The staff were kind, assistive, professional, funny, and accommodating. I had to let my lady know that I had a pleasant experience. Her booth neighbor said, 'Her name is Mimi". Which later I find out, was Adrienne (? Spl). They were jokers; and their jokes were light hearted. The staff answered my questions welcomingly and succinctly. I appreciate that I wasn't belittled nor treated condescendingly. My past DMV experience included staff who were on power trips and untouchable demeanor. One staff in Wayne even questioned my presence as a mother of a minor. There was an instance that a lady yelled out, "No pictures". Everyone around me looked puzzled. I looked at who yelled and looked at me. She yelled again, "No pictures." I had to reply back that it wasn't me. "Well someone was taking pictures." I have no reason to take pictures. I was busy dreading the 2hr drive back home. But I would still give Salem DMV 5 Stars!!! I will have no hesitation to come back here if needed.

If you're only getting your picture for a drivers license (that you have renewed on-line), KOP is…read morepretty efficient. Once you get inside the building (the line often snakes outside into the parking area) ask the guard that is just inside the entrance door if there is a separate line for "pictures only" and they may let you bypass the line. You'll need a camera card (mailed to you after you renew your license) to get a number. With the number, you can proceed directly to the "A" station to get your picture taken. If you need other services or didn't renew on-line, the wait can be 2-4 hours. (KOP DMV, if you are reading this, it would be really helpful if you set up a separate 'pictures only' line right at the main entrance.)

If you need a Real ID, this is the place to do it. Expect to be there at least 2.5 hours. If the…read moreline is into the parking lot, expect to be there 4 hours. Either way, bring a drink and snack along with all your paperwork. They have dozens of windows staffed to get customers through. The staff were pretty nice. The customers were mostly nice too. At a DMV, we're in the same boat and might as well make the most of it. Side note: The women's restroom was very clean.
