MOE has always responded quickly, professionally, and positively. My agent had nothing but excuses when I would ask why my rates kept going up. I have a perfect driving record and my home is beautiful and well taken care of yet they kept increasing rates on both home owners and auto insurance. I finally came to the conclusion that they wanted me to come to. That is they didn't want my business anymore. My agent finally admitted that they were increasing my home insurance because it was getting older and at higher risk of failures. Needless to say I FIRED Mutual of Enumclaw and went with another company that gave me great rates on both Auto/Home. Don't think for a minute that being loyal to these crooks will keep you in their good graces. They don't care about you in any capacity beyond you being their cash cow. (The first one in over 30 years.) I received a letter today that they are canceling my insurance. I haven't even gotten the estimate for the car to be repaired yet! This company is a joke. So you're there to collect our premium pmts but when we actually need it you cancel us? I find that highly unethical. I had no idea so many other people have been receiving the same crappy service. I had added appliance insurance to my regular insurance and in fall of 2024 I had to have my furnace replaced. Auto insurance jumped from 2100 to 3100 for 2 cars (2014/2017). Mileages are under 6K per car. Their rates are even expensive than my friends with 2022 and 2023 cars. 47% increase. House insurance also jumped from 4400 to 5800. 30% increase. My agent did apple to apple quote with Safeco, and we saved 3400 easily. We understand inflation will affect, but the increase should be reasonable. At least check market prices from other competitors. 3400 difference is totally insane. read more

After 25+ years of Home, Auto, Motorcycle and Umbrella coverage, I had enough. I decided to shop around for identical coverage and settled on Liberty Mutual. They wrote identical coverage for home and auto for, get this, $6K per year less than I was paying the rip-off agents, M of E. The last straw was when M of E raised my auto coverage by $125.00 per month. When I confronted them as to why, they basically said because we can. I was appalled at their gross premium over charges and their total lack of concern about losing a 25+ year client. Buyer beware. Wow....amazing Insurance scam company ,our house burnt down. We had Long Realty in Tucson Az help us sell the property and find us new home. We decided to go with Enumclaw for new homeowner insurance and bungle with the car we had to buy. A month later we added a car with a 76.00 increase. That was secure, then they tripled Our premium without notice before second premium was due. I said no thanks and moved to Liberty Mutual, they gave us the rates we originally got from this outfit. Kept the homeowners insurance with enumclaw. Now, they are demanding with collection agency for the cancelled premium. Long Realty has some kind of in with this company to sell insurance. After shopping around for a couple days, we found another insurance carrier that had equivalent coverage for close to half the price, and a 4.8 star Google rating. Mutual of Enumclaw is sometimes difficult to get a hold of and have been not the easiest to deal with for a claim. The kicker is that they raised my rates and have refused to renew with me for a claim I made after an ice storm. I slide on the ice this last winter. Most of the roads were clear and safe, but I encountered on that was still slick, and I had to get my car repaired. The repairs were a few thousand and I had avoided hitting several other vehicles by steering into a telephone pole saving the insurance company a bunch of money. They raised my rates by 50% and then less than 2 months before renewal this year, they sent the letter saying my home insurance is not being renewed because my auto insurance will not be renewed. I have to shop for new home and auto insurance because of an ice storm. read more

So unfortunately things did not turn out well. I had high hopes but dealing with the claims adjuster was a nightmare. I went through several different claims adjusters, each one suddenly disappearing and not replying to multiple attempts to contact. Being strung along for months before being able to get work done. Ridiculous offers that were a fraction of the estimates. Multiple contractors told me they had never seen offer solo and that I needed to go to the insurance commissioner and file a complaint. Throughout the process I was gracious and understanding and patient. I wrote a letter to the headquarters and said while I know the claim was large, it was due to extreme weather events and I would love the opportunity to continue to pay into the fund, but instead I got a letter that I was being dropped for the first claim I've ever had in my 18 years of being a home owner. The customer has no value for them. They have a trick to charge you more. They renewed their contract and I didn't receive any letter from them before change the contract (I got a letter after 13 days) then they didn't charge me for the first month. It means I didn't know the new price (if I had known, I could have canceled the contract immediately), then they charged me in April for March. I talked to them and the customer service answered me in loud, she didn't speak nice. They are not FAIR to their customers. I have been an insurance for agent for 24 years and this company has been stellar to work with. I competed against them for 10 years and struggled to do a better job! When I made an agency change 14 years ago and gained access to them I was able to help people obtain coverage from a great regional carrier and have watched them facilitate excellent claims service. It's as if they search for ways to pay claims, not deny them, which some do in my experience. The only real method to check on company complaints that are not emotionally charged is to cut and paste this link: http://dfr.oregon.gov/community/Pages/complaint-data.aspx. It is a record of complaints submitted to the State of Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services and to statistical data as to whether the complaints were deemed (after detailed investigation) to be substantiated or unsubstantiated. There is a lot to learn! The complaints that I happen to see on Yelp that are negative here could more appropriately be directed to the agencies that should be submitting correct information to Mutual of Enumclaw and advocating when their clients are not treated fairly. Well, imagine that from your insurance company after years and years of clean driving and paying in time. Only to be told you weren't a profitable enough client for them. I know what you're thinking: Accidents? None. Tickets? Nope. Leans/bankruptcies? Nada. Three vehicles, suburbs, Im 48 clean record for more than 25 years. Wife, 42, clean record for more than 20 years. As it turns out, we had put in claims on three rock-chipped windshields total on our three cars in our six years. Oh, and twice we needed vehicle assistance/towing within that time. So two tows, three rock chips on three policies over six years. That's what didn't it. They told us they were canceling us in a letter. I was so incredulous I kept calling until I spoke with the lead underwriter. He told me that our account simply wasn't "profitable enough". So no matter what this company tells you, remember that it all boils down to larger than industry norm profit margins. UPDATE TO RESPONSE BELOW: Thanks for your quick response Jason. The underwriter I spoke with told me the company was going through a trend and the account purges were based on algorithms. That doesn't seem either "thoughtful" or "customized" to me. After 26 years with the Mutual of Enumclaw, they are cancelling our homeowners policy due to 2 claims in 3 years. One claim was for $2,800 for a RV cover that collapsed in the snow and the other was for $275 for a portable car cover that collapsed in the wind. We had 3 homes insured with them along with 3 autos and have literally paid them 10's of thousands of dollars over 26 years. So much for customer loyalty. When searching for a replacement company, we discovered that they did not even have our primary residence covered properly and were charging us for liability on a snowmobile, which we have never owned. We had snow damage one of our rooms in Scottsdale, AZ. a few months ago when we had a freak snowstorm. One of our bedrooms had drywall, insulation, and other debris compromise our ceiling. Our claims ajuster was amazing, the crew cleaned up and started drying the damaged area within a week the entire room and roof was repaired beyond our satisfaction. DO NOT INSURE YOUR CAR WITH THEM! This year my car was totaled (not my fault) and fortunately we had gap insurance to cover the depreciated value. The gap insurance company would not payout a portion of the value that was owed to us because Enumclaw could not prove that we had insurance on our car EVEN THOUGH THEY VERIFIED WE HAD NEVER MISSED A MONTHLY PAYMENT. Due to their clerical error and their unwillingness to make this right, we now owe $3k. I ended up dealing with this insurance company in May when my car was rear ended by one of their insured drivers. From what I experienced they are very slow to get back to people, if they even do at all. I remember calling them multiple times after the given time frame of when they said they'd get back to me. Even if you've given them all required information. I.E. their insured's policy number, name, car make/model, time/date of incident, etc. I can understand that I'm not one of their insured drivers & that they need to get the other party's account of what happened etc, but their customer service was very bad. To be honest, it was unacceptable as well. When they did approve of the body shop to repair my rear fender on my car, they weren't even courteous enough to let me know. I had to find out through the body shop that everything could proceed. I hope I never have to deal with them again. read more
