I am a novice at dollhouse making, and this place is amazing. At my first visit Marge gave me the tour of all the massive dollhouses she has on display in the window, which was absolutely lovely. I can only wish to skill up to that level! She also has many stories on how the large houses are used in movies. But as a novice, she guided me through what she had in stock, which changes more frequently than I could imagine. If you see something, you truly have to snag it as it most likely is the only one she has. She explained how lighting works, which guided me to choose battery operated fixtures. The shop has items I haven't even seen online, so to see them in person is great to gauge how it would look in my own dollhouse. This is a hobby store, not a toy store. These items are incredibly delicate and fragile. I understand Marge needing to remind everyone to be careful, as a precaution. When an ornate item can be upwards of $150, precautions are appreciated! The prices are very fair for such a niche hobby. I would choose My Doll's House over Amazon and Hobby Lobby any day. Support small business! Encourage niche hobbies! read more

Shoppers beware! This is a charming shop with all kinds of incredible miniatures and intricate doll houses but clearly only for serious mature collectors and non-Asians. My experience is definitely different from the other reviewers. Unfortunately, what could've been an incredible shopping experience was ruined by the terrible behavior and attitude of the mother and son co-owners. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with constant harsh reminders not to touch anything, to be careful about everything, to step away from everything, and we were watched like hawks as if we were going to shoplift every second. It was deeply uncomfortable. We were extremely respectful and careful as we always are in these kinds of stores with delicate objects. Both owners who are elderly and should know better with age, didn't smile once and were completely unfriendly even though we ended up making purchases. My poor 6 yr old niece was frightened and couldn't even enjoy the experience and she loves doll houses so much. It's really too bad because there aren't many of these specialty stores left and as much as we want to support local, this was the first and LAST time we will ever return to this miserable store. We will instead purchase miniatures at Michael's & Hobby Lobby where we are not treated as thieves. read more

This place has so many cool items and there's top of the line but also cheaper stuff. They had almost everything I needed. You can find just about everything you need as far as furniture and specialty items. I can't speak about the quality of the doll houses as I didn't check those out but I saw a variety of them on display. The prices range from comparable to most miniature stores to very expensive for the well made pieces. Still they were beautiful. The woman in the store working who took care of me was friendly, informative, and helpful. I could tell that she enjoys what she does. Not only does this store have a TON of great furnishings, building materials and fabulously tricked-out dollhouses to look at, but its owners Marge and Jim are a wealth of information and "how-to" expertise that they willingly share with patience! Having gotten a shell of a doll house for my birthday in 1975, I am just now getting around to fixing it up and have been tapping into the brains of Marge and Jim and their 30+ years of knowledge to get the job done. From electrical to roof applications, we're slowly getting it done! The shop offers both low and high-end lighting and furnishings. In addition to the two of them, they also have a pool of craftsmen who can help with the trickier stuff (like window openings that for some reason aren't "standard sizes!) and expertly repair furniture (that's been broken from being dragged around for over 30 years!!). It's always great to come across a store that's run by lovely, knowledgeable people and I just can't recommend them enough! :O) read more

James and Marge are the mother/son ownership team of this little gem tucked away in Old Town Torrance. My wife's business is nearby and she stopped in and was enchanted. We ended up purchasing an easy to build pre-finished 1/12 scale dollhouse on Jame's recommendation and we were delighted with the results. The dollhouse is for our 10 year old daughter and she can't stop playing with her new toy. The store is packed with fantastic miniatures for every room, activity, and style of dollhouse miniatures. If you are into this hobby then this store is a must see. I doubt you will leave without finding something to take home with you It's just a pleasure to find a small business that's stocked this deep, run by caring, expert, and friendly people. Amazing shop located in the historic, downtown Torrance. The shop owner, Marge and her son Jim are welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. My first experience with My Doll's House was wonderful and so have every experience after that. I love the large selection of dollhouse furnishings, houses, tools, and lighting. I had never worked on a dollhouse before and Marge and Jim were more than willing to share their years of invaluable knowledge with a newbie like me. It is not surprising that this store is famous, even Disney had two dollhouses made here for their theme park in Japan. So many intricate pieces of "art work", I would say. They are all just too nice for kids. It's really a store for grown ups. Every little piece is very detailed and beautiful, and so it comes with a price too. Not kid friendly, or not even friendly at all actually. We said hi twice and thanks twice and bye once and the lady ignored us the whole time. We were very respectful and didn't touch the glass, as noted everywhere, but I guess they don't just don't like people with kids? Oh well. This is a doll house for adults. read more
