Chef Forrest is beyond passionate about…read morenot only his beloved low country cuisine, but sharing the story of how it developed into what it is today. His tour is a delightful experience that takes you back in time to really understand why this cuisine is so important to our country's heritage. The walking tour is very pleasant and truly interesting, and the lunch that follows is absolutely amazing. The menu changes with the season and is always made with nothing but local ingredients. This time we started with a delicious Butternut Squash soup followed by Shrimp and Grits. Now, this one of my favorite dishes and I've never tasted better. We finished with bread pudding made from Krispy Kreme doughnuts?? Shut the front door! My wife and I would do this again and again. This a must do, and we highly recommend you put it on your list!

Walked for about an hour through historical places and ended up at the Azur restaurant. Chef says he changes the menu weekly, but we had gazpacho THAT WAS AMAZING, the best shrimp & grits of my life and ended with a local Huguenot torte. Tip: Pack a bottle of water for the walk - or you can purchase a drink near the beginning of the walking tour at a coffee shop. We take food tours everywhere we travel and this one was the best, hands down!

Our second time here. After the first time, we recommended coming here to s number of people and…read morethe ones who then came were so very glad to have had the experience here. What do you have is Chef Bob Waggoner who has been a recognized chef for 30+ years. An affable, friendly, humorous teacher of skills and cooking, who will answer your questions quickly and effectively. The food "we" prepared, obviously with a lot of help from Chef Bob, was delicious beyond belief. Bob of course chooses the menu and buys all of the ingredients for each one of the appetizers, of the main course, and the dessert. As you smell what you are cooking, it comes alive to your nose and to your other senses. After that you sit down and eat your appetizer and then go back to fix your main course and then of course the dessert later. I wish that my photos would give some idea of the tastiness of our meal. It is so difficult to explain the taste of a meal that you have created, although Chef Bob was quickly back and forth to each of the 6 stoves being used by 12 strangers, who by the end of the evening (2 1/2 hours!) were not strangers any longer.

I've been to plenty of similar events, as well as a lot of high-end chefs tasting menus in the area, and this is definitely on of Charlestons best.

It was very hot but our tour guide Michael was very considerate about keeping us in the shade while telling us some local history. The restaurants we went to were all very close so the walking part was easy. We very much enjoyed all of the food on the tour. They were mainly things I probably would not order so it was fun to taste new things. The portions were just right too! Our group had 14 people but Michael did a nice job of sharing his knowledge and explaining what we were eating on both sides of the table so we all were included on the information. Michael was very friendly and easy to listen to. We very much enjoyed all of the stories and historical information! We learned a lot!

Charleston Upper King Street Culinary Tour Guide: Georgia…read more 4 stops is pretty low for a food tour, especially since the last one was gelato. Our 3rd stop was a chicken quesadilla and tortilla chips with salsa and queso. I would never call that a "culinary experience". The mussels on the first stop was good but it was shared and some people are gross. A woman I was sharing with used the fork she ate off of to pick mussels out of our shared bowl AND double dipped her bread in the mussel juice. Individual small portions would've been better especially considering I traveled alone. I chose this company because it was local, when I typically use the same one, thinking it would've been the best. I was fooled. This was my least favorite food tour of all my travels. The others might be better. Stops & Food: 1. 39 Rue de Jean- mussels, bread, truffle fries, and brussel sprouts 2. Uncork Charleston - meatball (golf ball sized) 3. El Jefe Texican Cantina- chicken quesadilla, tortilla chips with queso and salsa 4. Tinto Café & Provisions- gelato
