I have been here a couple times with friends to study. The coffee, pastries, and atmosphere is really great. I got different iced coffees each time and they tasted great. However, they are $7-$8 per coffee and that, even for this area, is pricey. They all have the famous Belgium waffles (if in stock)which are delicious. I like coming here to study with my friends and they have free Wi-Fi. However when it comes to actually purchasing something, I'm a bit hesitant due to the price and therefore deducted a star. read more

This coffee shop is beautiful. It's definitely a great place to study given their indoor and mostly outdoor seating (with cushions! for those long hours before a midterm) and reliable WiFi. The ambience of this coffee shop definitely hits the mark. If I had to describe their drinks as of now, however, I would say that they're just alright. I ordered the orange blossom latte and truthfully didn't enjoy it, especially given the steep price. It had a light orange syrup-based flavor, and I couldn't taste much of the espresso or any richness/creaminess from the milk. My friend ordered the matcha latte and thought it was a good as a basic drink. The service here is great, and I'd love to come back and try some of their pastries. Been here a couple times now during my pandemic sanity-walks and am so thrilled to have this quaint coffee shop in the neighborhood. What strikes you first is how cute the outdoor seating is, and what you walk away with is wonderful and sweet customer service and a delicious drink! I really like that they have a condensed menu (great for an indecisive person like me) and a bunch of yummy, sugary goods on display. I've had their pumpkin latte and matcha latte now and both are solid. I liked that they kept the lid open for me so I could snap a pic of their heart latte art. They're doing great in terms of COVID precautions. They have a plexiglass divider where you order/pay and contactless hand sanitizer dispenser. I absolutely can't wait until we can dine again. Due to SIP, we couldn't enjoy this very cute and laid out coffee shop with plenty of natural light and outdoor seating. We did however order 2 coffees and a cookie to go. They offer a range of coffee and a few pastries (scones, pain au chocolat, Belgian waffle, 2 types of cookies). Service was great and honestly the coffee was delicious and well prepared. The cookie was fine. They generously offered to heat it up, but unfortunately we ate it well after it cooled. D'OH! Why not 5? It was a tad bit pricey. $1 surcharge for almond milk, which I know is normal, but I'm trying to fight the fight. Almond and oat milk are no longer more expensive that regular milk, is it necessary to upcharge your customers 25% on milk? Anyway, 2 lattes and a cookie was $16 with a tip, which I think I'd be more ok paying if I was enjoying the space for a few hours while working. Definitely quality over quantity at this cozy, family coffee shop. I usually prefer Mochas over Lattes, but I guess it depends on the day. When you think of Mochas, they tend to be slightly sweet and chocolatey right? But their Mochas here, although still sweet, is on the milkier & less chocolatey side. It was still good, just not how I imagined Mochas to be. I loved the latte- just the right enough of bitterness enough for me to look forward to the next sip as I sulk through my studies haha... This coffee place is very unique; I love it. It's like a castle, garden, and maze all in one. Pre-COVID, there were (are) lots of outdoor seating areas available especially in the back. We loved coming here after a hike we compiled in Oakland! We always passed by this spot when we visit Berkeley and decided to give it a shot. So glad we did! Such a cute and friendly atmosphere with PLENTY of outdoor seating! First time at this locally owned coffeehouse and from decoration to flavor, everything was so well curated. The owners were very friendly, greeting frequent guests by name, and also extending warm welcomes to first time customers like us. There was a line going in, as they are currently limiting capacity, but the line moved quickly. It was not long before we entered the small entryway and placed our order. We got to watch them make the coffee and, overall, with three people ahead of us, we were still able to get our coffee within 10 minutes of ordering it. The mocha itself was well balanced - made with OATLY oat milk, it was rich and the espresso was also well extracted. I love the design of this place! Makes you feel like you've blasted to a Fairytale movie made by Pixar/Disney!! I've been meaning to come and try this place out since it opened back in summer of 2019. Right now there is no seating due to Covid and is all take out. The staff was also extremely friendly so I pushed this up to 5 stars :) COVID precautions: No seating at all. Plexiglass in between you and staff when ordering. The staff also sprays down the screen display after you sign/tip. After, he even made sure I knew there was an hand sanitizer dispenser to the left of me which I really appreciated. Coffee is a little bit pricier as it was $5.5 for 10 ounces (I did get almond milk though). I think the texture of the coffee was smooth and espresso was definitely nutty and chocolatey. It was aromatic but I wish it was a little more foamy like cappuccinos usually are. Other than that, I really enjoyed my visit here and would love to visit with friends after COVID to just sit outside and relax on the weekends. I have been a patriot of this establishment since they first opened. I've had a good rapport with the family at this place. I have supported their business three times a week for coffee and or pastries. As a regular customer, I get the same thing every week, a croissant or a danish. Never have I had a burnt croissant. Came here with my sister (see her review) to enjoy a nice afternoon coffee. The cafe itself is beautiful, this old-timey little place that'd fit in perfectly to a Welsh countryside but-for it being in Berkeley. Upon entry there was a brilliantly made advert for their Orange Blossom Latte and it captured me immediately; the owner then doubled-down to make sure I got one, and is it ever a delight. They use orange zest to flavor the latte and it comes out strong but smooth; there is no hint of it being juicy or flavored otherwise, even if those are present. Back again on another rare trip to Berkeley. Still excellent. Today I paid for the $12 Salma Gesha because I knew she'd make it perfectly. Anywhere else, I couldn't justify paying. It's rare to find someone who can make pour overs as perfectly as she does. After we arrived there was a flood of people. But this place has great and ample seating. Great atmosphere. After I wrote the above, we decided we had to try the citrus lattes. We had one of each, the Orange Blossom Latte and the Lemon Blossom Latte. We did them hot, half decaf, with oat milk. They were excellent. My wife said she'll always get the Orange from now on. I thought the Lemon might be better iced. Another reviewer said they use the best oat milk. I definitely agree. First off this place is so cute! One of the cutest coffee shops I've seen in norcal. I visited on a Sunday afternoon to grab an iced latte and it wasn't too busy. The latte: as good as a latte can get! The owners are very friendly and super informative about the beans/ingredients they use. Instead of using syrups, they make their own vanilla simple syrup in house with organic vanilla bean and offer it as a natural sweetener if you don't like your lattes too strong. There's plenty of seating (even during shelter in place) outdoor and they take precaution by putting dirty/clean signs where you can sit and enjoy a cup. One of my new favorite coffee shops in Berkeley/Bay Area! First off, this shop looks like a fairytale cottage. The owner said its decor was inspired by its mysterious nature because apparently there is no real record about this building area from Berkeley City Hall since 1940-something. Now onto their drinks. Their iced latte is absolutely amazing, on par with my other favorite coffee chains. If you like Verve and Devout, you'll definitely be a fan here. Their coffee has a creamy and sweet aftertaste. I also tried their matcha latte but didn't think it stood out, quite lacking on the matcha flavor actually. Finally, they have outdoor seating so you can sit there and enjoy your drinks while keeping a safe distance from other customers. They even put out signs indicating whether the tables are clean or dirty. Attention to detail and safety is another reason why I'd recommend this place! read more

I stumbled upon this cute family owned coffee shop on a walk today and I am shocked I've never noticed it before! The exterior is so whimsical and inviting and the service was just as sweet! My friend and I decided to check it out and grabbed a couple of drinks. She got the nitro cold brew which she enjoyed and I got a chai latte with oat milk ($5.50; subbing milk is $1 extra). The chai was not too sweet and was pretty spicy. I liked it! The price is pretty up there but as are most coffee shops in the area. What I loved was the cute patio area and the indoor seating. Inside, all the windows are open to allow for air flow and it looked like there were heaters in case it got too chilly. People were studying both indoors and outdoors with their masks. Firstly, this coffee shop is really cute, like you feel like you're in a castle cute. They also have a ton of outdoor seating set up around the perimeter, but fenced off from the main road. You can tell it's a spot where people park and work or study for hours, and I love coffee shops like that. I was also very impressed by their Covid precautions. There is hand sanitizer everywhere, and plexiglass separating the baristas from customers. There's good airflow and I watched the gentleman at the check out machine/iPad spray it down as soon as I was done touching it. 5 stars for Covid precautions! I only removed a star because I had asked for my drink to be single shot, and they said no. I understand sometimes a double shot is pulled automatically, so I asked if they could spill half of it out, no. In the end I got a half-caf drink, it was just odd that I couldn't do a single shot. This coffee shop is adorable and has great customer service. When my friend and I first walked in, we were quite indecisive! While I know my usual go to coffee orders, I saw that they had a special Pumpkin Latte available. I was hesitant at first because I find pumpkin based drinks to be quite overwhelming. However, the barista convinced me by letting me know that their version used real pumpkin puree and wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Since I'm quite indecisive, I love how patient the staff was here as my friend and I pondered our choices. I ended up with a Pumpkin Latte with Oat Milk! It was delicious and gave me the caffeine boost I needed to get my day started. FYI for oat milk/alternative milk lovers, it does cost a $1 extra for this substitution, but at this point in our alternative milk lives we really shouldn't be surprised (am I right or am I right - hahaha)! It's unlike any coffee shop I've ever visited because from the outside looking in, you wouldn't initially imagine it to be a coffee shop! There are stone walls and it felt like I was looking at a building that was ripped out of a Disney movie! I didn't realize until I read a few Yelp reviews right now the building was once a historical spot? Correct us all if we're wrong! But no matter - it's so cute. Lovely to sit in. So glad I've found this cozy little place! MY Coffee Roastery is a locally-owned cafe located in Downtown Berkeley. It is a bit of a walk from campus, but the coffee quality is absolutely superb. Cappuccino (5/5): Wow. Not only was this presentation gorgeous, but the ratios were beautifully balanced. The milk did not drown out the flavor of this full-bodied espresso, and the layer of foam was thin (so as to not overtake the drink) and held a smooth, substantive consistency. Pumpkin latte (5/5): MY Coffee Roastery uses *real* pumpkin purée, so the flavor is true to its title -- not overwhelmingly sweet like its popular "pumpkin spice" counterpart at other cafes around town. This drink also photographed beautifully, clearly. The space itself looks half trendy coffee shop, half like something out of a fairytale with stone walls, stained glass windows, and a faux-candlelit chandelier. The staff was incredibly gracious and warm. I would've stayed all day had there been more outlets so I could continue studying on laptop -- that being said, once the horrors of Dead Week have come and gone, I hope to visit again, unplugged and armed with a good book instead. read more

We came to this place because the reviews were amazing and the place looked super cute on the pictures but not all of our expectations were met. The biggest reason why I am taking the time to even write this review is because the friend who was there with me has dietary restrictions and maintains a strict keto diet due to that. She requested a hot latte and asked if they had heavy cream, to which the cashier said yes. She asked if she could have heavy cream instead of regular milk in her coffee, willing to pay extra for it. But the cashier kept turning back to another staff member who kept saying no. Didn't wanna argue, but overall, the coffee was okay, they had cute hearts on them. Other than that, paid $22 for three regular sized lattes. The location is cute but much smaller than in the pictures. Pick hours could be packed, had to scout for chairs for our table. read more
