My boyfriend and I took in our cattle dog, Ollie, as a stray almost 4 months ago. Quick background: Ollie was found tied to a fire hydrant outside my work. Ollie is the sweetest boy, however is very reactive to other dogs and is a bundle of energy that presents as endless jumping and nipping. We have a senior Saint Bernard at home in which Ollie has been too rough/aggressive with her, even when our Saint Bernard makes it known that she doesn't want to be bothered. We tried water sprays at home and other attempts at training to no avail. We began to feel helpless as our biggest concern was his relationship with our Saint Bernard, as it got to the point where we felt we had to consider rehoming him. During our session with Brad, we immediately saw results which had us dumbfounded. Like other reviews have mentioned, his technique is not "mean," but is a firm mindset that Ollie requires. All the while, Brad emphasizes when to correct your dog and when to praise him, while stressing the fact that these techniques are not made to scare your dog, but rather establish a leader mentality while simultaneously letting the dog know that you provide love and safety. Of course, like any training, one can only be successful when carrying over these learned techniques at home, but Brad left us feeling confident and ready to continue the work. Even when we got home today, we already had seen a shift from Ollie. As for Brad himself - he is very approachable and really looks to understand both the dog and all the circumstances that come with them. You could really get a sense of how personal he is. When I pressed for more details, I was rudely reminded that there are signs "all over the wall" and that reservations are required in advance. When I asked how far in advance, I had to pull that information out of her as well--she finally stated that typically, it's a day in advance. The entire conversation was frustrating and unhelpful. Good customer service means providing clear information to ensure customers understand policies, not being dismissive, vague, and expecting them to read signage instead of offering proper guidance.

We were at a loss after already completing basic training with our pup, as he was…read morestill struggling with negative behaviors we needed to correct, including nipping, guarding, fear, biting at the vet, and anxiety with strangers. We brought our 2-year-old rescue chihuahua mix, Harry, to Sal in hopes that he could help us address these more significant trauma-related issues. Harry was a tough nut to crack, but after the one-week board and train, we were blown away by the positive changes we saw. Sal and his team made incredible breakthroughs with Harry. He was able to be held and touched by the trainers, stopped guarding, and became noticeably calmer and happier overall. The post-board and train "tune-ups" were also extremely effective, allowing us to troubleshoot concerns during our 1:1 follow-up sessions with Sal. Harry has continued to return to Sal for day boarding, touch-ups, and additional socialization with other dogs, which he loves. He is always excited to see Sal and the training staff, which tells us the experience was truly positive for him. Now that we've completed the initial training and several boarding sessions, Harry is doing great. We can have people enter our home, he can go to the vet, get his teeth cleaned with no anesthesia, and receive care without needing to be muzzled or heavily medicated, and he is much more compliant overall. A bonus is that we can now confidently leave Harry for a day or vacation boarding, knowing he is in the best care and continuing his training while we're away. We can't recommend Sal and his team enough for their incredible work, professionalism, and responsiveness with Harry.

Russer is also very obsessed with his 'uncle Sal.' Whenever we need to go away for the weekend, we drop off Russer to stay with Sal which is a relief to know he's getting a training refresh and is staying with someone we fully trust. Dave helped us with methods on how to help handle Knox's excitement when new people come into the house and to keep him calm when he sees dogs on walks and some things in-between, providing step-by-step instructions for ways we can work with him to get him to those calm places. We really liked his approach and the kindness he showed our dogs. So many places we looked at used electric collars and it was not something we wanted to do, so we were really happy when we found Dave!

We trusted Hudson Training Facility with our dog, Blaze, and unfortunately our experience ended in a way no pet owner should have to go through. Before dropping Blaze off for a two-week board and train, I had met with Noel and specifically informed him that Blaze had previously broken his front leg. He had fully recovered and been cleared by the vet, but I wanted them to be aware of his history. He informed me he would keep an eye on him and make sure he did not do any strenuous training with him. During the first week, I received videos and updates showing his progress. Then I received a call from Noel telling me there had been an incident and that Blaze was not putting weight on his leg. When I arrived, I was told that Blaze had fallen off the grooming table while Noel had reached down to grab something from the floor. The whole story just sounded fishy to be honest. The fall resulted in Blaze breaking his leg in two places. Joseph (owner) sent me to the vet that they deal with and their doctor told me the break was too severe for his expertise and that Blaze needed a specialist. The vet I went to later explained that the severity of the injury was consistent with the height of the fall. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled afterward. The owner initially downplayed the injury and said it was probably just a sprain and had the nerve to remind me about the liability waiver that I signed that waives ordinary negligence before we even knew the full extent of the injury. He even mentioned not going through insurance. What the contract does not waive is gross negligence, which is exactly what occured. Joseph ended up going through his insurance but I ultimately had to pay nearly $12,000 upfront for Blaze's surgery and treatment. I could not receive the settlement until Blaze was fully cleared which lasted months. That financial burden was incredibly stressful and could have been devastating for many families. I also requested an injury report and a written statement explaining exactly what happened, but I never received either. To this day, I still do not know exactly what happened. To top it off, when I picked Blaze up, he was dirty, his paws were dry, his nose was chapped, and he looked poorly cared for compared to when I dropped him off. Accidents can happen, but this felt preventable, especially if you are a professional training facility. The lack of accountability, communication, and documentation, is why I cannot recommend Hudson Canine Kennels to other pet owners.

The location was completely closed. I finally called the office myself, and Sean told me the trainer would be there in 5 minutes. There was no apology for the delay, even though they were clearly aware the trainer was running late. After waiting even longer, Ryan, the trainer, finally called and said he would arrive in another 15 minutes. At that point, he would have been over 30 minutes late for our appointment. Being late occasionally happens, but the lack of communication and professionalism was frustrating. A simple phone call ahead of time and a sincere apology would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this was not a great first impression, and it made us question the level of service we could expect moving forward.

I was ready to move out with Charlie from the house we had just bought with my mother-in-law because his barking was driving her crazy. Johnnie was patient, knowledgeable, and explained everything in a way that was easy for us to understand and practice at home. The results were noticeable right away. Charlie learned to stop excessive barking, respond consistently to the "leave it" command, and the "place" command has been a game changer for helping him stay calm and settled when guests come over or when things get busy around the house especially at the door and in front of the house. Charlie is also now comfortable riding in a car with us going places, when before he was a shaky mess. Johnny also supported us through Charlie's picky eating.
