My daught has attended Robert Sanders for the past 3 years and she loves it. We considered putting her in private school but when we took a tour of RS my husband and I fell in love with the school, teachers and most of all the principle. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does. She has hired the best teachers and it shows. My daughter is doing amazing at this school I know we made the right choice by putting her at Robert Sanders. Even through this pandemic they have been on top of things from the very start. I've lived in this area for many years and two of my children attended Robert Sanders elementary school and I taught here as well. It was back in the day when there were a lot of people who like to do negative things. But my kids are always safe here... Mr. Totter was the principal back then... He was so funny! He always make the kids laugh and he was very very conversational. He knew every child by their first name and he worked hard to create the best educational environment for each individual child. Teachers at the school have always been awesome! They care about their children that they teach and they care about the families too. They still have baseball games through east side Little League at the school. It's a good place to walk your dog as well. If you're lucky enough to have your child go here... My little sister and little brother went to RS, I originally wanted my daughter at my old elementary school, but Robert sanders has some of the best test scores, teachers, principal and school spirit around! The principal Ms. Howard is so awesome! She knows each student by name, she makes going to school everyday fun! She's young and has a fresh perspective on things! As the 2017-2018 school year comes to its sunset, I wanted to take the time to thank the school for the wonderful environment that has been a home away from home for my children. This school is an absolute gem in the Eastside community. Our kids both are part of the Cougar Family and are proud to say so. From the minute one walks onto the campus, one is greeted with warm smiles, beautiful murals, and a friendly staff. But the true treasure is in the magic that happens in the classroom- kids are engaged, happy in their environment, and eager to learn and participate. The teachers really do quite an amazing job navigating Common Core while providing a fun, hands-on, creative place for their students to learn and grow into themselves. The principal is also a top-notch professional who maintains a good balance between Relationships, Relevance , and Rigor on campus, in the classrooms, and the surrounding community. She has welcomed partnerships with the SF 49ers, San Jose State University and Silicon Valley Tech companies who mentor, run physical fitness camps, beautify the school, and inspire the kids! Roberts Sanders emphasizes Peace-Building and the kids really seem to not only understand, but embrace and apply the tenets it teaches. Simply put: It is a safe, welcoming, and engaging family at Robert Sanders. As an educator myself, these are the reasons we pulled our children out of private schools and put them here. This is an absolutely wonderful school. I had the honor to come in and volunteer. The teachers at RS are hard working and literally go above and beyond to make sure that their students' needs are met and that they are happily learning. The students and their families are always treated like family by all the staff members. I'm not sure how this school could get a bad review. I loved and enjoyed my experience there. My team has worked with the principal, faculty, and parents of Robert Sanders since the 2015 school year to encourage students and parents to walk or bike to school more. The teachers and principal have been extremely helpful and fun to work with. They have demonstrated a commitment to the well-being and success of every student. This school and its teachers/parents are the most involved and caring group. Their guiding light, Julie Howard is the principal. We are lucky to have great people like her to set the bar so high for others to follow. Miss Howard is fair, loving and smart as a tack. This school is the worst school to send your child to, in this area. Don't waste your time with this unorganized school. From my experience at this school, I regret my child setting foot in this school. All my daughter encountered on these grounds was ignorant teachers and two faces. The staff here portray kindness in front of the parent, but when no parent is around; a majority of the staff take advantage of their authority. There is a lot discreet behavior with the teachers and principal. I went to the principal with bully concerns only to be brushed off as though my child was irrelevant. Discrimination towards my child due to the principals feelings towards me, which is disgusting. The principal allows a lot of immoral, behavior, from her teachers. Mrs. Cowards favors her teachers, when her teacher ridiculed, humiliated my daughter Mrs. Cowards did nothing. She told me what she thought I needed to hear, reassuring lies good actress. Karma will come back to her, her lack of care and what happened to my daughter is on her hands; God knows what she did. Mrs. Cowards thinks with her college behind her that, that makes her good at being a principal..smh. She wasted years in college, she didn't learn the most crucial part; interacting with children and problem solving. All she told me, was let my 6 year old be independent while she was getting bullied!! That was her answer, independence is important but not more than it is to step in and interfere when it comes to bullying. That's a serious matter that is not to be taken lightly but she again she favors, picks who she'll help. So pitiful and disgusting. I regret having my child at this school. If you want a school that has patience, compassion, plus the right teachers that comprehend, all children learn differently and that have different tactics prepared & lastly open to a child's/parents point of view, then this is definitely not that school that holds those qualities. Don't waste your time look else where. I want a principal that represents what she/he preaches. Not just false advertising what she/he wants the parents to believe what is going on at the school. Don't waste your time trying with this school. You won't get treated fairly. You will get discriminated against, for no reason, and there is no justice for your child. They want your child to learn remorse and how to apologize when at fault but won't stand by that rule when it comes to their teachers/staff. A Teacher can be a bully at this school, just as much as another student. When a teacher does something wrong, they will back up their teacher all the way ( conflict of interest, of course smh). Just a tap on the hand and probably get rewarded to go out to eat instead. One teacher in particular, Ms. Crankmos is a very conniving, incompetent person in the wrong profession. She bullied my daughter and I want every one who reads this to know what she is capable of. The 2nd week of school, at lunch time I came to check on my daughter and was fortunate enough to catch it with my own eyes. I'm approaching the cafeteria and see Ms. Crankmos putting my daughter into a corner, scolding and humiliating my daughter with all the kids looking at my daughter, not even a foot away. Instead of calmly taking her to the side to explain what was done wrong on her behalf, so it would be discreet she decides to take advantage of her authority and embarrass my child making her cry because all the kids were watching and some smirking about it. Ms Crankmos turned around half ways into scolding her because she seen my daughter looking at someone, which was me approaching them. She then tells me with a different voice from how she spoke to my child, that she was upset over my daughter raising her tone because of a language barrier. This cranky older lady working in the cafeteria decided to nitpick at my daughter, (that was new to this school and needed patience & compassion) this lady only speaks Spanish & could not comprehend what my daughter was saying therefore start yelling at my daughter. My 6 year old daughter figured ok maybe she can't hear me and start to raise her voice back because this lady was repeating the same question over and over to my daughter. My daughter got scared, panicked, thought maybe she needs to be louder to be heard since it seemed the cranky lady had a hearing problem. Come on continuously repeating is a form of intimidation to a child if she had already given a answer in the best way she could. And for this punk that wont stop repeating herself. (Keep in mind my daughter had no idea that this lady struggled with her English because she had just started school end of November, and it was barely her 2nd week in December) she's not going to know these people and what their personality or language is like. I think I would've reacted the same way if someone kept repeating themselves and refuse to hear me therefore only thing thought of by a child is maybe to speak louder to be heard. A dumb misunderstanding that they could've fixed; instead of it getting to the point where this BULLY teacher humiliates my daughter in front of other kids. There are two different types of teachers, true genuinely honest ones, that act the same way in front of you as they would when you leave & then there's ones that act a different way with your child when you walk away, when they have the child alone in the classroom; that would be her. The only positive light of hope that kept us at this school is her sweet 2nd grade teacher, she has made a huge turn around for my daughter and I'm thankful for her but sadly she is not going to be a third grade teacher so... read more

My Child has attended Robert Sanders for 2 years, TK & Kinder. Throughout my sons time at the school, the staff has been supportive and even gone the extra mile to help my child and I as a single parent. The principal Ms. Howard along with my son's teacher Ms Locklin have been able to identify areas of strengths & concern with son while being helpful with not only supporting my sons success but on real solutions to help him be an improving student. My son, a very active child gets support from various school staff members. The lunch lady Ms Simmons not only helps my son focus through morning dance she makes sure that he participates in school activity to showcase what lessons she has taught him. Principal Ms. Howard, Teachers Ms. Locklin, Ms. Threadgrill & the MPAS after school team work very hard in working with students, they also pay great attention to students who have additional needs. Over these two years the communication between my son's teachers, yard duty, principal, lunch lady, and after-school MPAS program has been great a catalyst in conjunction with my sons success. When it comes to learning, & discipline my son has had his challenges however the staff has been more than helpful in working with my son in guiding, correcting, redirecting to sustain his success. My son has received an award most improved student, perfect attendance twice, & he fits nicely into the fabric of Robert Sanders School.
