It's Sunday 8/9/26 at 8:30am and our car overheats in a drive thru and we had to keep turning it off. Luckily we were a few miles from home and let it cool so we could drive instead of walking 2 miles in 100+ temps. Christian Brothers put us in a really dangerous position. When we had to get the Ford fixed for the second time that was a red flag that we should've listened to. But because we needed our overheated Trax towed, it was easiest to go with Christian Brothers. Let me tell you... Do you not take the easy way out because of the "free tow" because after $1300 our car is still not fixed and now we have to take PTO and rearrange our schedules all over again. I don't think it's a free tow anyhow; I'm sure it's added to the cost of the car services.

I reached out to a friend who is car-savvy for advice on where to take it, and he pointed me here. The scheduler was super friendly and efficient and got me on the books a few days after my call. The vibe was completely different than the dealership, as I felt like the folks at Max Automotive genuinely cared about getting me taken care of and figuring what the issue was with the vehicle. They also understood that at over 20 years old and nearly 200,000 miles, I wasn't going to perform any heroics for this car. We came up with a good plan to keep the car running for as long as possible with as minimal maintenance as possible. I look forward to working with the team here for maintenance of my new old car.

When I arrived, I was told there was coolant everywhere, that it would need to be cleaned up, and that they would need to take a look at it. I simply asked how much that additional work would cost. Instead of giving me an estimate or even offering to inspect the vehicle, I was told, "We're not going to do this. There are many automotive places you can take it to." That response was extremely disappointing and a complete waste of my time. I brought my vehicle to an automotive repair shop expecting them to diagnose the issue, explain what needed to be done, and provide an estimate so I could make an informed decision. If Max Automotive wasn't willing or able to handle the situation, they could have simply said so when I initially scheduled the appointment rather than having me bring the vehicle in. I understand that not every repair shop can or wants to take on every job, but dismissing a customer after they have made the trip to the shop and refusing to even provide an estimate is poor customer service. I would not recommend Max Automotive based on this experience.

I took my fully customized 38 Ford steel body to Gemba Automotive at 13315 W. Bell Road with a…read moresqueek and a leak in the power steering. My car had 4308 miles on it when I bought it 5 years ago. It now has 9400 miles on the 350 Chevy engine. I was charged $2960. Angel at the front desk said I had an oil leak, a transmission leak, and a power steering leak. I check levels often. I haven't had to add a drop of either oil or transmission fluid since I've owned it. They said the gaskets were over tightened causing the leaks. THEY DON'T LEAK! They did work that didn't need to be done. They also replaced the rack and pinion assembly. The squeak only happened when turning right up a grade and only for a second. $2960 and I still had a squeak and a leak. THEY FIXED NOTHING. When I took it back they said the manifold gasket and the distributor gasket were leaking now. How did this happen? I wonder? For another $2400 they said they would fix these problems and others that suddenly came up. I said take it down and I got out of Gemba Automotive. I would have given them Zero stars but it wasn't an option. Stay away from Gemba Automotive at 13315 W. Bell Road at all costs. $2960 and I still have a squeak and a leak. They fixed nothing.

That wasn't my experience. I wasn't shown clear proof or given alternative options before being told I needed one of the most expensive repairs possible. After a routine oil change, I was also suddenly told I now need an oil pressure switch, which raises additional concerns - are they manufacturing problems to drive ticket value? I've since heard similar experiences from others being told they need full transmissions as well, which makes this feel less like a case-by-case diagnosis. I recommend getting a second opinion before committing to major repairs here.

I finally found a auto repair company that does business the way it should be done!…read moreHonest, fast, polite! They will now be our household's new place for auto repair and upkeep. Our Nissan rogue flashed a warning that there was no oil in the car and to pull over immediately. Which we did. We were confused because there didn't seem to be any oil leaks, and the oil plug looked like it was still in place. (my husband neglected to tell me he stopped checking the fluid levels monthly.) As our previous auto mechanic closed his shop, we hadn't had a chance to find a new one. So we looked on yelp and noticed clutch auto was only a few miles away although they seemed fairly new. They had only a couple reviews, but they were positive. So I decided to give them a try and called them and made an appointment for the same day and had the car towed to them. They did a full inspection and did not see anything wrong with the oil other than it needed it. They suggested an oil change however their inspection showed that there was some work that needed to be done on the suspension I requested photos however they had already taken them, which really impressed me seconds later they sent me a full report, including photos showing what needed to be repaired and why. By the end of the day, all the work was done. And I picked it up the next morning. I'm really impressed that they did NOT try to say other work needed to be done, as most other places would. Instead they were honest and explain that they would consider the suspension was in the yellow zone needing to be done soon, but could be put off a little bit if necessary. The cost for a full synthetic oil change was much less than five minute oil, However, I asked if they had a senior citizen discount they did not however they did have a 10% off first time customer discount, which brought the full job (oil change/suspension work) significantly in price.
