I had some last minute unplanned travel changes that landed me in Lyon for a few days. Being the gastronomic capital of France, I wanted to dine at as many Michelin Star restaurants as I could. As fortune would have it, I only had a day or two in advance, so I was only able to reserve a table at one. That meant I had time to visit a little restaurant my friend told me I absolutely HAD to try. I'm so glad I took his advice. Words can't do justice to how truly incredible it was, but I'll do my best to describe my experience... Atmosphere: 5 The restaurant was very nice but not pretentious. The kind of place you could go to dressed up for a very special occasion or dressed casually for a delicious lunch. I was dressed very casually and felt as welcome as the man dressed to the nines a few tables from me. Service: 5 I don't typically write reviews about service because, frankly, I care much more about the food. However, the service here was so above and beyond excellent, I had to include it. My waiter was not only incredibly professional and knowledgeable, but was genuinely kind. I could really tell how much he cared about me and my experience and how passionate he was about the food he was serving. I had similar positive interactions with the rest of the staff as well. In fact, the chef personally reached out to me on Instagram to thank me for mentioning them in my stories. How cool is that?! Food: 5 I honestly don't know how to even put the food into words. It was indescribably delicious. Every aspect of the meal, from start to finish, was absolutely perfect. No exaggeration, my brain released so much dopamine in response to the meal, I legitimately felt high for at least an hour afterwards. I didn't even know food could do that. It was really that good. In conclusion: I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. It's been over a year since I've been and I still think about it almost daily. one of my favorite meals, ever. i went on a weekday because…read morethey have cheaper set lunches. there's a €39 menu that lets u choose 3 course, and a 5 course inspiration menu that's €62 (2 starters, 1 fish, 1 meat and 1 dessert). im quite a picky eater but i also want to be more adventurous with the ingredients i eat and the flavors, so i decided to go with the inspiration menu. i also have a few allergies but the server was very helpful in accommodating for those. 5 course was definitely a lot of food and i was dumb for eating breakfast that day. i'll first talk about the service and the vibes. I sat outside because it was a sunny day. the restaurant was located in a rather quiet area right next to the theatre, so it was very pleasant to be outside. the inside dining room also looks elegant and well-decorated. the restaurant seem well staffed, at least from the servers perspective. they were all very friendly and helping each other out - no rude condescending servers that always terrifies me a little bit at fancy restaurants. they always explain every dish and will try their best to answer any question you have. they also time the courses very well, so you get a brief break between courses but not too much that you get bored. now onto the food. i don't remember every single detail of each dish, but you can see most of them from the food. everything was so carefully balanced and beautifully crafted. the free appetizer was a simple parmesan pastry with butter. the pastry was nice and flakey but not dry, the butter wasn't very seasoned but there's flavor to the patty so it was fine. the first starter was oysters, green apple, leek vinaigrette sorbet, salad (some are dehydrated to add texture) as well as a jelly-like thing at the bottom (sorry forgot what it was). im not an oyster fan, i dislike leek, and i don't really eat green apples, but somehow the flavors blended together so perfectly that i finished basically everything. i thought the sorbet was especially genius, presenting the seasoning in a highly creative way and also help make the dish extra refreshing. the second starter was ravioli in a foie gras sauce. the sauce was so good i ended up pairing some with bread. i picked the homemade cornbread and it was just delicious goodness. the fish i got was trout because im allergic to salmon. the fish was well cooked with a bit of crispiness on the skin, and it was paired with a green purée. i believe they said brocoli - the texture seems a little bit like Chinese broccoli. well seasoned, well balanced. the meat dish was steak. very tender meat that sits over a mixture of grilled garlic and hazelnuts. they pour the meat jus over after they bring the dish over, and i absolutely loved the flavor combination of hazelnuts, steak and jus. the artichokes were all very tender and well seasoned. the dessert was pistachio ice cream on top of chocolate and crunchy nuts. absolutely loved the presentation in the gold plate, and i was so pleasantly surprised by the fact that, despite this being a chocolate creamy dessert, it did not feel heavy at all. this went to the whole meal too - there was a lot of food, and i knew i was definitely full at various points throughout the meal, but at the end i was a very happy and comfortable full. all of that was €62 i literally cannot ask for anything more in life. i think this is one of the benefits of not going to a big name michelin star restaurants that slaps caviar to bump up the price. the ingredients were honestly very simple here, but they were just combined in such creative ways that it was an amazing meal nevertheless. i sent this place to all my friends who will be visiting Lyon. absolute favorite! great experience and can't wait to come back one day.
