Greedy Shyster and Huckster. MV Trading is more concerned about raking in the money and less about customer service or repeat business. We frequent the Irving Street corridor in our daily shopping mainly stopping at the vegetable market on 22nd/Irving. We've been in MV Trading in the past and made a few minor purchases. The place is jammed packed and at times it is hard to walk through. It is definitely a fire hazard. The clerk is generally an Asian male who gives people the evil eye as we enter the store. They sell mostly products made in China and some Japanese products. We avoid the abundance of Chinese made bowls as they are purported to contain lead that can leach out into your food. We picked our 4 Japanese made soup bowls and headed to the counter. The woman at the register wrapped each bowl and took our money. When we went home and unwrapped the paper, one of the bowls had a chip near the rim. The next day we took the bowl back and encountered the Asian male clerk. He started to lambast us and said we should have checked the bowl before we bought it. When we told him that his female clerk should also have noticed when she wrapped the bowls, he ignored us. He refused to refund our money or even give an exchange. We do not plan on shopping here again and recommend that our friends and family do the same. read more

I used to live around the corner on 24th and now that I live in east bay, I still come here to buy cheap kitchen supplies... as long as I'm already planning a trip to sf. They have a ton of stuff crammed in a tiny store and the equipment is super cheap. I bought everything I needed for school for $60. The staff is very helpful, too. I will say that some of the tools fall apart pretty quickly (anything with wood.. pastry brush, wooden spoons, etc), but it's so inexpensive, it's worth a shot. Additionally, most of the store is devoted to table settings (bowls and plates) so if you're looking for specialty baking/pastry equipment, this is not the place for you. read more

Never buy anything here, they are very dishonest, discourteous, and sell defective merchandise. We bought a $30 pot here that cracked when we used it the FIRST TIME. When we brought it back and explained what happened, the owner told us "we are not responsible because you already used it." I'm not joking. When we tried to reason with him, he was condescending and rude. At one point he actually told us to buy another pot from him so that he could "teach us how to use it." Ridiculous, as if we hadn't cooked with clay pots hundreds of times before. No matter, we went to the hardware store on the corner just down the block. They sold us a fine pot and told us to return it if we have any problems. I have no doubt this place will go out of business eventually if it keeps treating its customers this way. I love this store!!!!! They have the most AMAZING deals on kitchen supplies that I've ever seen!! Williams Sonoma and Sur la Table be damned. If I need a cast iron grill pan, copper spider, serving dishes or any other useful kitchen tool this is the first place I go. Seriously, they have the same dishes here that they do as Sur la Table but at half the price. Please note that most dishes have an Asian theme, so if you're looking for something that will fit in with you're Pottery Barn home you may be out of luck. I'd love to give this place 5 stars but they don't have any higher end products (quality knives, electronic products like toasters, etc.). This is the place for basic kitchen supplies and inexpensive (but nice) plates, cups, etc. If you're on a budget and are stocking up a kitchen hit this place up! They have what you need. read more

This place is great. Unlike the other Chinese 5 & Dimes on Irving St, this one is primarily kitchen and dining. They have a great selection of plates, bowls, cups, tea pots, cooking pans and kinds of crap. All at very low prices. read more

DO NOT SHOP at MV Trading! Owner does not back up his merchandise, is rude and deceptive. I purchased a french press and a few hours later I found what might be a crack and asked to return/exchange for another one. Owner said NO...said "You should have checked it first". (I did take it out to do a quick check defect was hidden) So, HE BLAMES ME! , instead of standing behind his merchandise and supporting his customer. The press was obviously not used. BEWARE-He does not state clearly that he does NOT except returns even if damaged. I am a long time Irving street shopper; any other business on the strip would have graciously exchanged their merchandise. DO NOT SHOP at MV Trading. read more

I agree with Jerry. The owner needs to be more honest to the customer. I purchased an item and asked if I could return it and get a refund. I was told I could as long as it was not used. When I brought the item back for a refund, I was told no refund...only store credit. read more
