean. The girls had a blast and the parents where all so impressed by the program and Michelle that we are already planning which of her programs we want to do next and what week we want to send our kids to her summer camps. Prices for the programs vary depending on if you are a school, a non profit, a group or just an individual doing one of the open to the public times. As a group, we paid just under $15 a girl (adults were free) for this particular program, which was two hours long.

When I followed up with a few simple clarification questions about the package and the details in the contract, she abruptly canceled everything instead of responding. After that, she completely stopped communicating. I later heard from someone else who had a similar experience--her contract was also canceled after asking questions. That kind of pattern is really concerning. It felt incredibly unprofessional and honestly bizarre. Asking questions before committing to an event should be normal, not a reason to be shut down. I would be very cautious booking here if you expect clear communication or flexibility.

It's been a while since I've ice skated but it wasn't hard to pick up again…read more For Miami Beach residents, it's only $5.00 for 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon between 3-5pm. if you're able to use hockey skates, they have those too which is what I prefer. They have other public skate days so check out their schedule to learn what they are. Bring gloves as it can be a bit on the chilly side, and you definitely don't want to freeze your butt off for those 2 hours. Plus if you happen to slip and fall, your hands will stay warm. Also, come with a jacket and maybe a couple layers; no one has fun while shivering. When I arrived at 4pm, there was only an hour left to skate and the condition of the ice was already hacked. I think they should resurface the ice between the 2 hours as it would make the experience much more enjoyable; it wouldn't take more than 10 mins or so...at least the outer edge where most people skate around and not the center area. Sure it's much slicker, but the way the ice was...you would be tripping over holes that would catch your skates out of no where. Most of the skaters were from young children 3 years told to men in their 50s or so who can really skate. Kinda how I-95 is with so many different drivers with so many different skills; it could be a formula for a head on.

Crespi Park amenities include a large multi-purpose field with a shade pavilion, paved fitness path, picnic tables, outdoor fitness equipment for strength and stretching, and a basketball court with lighting. In March of 2015, the park received a new playground through a partnership between the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation, KaBOOM!, the Irie Foundation, and Jet Blue. Children from the neighborhood collaborated on the playground design and 250 local volunteers built it in one day. The playground has climbing equipment, slides, and spring riders. Visitors to this well maintained neighborhood park can enjoy activities such as basketball, jogging, workouts, and play. The park says no dogs allowed but I did see a few well behaved pups also enjoying outdoor recreation. I also saw someone practicing operating their drone. Neatly trimmed trees and plants and shade and beauty to the park. Parks like this one provide welcome recreational resources to the communities they are placed in.

There's a shooting part which is really hard because the things you need to shoot at are slightly to heavy for the "ammo" you're using making it insanely hard to get them to move properly.
