Pretty good school but there's some fights. The majority of teachers are very patient and give opportunity to willing students.

From day one, they created a warm and welcoming environment that helped our child feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. We've seen so much growth -- not just academically, but also socially and emotionally. Miss Preeti and Miss Prerana always communicate thoughtfully with parents and clearly put so much effort into every activity and lesson. It's obvious how much they genuinely care about each child. Thank you both for all the love, encouragement, and positivity you bring every day. Any family would be lucky to have teachers like you!

Before finding Challenger, we went through a bit of trial and error, including 8 months at Bright Horizon and 2 other daycares that we left for various reasons. Looking back, we are just so glad we put in the effort to potty-train our son early so he could enroll here. Without a doubt, the school has been the most positive and impactful experience we have had to date. Our son joined Challenger at 2 years and 10 months old in August 2025, and he has truly benefited from the program in every way possible. He is a very typical boy: curious, energetic, sometimes focused, and most of the time not very focused at all... However, his teachers, Ms. Shivani and Ms. Sonali, consistently meet him where he is each day. They have even provided extra review sessions before and after class to help him along--something we did not discover until recently, which truly reflects their genuine dedication. Through their incredible care, our son successfully transitioned from those early, chaotic days to now confidently following directions, counting past 50, reading simple sentences, and even tackling basic math and more. But beyond these academic achievements, their guidance has supercharged his emotional maturity as well, completely changing our perspective on what 3 year olds are capable of achieving in the right environment. As parents, being able to witness this growth firsthand during the quarterly mini-concerts has been an incredibly memorable experience--it is truly jaw-dropping to see how much these tiny humans can actually do. Thanks to this structured environment, our son has also become significantly more confident, which has beautifully translated into his mood and behavior at home. He has made incredible strides in managing his emotions and self-regulating. In fact, our home routine has completely transformed; daily struggles around mealtimes, sitting still, and nap schedules have become seamless. Because he now thrives on a consistent schedule, his days are balanced with on-time meals and naps, giving him fewer reasons to be fussy. Which brings us to the elephant in the room that many parents ask us about: the rigorous academic schedule and the perception that the teachers are "too strict" for young children. From our experience, our son is neither stressed nor afraid of school. He genuinely loves going every day because he knows he is supported and cared for. While the program is clearly accelerated, we have watched his confidence, independence, and social skills skyrocket alongside his academics. It turns out that learning more did not weigh him down or "stress him" out... it actually gave him the drive and the tools to feel included and engaged with his friends, and even more connected with us at home. So while the school might appear strict at first glance, in reality, this has been the most caring, observant, and development-focused environment we have ever experienced. The maturity, confidence, and growth we see in our son every single day truly speak for themselves. A sincere thank you to Ms. Shivani and Ms. Sonali for your enduring patience and love; we feel so fortunate that you were both William's first teachers at Challenger. We also want to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Anna and Ms. Tina for their steady leadership and support behind the scenes. Finally, thank you to the office team for always being so prompt, communicative, and helpful, which truly makes life less stressful for working parents. Last but not least a special shout-out to the morning drop off parents and staff that manage the drop-offs with the efficiency of an F1 pit crew. It truly feels like a village working together every morning. Hope you made it to the end of this review, and really hope some of our experience motivates you enough to start potty training your toddler if you haven't already and send them to Challenger preschool!

And today was another fulfilling day for volunteers - Orchard giving back to the community for the annual Winter Food Drive! It was great to see former and current parents working together towards making a difference. It was also great to see former teachers of my son. I brought my son with me as I'd like him to experience how giving back to the community works. He was actually glad that he went as he was able to catch up with his former teachers. I've started participating for Orchard's giving back to the community outreach program back in August of this year, and I must say I have been looking forward to it every month. The program is headed by Ms. Meuy Saeteurn-Hansen, who is also a former teacher of my son. She runs this program so well that other volunteers from other distribution location have commented on how organized this program is! So, if you're a former or current parent or just anyone who is looking to have an incredibly fulfilling, joyful, and purposeful day, please join us!

A lot of them are kind and always nice to talk to despite the decades long age gap between student and teacher. There are a lot of resources such as a wellness center to support students. One of the biggest problems about this school is the terrible management over the bathrooms. There are several bathrooms across school, and many of them will be closed throughout the day. Newer and nicer bathrooms such as the ones in the new art building and science buildings are always closed. The bathrooms that most people use in the hallways also were closed on and off. There are also locations such as the portables and track where there is no bathroom close by (or the nearest is closed). There is also a 10 minute bathroom policy where you can't go to the bathroom for the first and last 10 minutes of class. For me, as someone who drank a lot of water as a cross country runner, this was hell on Earth. There were MANY times where I would go to class, wait 10 minutes for the 10 minute rule to pass to be able to request to go to the restroom, have to take a long walk (~3 minute walk) to a bathroom, find out that it was closed, walk to the other hallway (approx 70m away) to see if their bathroom is open and find that it is closed, and then be forced to give up or try to find staff to open the bathroom or go on ANOTHER long walk to the office to go to the staff bathroom where I'm not supposed to go to because that's the only bathroom that was open. The lack of bathrooms being open and 10 minute rule also leads to LONG lines for the bathroom during breaks and lunches, which is only exasperated by some of the stalls being taken by girls who smoke in there. Not to mention the bathrooms that were allowed to be open were DISGUSTING. The soap was almost always out, there was ALWAYS a sink (out of the two sinks in the bathroom) broken, and cockroaches everywhere. Reminder that there are 8+ bathrooms, but only 2 were ever really open. Just stupid and silly. Just because there are a few bad apples who use the bathroom to skip class doesn't mean that the rest of the school population should suffer. It doesn't just end there though. It took months of student advocating for there to be a porta potty installed at the track. Hundreds of students use the school's outdoor sports facilities throughout the year (track, xc, softball, baseball, tennis, badminton, soccer, etc) and there was no bathroom near there for a long time. Oftentimes after school, the closest bathrooms (the locker rooms which are still ~.25 mile away from the track) were closed. While the porta potties were eventually implemented, they were CHAINED shut and padlocked. The school has a great student life and I made a lot of memories and lifetime friends here, but the bathroom situation was so horrible it gives this school -2 stars.

We notified the office about the incident and there was nothing they could really do but advised us to buy again on whatever leftover yearbooks that they had which were only 10 copies. My child properly lined up to buy a copy when a group of 8th graders came and cut off all the students who waited patiently. One girl even ended up buying 5. They should've limit 1 copy per student. And whoever teacher was in charge at that yearbook sale should've kept an eye on the line. Such a disorganization and disappointment! Also, this school have kids bullying and intimidating other kids. Parents please choose caution when picking this school for your child/children. I almost wanted to believe that the students of this school improved till this incident happened to us.

The principal and staff changed the story and stated my daughter got the bruising from the monkey bars which she doesn't play that and also stated that one of my daughters friends pushed her and made the bruises, and when the cops asked for the videos from the school cameras they stated the cameras didn't capture the location of where the incident happened. The case was dropped!

One of my complaints about the Piedmont school district is how much focus is put on the math &…read morescience subjects, and anything outside of that seems to be put on the back burner. So then the students who are more geared towards the "humanities" subjects end up feeling inadequate when comparing themselves to their peers who are more gifted in the STEM subjects. So if I could give any advice to perspective parents it would be... "JUST BECAUSE A SCHOOL IS CONSIDERED 'GOOD,' DOESN'T MEAN IT'S 'GOOD' FOR YOUR PARTICULAR CHILD." You know your child. Do they excel at reading and writing, but despise math and science? Well I can guess that they probably won't magically change their stance on that now. So parents, please listen to your child if they're the kind of kid who favors the humanities subjects, before forcing them into an environment that will only stifle what little confidence they might have in the STEM fields.
