I've visited Lyon countless of times, and I always walk past MY Cupcake on my way to the Rhône river. It had intrigued me, being an "American cupcake shop," but I decided to put my skepticism aside and try it out during my last trip in town.
Inside is small with limited seating, but had a cozy atmosphere to it. Dozens of eye-catching cupcakes lined the long display row, the number of options seemingly endless. I opted for a Speculoos and a mango-passion fruit. Cupcakes were reasonably priced, at less than 3 euros each, which I found on-par with US prices. Staff was young and very welcoming. I received my cupcakes to-go in a little tote which I found incredibly adorable.
Upon tasting the cupcakes, I knew right away that they were on-point with the cupcakes in the US, if not better. It was what the archetype of a cupcake should be: large, moist, piled high with frosting, bursting with flavor. Both cupcakes I had checked all those categories. What made it even better was that it wasn't overly dense, as I've experienced in the past with others. My Speculoos and mango-passion cupcakes hit all the marks in terms of taste, presentation, and American nostalgia. My cupcakes were certainly MY Cupcake(s)!
Definitely will go back to try the dozen or so other flavors. Would absolutely recommend! read more
