After 7 weeks of puppy kindergarten, my Captain can sit patiently while I spelled his name with his treats... This time!

Karma Dog Training is great for my Captain (Shih Tzu +Jack Russel Terrier). They don't require money up front so try out a class and see if you like it. I attended the puppy social classes and it's an hour, once a week for seven weeks. My pup can't get enough! It seems like Karma Dog rent a couple rooms in the Learning Light Foundation building which is a nonprofit community space for other holistic-learning experiences and classes. I was pretty confused coming into the building because there was so many doors leading somewhere else.. I guess I was expecting a Karma Dog establishment. The center also has a garden where my puppy can hang out and do his business when we are there early. Cassie and Olivia are currently the two trainers: well educated, confident, and super sweet! Every Sunday, they teach 1-2 lessons for the one hour with social breaks in between. This structure definitely gives the puppies time to get use to each other and play while teaching us, humans, to be able to handle our energetic to shy companions. Class subjects rotate through time so there's leniency to miss a class. They separate classes between dog's age and size. I really enjoy taking Captain to the classes for the dogs he gets to interact with and sharing helpful tips/stories of our pups.

Graduation day for Penny!! Thank you Cassie and Olivia.

This program is really helpful and the trainers know exactly what they are doing. They care about the puppies well being and are very patient. (So for those who have shy dogs, like mine was, this is the place for you!!) Words could not express how greatful I am to the two dog trainers Olivia and Cassie who helped my dog Penny get out of her shell. When she first started she was very, very shy and did not know how to play with other dogs. Most of the time she was alone while her classmates played together. Now after completing the course, she is more open and playful with other dogs. Mind you, she still is a little timid, but practice makes perfect. I would highly recommend coming here. 1. Your puppy will make friends 2. They take them even if they don't have all their shots 3. Well worth the money spent

We very nearly cancelled before our first class! As first time dog owners we had heard much about the perils facing puppies at a young age. Karma Dog counseled us on the benefits of early socialization and precautions they take to keep young pups safe, and made us comfortable that puppy school was the right choice. I am so glad they took the time to help us understand; we have the most sociable pup credit Karma dog training! The organizers and trainers (Cassie and Olivia) clearly take alot of care to protect young puppies and provide a safe area for them to interact; and that is much of what the training was for; socialization. A few training sessions thrown in each class were a really nice way to build a tool set for showing off a well trained pup! In my case I am afraid of dogs :) and the class allowed me to become better at judging the motivation of these other puppies, recognizing the boundaries of safe and healthy play and learning a few basic tools to regain calm with our puppy. Both Olivia and Cassandra have a very professionally warm way of communicating and with their help I was inspired with confidence! Their handling of the puppies class generates a very positive learning environment; and they provide resources to go at your own speed in training your puppy with handouts, videos and homework :) Whether the A student or the monstrously large puppy :) all are clearly welcomed on their own merits, and that creates a very non judgmental and safe environment for us all, puppies and owners alike. As a graduate of Puppy school we are excited to continue the work with obedience school...here we come!

I attended a free trial class at Karma Dog Training's Anaheim location and signed my puppy up immediately afterwards. I really like how the puppy kindergarten classes are set up in a way that allows for maximum socialization. They do 15 minutes off leash and 15 minutes on leash for an hour which means the puppies are off leash and playing for at least 30 minutes. This socialization component is what was most important for my puppy and it is hard to find dog training classes where you don't just sit there and get talked at. The training portion of this class involves a demonstration with one of the puppies (probably yours at least once) and then you practicing while the trainers go around and help your perfect your technique and get your puppy learning. Each class concludes with a short sitting break where you teach your puppy how to calm down and not to resource guard. There is no empty just being 'talked at' time in this class at all and I really appreciate that! The trainers at this location, Olivia and Cassie, are very knowledgeable, happy, and full of energy. Just throughout the one puppy kindergarten class I was in I watched them facilitate healthy interactions for puppies that started off hiding in the corner or growling at other puppies. My own puppy was a barker and by using the methods Olivia and Cassie taught me to train him, he is now able to play quietly with other dogs! They're willing to work with their clients and puppies and never ever use harsh methods. This class is all about building and strengthening the puppy-owner bond with lots of treats! I highly recommend Karma Dog Training's puppy kindergarten series and Olivia and Cassie who teach at the Anaheim location! We plan to attend future courses with Karma Dog Training and now that my puppy has received his third set of vaccinations we are hoping to attend at an outdoor location. The Anaheim location is indoors and perfect for puppies that aren't completely vaccinated because the room and all guest shoes are parvo-disinfected before the class starts.

Dexter and some friends from class, all sitting nicely :)

Before we had the pleasure of finding Dachs 2 Danes, we had an assortment of daycares that we tried that were okay. While they were not horrible, it still felt like something was lacking in each of the establishments. Finding D2D and staying a customer for the past 5 years (!) has frankly felt like a very short time with how easy and simple they have made our lives when it comes to placing our pup in trusting hands. Noted in a previous review, our pup is "special". Super-smart dog, but didn't have much socialization (or, possibly, happiness) in her past. D2D has helped provide a safe and controlled environment for her to socialize (or, at the very least, interact) with other pups and humans that aren't us. Pre-COVID, we were able to drop her off sometime after 7am and pick her up before 7pm on any day (I think if you dropped off your pup after 12pm, it was considered a half-day and was a lower rate). During COVID, they're now closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but you can drop off your pup during the weekdays; their website has more info. Also, during COVID, boarding is still available! While daycare has provided infinite value to us, boarding has been nothing short of a relief. I do worry about our pup when she's not at home (frankly, I'm just used to her being around me all the time), but it is incredibly reassuring to know that she's at D2D overnight whenever needed. We do schedule her boarding a few days in advance (if not a few weeks if we're going out-of-state), and we make sure to pack food, meds, dental bones, a blanket, a toy, and a list of items/directions for them (just as a backup, since they do write down a checklist for their own use when they receive her overnight bag). Just a note: if you want to try and board your pup doing holiday weeks (e.g., Thanksgiving and Christmas), make sure to try and reserve ahead of time, as they may get full. Prices have been reasonable for half-day, full-day, and boarding. They also have packages, where we've been consistently purchasing the 30-full-day packages in the past few years. It definitely is an upfront cost (around $650 for the 30-full-day package for one dog), but it's nice to not worry about paying on day of a daycare visit because we took care of it ahead of time. They also have a small discount if you have multiple dogs, I think? D2D also has some salon services! Hubby and I have completely taken advantage of their ability to cut dogs' nails, as I get a little bit of a visceral reaction in trying to cut our pup's nails (I had cut into the quick before, agh!!!). $10 for a nail clip? DONE. TAKE MY MONEY. The owner, Erin, is a wonderful human being who cares about her business, the pets she takes care of (whether cats, dogs, birds, farm animals, etc.), and her customers. She has always been straightforward and honest with us, and always works hard in her business. She does small things that is a big deal to us, such as Christmas postcards, doggie report cards, setting up boxes for donations to the animal shelters and rescues, and providing a quick recap on how our pup did our daycare. She is patient and calm with her hands full, but she makes things look easy at times. She is amazing. THANK YOU, ERIN, for all that you have done for us and our pup!
