Karma Dog Training is great for my Captain (Shih Tzu +Jack Russel Terrier). They don't require money up front so try out a class and see if you like it. I attended the puppy social classes and it's an hour, once a week for seven weeks. My pup can't get enough! It seems like Karma Dog rent a couple rooms in the Learning Light Foundation building which is a nonprofit community space for other holistic-learning experiences and classes. I was pretty confused coming into the building because there was so many doors leading somewhere else.. I guess I was expecting a Karma Dog establishment. The center also has a garden where my puppy can hang out and do his business when we are there early. Cassie and Olivia are currently the two trainers: well educated, confident, and super sweet! Every Sunday, they teach 1-2 lessons for the one hour with social breaks in between. This structure definitely gives the puppies time to get use to each other and play while teaching us, humans, to be able to handle our energetic to shy companions. Class subjects rotate through time so there's leniency to miss a class. They separate classes between dog's age and size. Karma Dog counseled us on the benefits of early socialization and precautions they take to keep young pups safe, and made us comfortable that puppy school was the right choice. I am so glad they took the time to help us understand; we have the most sociable pup credit Karma dog training! The organizers and trainers (Cassie and Olivia) clearly take alot of care to protect young puppies and provide a safe area for them to interact; and that is much of what the training was for; socialization. A few training sessions thrown in each class were a really nice way to build a tool set for showing off a well trained pup! In my case I am afraid of dogs :) and the class allowed me to become better at judging the motivation of these other puppies, recognizing the boundaries of safe and healthy play and learning a few basic tools to regain calm with our puppy. I got my puppy, Donuts, in late October 2016 when he was about three months old. I needed help training him and I read that puppies need to socialize with other puppies, so I decided to sign up for puppy kindergarten. I did some Yelp and Google searches before I found Karma Dog Training; based on their positive reviews and because they teach training using positive reinforcements, I contacted them via email to attend a free trial class. I got a very quick response and they were courteous; I was also informed that there was a "New Client Promotion" deal if you decide to sign up for the Puppy Kindergarten package (you also get a discount if your dog is a rescue). The free trial class is the first class of seven if you decide to sign up, and you can sign up at the end of class - I did! Classes are one hour long, once a week with a different lesson each week, and you will be able to keep attending class until you complete all seven lessons (loose leash walking, sit, down, stay are some of the lessons) - so if you miss one lesson, you can go when they have that lesson again. Classes are indoors and taught by two awesome and knowledgeable people, Cassie and Olivia. FYI, the first/free trial class you attend may not be the same as someone else's first/free trial class; the free trial class will consist of new students, who are also there for their free trial class, along with students who have already attended some of their seven classes. As for my first/free trial class, the lesson was loose leash walking part one and it was great, especially when you get to see puppies playing and learning! The class starts with 15 minutes of play time off leash then 15 minutes of training on leash and so forth until the hour is almost over; the class ends with calming the puppy down, a recap of the lesson, Q&A if there are questions, and info on what next week's lesson is. I learned that puppies have short attention spans, so training should be done in multiple short sessions and there should be play time after/between each training session - play helps them learn better. I have attended almost all the lessons so far and I highly recommend Karma Dog Training. It is fun and educational for both the puppies and humans. I love the balance of puppy play time and training my dog received at this class. Each class began with about ten minutes of play time to get the puppies accustomed to other dogs. Training was also done in intervals and separated by puppy play time. There are two sanitized rooms available to give each dog enough space to train. I felt like my dog learned a lot under Olivia. I didn't give karma dog 5 stars because im comparing it to how my family dog's behavior is currently after graduating Petco's dog training classes. Karma dog is cheaper, yet I feel our family dog learned more in the same amount of classes from Petco in comparison. Each dog is different maybe the pug chihuahua mix is more mellow in comparison to my chihuahua Yorkie terrier mix yet Petco training seemed more effective. I would still try Karma dog for my future fur babies because of their evidence based practices. Anaheim location is cool because they have a well taken care of garden in the back to let the dogs play before or after class. read more

I attended a free trial class at Karma Dog Training's Anaheim location and signed my puppy up immediately afterwards. I really like how the puppy kindergarten classes are set up in a way that allows for maximum socialization. They do 15 minutes off leash and 15 minutes on leash for an hour which means the puppies are off leash and playing for at least 30 minutes. This socialization component is what was most important for my puppy and it is hard to find dog training classes where you don't just sit there and get talked at. The training portion of this class involves a demonstration with one of the puppies (probably yours at least once) and then you practicing while the trainers go around and help your perfect your technique and get your puppy learning. Each class concludes with a short sitting break where you teach your puppy how to calm down and not to resource guard. There is no empty just being 'talked at' time in this class at all and I really appreciate that! The trainers at this location, Olivia and Cassie, are very knowledgeable, happy, and full of energy. Just throughout the one puppy kindergarten class I was in I watched them facilitate healthy interactions for puppies that started off hiding in the corner or growling at other puppies. My own puppy was a barker and by using the methods Olivia and Cassie taught me to train him, he is now able to play quietly with other dogs! They're willing to work with their clients and puppies and never ever use harsh methods. This class is all about building and strengthening the puppy-owner bond with lots of treats! I highly recommend Karma Dog Training's puppy kindergarten series and Olivia and Cassie who teach at the Anaheim location! We plan to attend future courses with Karma Dog Training and now that my puppy has received his third set of vaccinations we are hoping to attend at an outdoor location. I Cannot say enough good things about this program! I would give it ten stars if I could! My corgi puppy Dexter and I have been taking the 12:00 class on Sundays with Angela for a few months now. Everyone always comments on how well trained and socialized he is, and we could not have done it without Karma and Angela. When Simba and I first came through these doors of puppy kindergarten he did not have proper socialization skills and would get most other dogs angry. He also didn't know any simple commands and was a real pain to deal with in the house. When we adopted Kaia, our sweet and rambunctious Husky/German Shepard puppy, my husband and I looked to enroll her in an obedience course ASAP--especially since we have a sweet and rambunctious 1.5 year old toddler who is not as easily trained ;) After researching various training methods and philosophies, we enrolled Kaia in Karma Dog's "Puppy Kindergarten" course for a few reasons: 1) Centered on positive reinforcement techniques; 2) Allowed for puppies who have not completed their full set of vaccinations (Kaia was only partway through when we started); 3) Puppy socialization emphasized; 4) FREE TRIAL CLASS. Facilitated by two wonderful trainers, Olivia and Cassie (both of whom, frankly, make training your puppy look much easier than it actually is), each 60-minute class focuses on one or two commands ("sit", "go to bed", "come", etc.) interspersed with, my and Kaia's favorite part, puppy playtime where pups interact with one another off-leash. I learned so much from this course, but it wasn't so much about learning the commands as it was learning how to communicate with Kaia and how to better understand dog behavior and mannerisms. As with most things, your puppy's success with learning new skills rests entirely on the puppy parent to dedicate the time, energy and patience necessary for success. Kaia just completed her 8-week puppy class and can now respond to several commands but still struggles with keeping focus in certain situations because, well, she's still a puppy and we're both still learning! I brought my puppy in at 10 weeks old with concerns about parvo and all other dieseases, especially since my vet strongly recommended against it. However, the classes were conducted in a sterilized room. Here, my puppy learned vital skills she needed to become a well behaved and socialized dog. The classes were ran very professionally, with puppies and people of different experiences. Now, after eight weeks of classes, my puppy has completed her classes and has even obtained the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy award and medal. If a certain command is a little challenging, the trainers will assist you and teach you alternative ways to be successful. I attended the puppy kindergarten classes with Julie Brady, and I have to say i've had the BEST experience. My puppy was so fearful of humans, pups, noises to begin with but through this class she really gained her self confidence and is pretty happy all around now. However it was not only the class, but Julie who made the difference in Joules with her teaching technique. You can tell she really cares about each dog, has the patience, and knowledge that's required. I had some concerns about Joules and was desperate for some advise so I called Julie and she was available and SUPER helpful. During demonstrations she rotates dogs, and goes around to each person and helps troubleshoot. In addition, Julie is very creative in her teaching methods, so she has a lot of little tricks (never seen them on youtube) to get to the end goal that I now use. I'm planning to get a second dog next year and I hope that I'm able to take this class again with Julie. read more

I just wanna say how satisfied and happy i am to have chosen Karma Dog Training. The name is what led me to choose this training school and believe me when i say the people working here really believe and understand this word (karma), which is quite misunderstood and not valued at all now days in our society. They trully care for our kids(puppies lol) and one of their goal as teachers is to teach as how much we can trully learn from our dogs if we only listen, such as patience, which is what im learnin now. As we learn to listen to our dogs and treat them as we treat all things that we love dearly, our dogs learn the same and respond beautifully. Grandparents bred to be killers and mom antisocial completely. Noone had hopes for my little Shiva, but thank to Laura, shiva is a well behave puppy. He has his moments, puppy moments, and now 4 months his stage of rebellion lol but Laura is doin a magnificent job and i couldnt be more happier. We got our first family dog at Christmas time and we were looking for a place where we could get a jumpstart on training. I came across the puppy socialization class at Karma Dog and thought it sounded fun. Our dog Penny had such an amazing time playing with the other puppies. I didn't realize how important the socialization piece was for dogs. Penny is now five months old and we can take her anywhere. She responds well to other dogs and knows how to read them, when they want to play and when they want to be left alone. In addition to being great around other dogs and other people, she learned a number of behaviors that we find helpful (sit, down, leave it, stay).They also showed us how us how to be good dog owners by helping us prepare Penny for being touched everywhere at the Vet or getting spruced up at the groomers. Penny is a sweet adorable puppy and we loved her from day 1 but the puppy socialization class really improved our relationship with Penny. I'd highly recommend it. read more
