A place to spoil…read more your creatures Islandog is a small store that has gone to the dogs. Literally. However it's not just dogs but also kitties and even humans. A store for anyone who shares their home with a non human creature or perhaps knows someone else who does. Islandog probably could be called a pet boutique if it was in another location but on Block Island Islandog is a cool name. It's only a short walk from the ferry dock and has nice views of the ocean out on the deck. The store has all kinds of foolish, ridiculous, curious and humorous things that are centered on a dog or cat theme. Lots of t-shirts with your particular type of cur, also hats, bowls, cups, aprons, flags, door mats and just about anything else you can think of, all with a picture of a dog or cat plastered on it. Not all of the merchandise is foolish, they also have some practical items and edible treats. Cat people won't feel totally out of place here, they have some very humorous shirts and other items that reflect the amusing side of sharing life with a feline. Definitely an entertaining and fun store to spend some time in, especially if your beast expects a souvenir from ol' two legs.

My dog received an extremely poor groom. First, they trimmed his body which I did not request. In…read morefact, a body trim is not considered a proper groom for his breed. One side of his backside is noticeably longer than the other. Worst of all - there are patches on his back where the groomer got too aggressive with the trimmer (you can see his skin). It's so bad and looks like a 6 year old was playing with a trimmer. I notified the business but they never responded. If you want a consistent, decent looking groom for your dog, you might want to look elsewhere.

Shout out to Wag Nation for their kindness, flexibility & understanding -- & incredible grooming…read moreskills-- when it comes to visitors. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Scott's Kennels…read more They cared for my senior dog, Moxie, for nearly a week while I was over 3,000 miles away for work--and to say I was nervous would be an understatement. Moxie has special needs (a form of epilepsy) and very little experience staying in a kennel, so I was deeply concerned not only for her health, but also for how she would handle the stress of a new environment. I checked in twice while I was away, just to make sure everything was okay. Each time, the staff reassured me with such genuine warmth and kindness. It was immediately clear how much they cared about her--they spoke about Moxie like she was their own. I was so touched to learn that they were taking her out for extra one-on-one time and giving her special attention beyond the standard routine. When I picked her up, I was honestly amazed. She was happy, playful, and--somehow--even healthier than when I dropped her off. I had prepared special meals and treats for her, and they followed everything carefully and thoughtfully. (They also offer the option to use their food, which is great for flexibility.) The facility itself is incredibly clean, and the staff are not only professional but truly compassionate animal lovers. It's clear they spent a tremendous amount of time monitoring her, caring for her needs, and making sure she was comfortable and safe. It's now been over 24 hours since I brought her home, and I genuinely feel like she is an even happier, healthier dog after her stay--which is something I never expected. I had worried I might come home to a stressed dog who refused to eat or had experienced a seizure. Instead, I found the exact opposite. I highly, highly recommend Scott's Kennels. They gave me complete peace of mind, and I now know that if I ever need to travel again, Moxie will be in the best possible hands.

I would like to share my incredible experience of Rhodes Collar. We moved to Connecticut from…read moreArizona in January of 2025 with our poodle puppy Curtis less than 1 year old at the time. Immediately my cousin told me that this was the best school for dogs in the area. She was right that is for sure! My husband and I started taking our puppy to Rhodes Collar immediately and worked with Michelle on dog obedience skills in both private lessons and group classes. Curtis was able to get involved in a group class entitled Good Citizen Skills. He passed the class thanks to the excellent training from Michelle and owner Glenna and there continued patience with us as new owners of Curtis. We are still taking classes with Michelle and working on more advanced skills now, we really enjoy the classes. The staff are all amazing, Linda helps Curtis with the after school program, she is incredible, Maureen is amazing and helps with so many areas of running the school, Rileigh is also amazing and helps us when we need to board Curtis though Custom Care. We feel 100% confident that our puppy is safe and treated well when we go away, we get pictures and videos of everything he does at school like report cards or when boarding at a staff's home. Staff are always available in a on text and honestly this school is so amazing that my husband and I agree we are better dog owners since going to Rhodes Collar, we plan to be long time customers and are forever grateful to them. Many thanks Rhodes Collar for all you do.
