    Muteki Ramen - awesome namesake!!!!

Stuck in a hotel on a rainy and cold Saturday evening, so I used UberEats to order some ramen and dumplings. It was ahhhhhhazing! Ramen was hot and flavorful, perfect dinner for a chilly damp night watching movies! And the dumplings were to DIE for. I'm not in JC often but I totally plan on hitting this place next time I'm in town, rain or shine!

Great service, super fast food delivery and accommodating with extra sauces and spices. The food was fresh and delicious. The karage don bowl was perfect. The chicken breading was crispy and not floury like breaded chicken stripe can be. The kimchi beef baos were delicious. The inside is dark and intimate, with a lot of decor.

This is my go to ramen place near work in Jersey City. Service is always fast and they have a wide selection of different flavors of ramen to choose from. I like to try different ones just for the variety. Haven't found one I don't like yet!

I wanted to love this place because it's the closest thing to a traditional ramen shop (a la Ippudo, Ichiran, etc.) that DTJC has. Alas, the experience was as mixed as a controversial Sundance film. Our Muteki Wings had good texture, but were supposed to come with a yuzu miso sauce--but it didn't taste like yuzu or miso, just lots of thick sugar. My Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen was as bland as a potato salad with raisins: no spice, no umami, just a boringly unflavored broth with nice noodles. On the other hand, the Yuzu Shio Ramen was a winner and satisfied a deeply unaddressed part of my appetite that hasn't gotten a good yuzu-based broth since NYC's Mentoku Ramen closed (RIP forever and ever). I'll likely come back...but with less excitement.

Muteki Ramen in Jersey City is such a lovely little find. It's a small, cute spot tucked on a side street just off Washington, and it really feels like a cozy escape from the busier main roads. I ordered a Muteki ramen ($19) and pork buns set ($9). At first glance, the prices felt slightly high, but when you think about the location--literally a stone's throw from New York City--it's actually very reasonable. The same meal across the river would easily be close to $50, so for the area, I think it's a great value. The food itself was delicious. The broth was rich and comforting, and the pork bun was super tasty and well done. Service was excellent. My waiter was attentive, kind, and very helpful, especially since it was my first time there and I wasn't sure what to order. He made a great recommendation. The food also came out super fast, which I really appreciated. The decor is another highlight. Inside, it genuinely feels like you've been transported to Tokyo--intimate, stylish, and warm. It's the kind of place where you can just relax and enjoy your bowl of ramen. A couple of small downsides: * There's only one unisex bathroom, which can be a bit of a wait if it's busy. * Parking in the area is a bit challenging, so plan ahead if you're driving. Overall, though, I loved my experience at Muteki Ramen and would absolutely come back. Great food, great service, and a fun Tokyo-style vibe right in Jersey City.

Came here on a Friday night. I was visiting my friend and he suggested this spot. The place was crowded but luckily we didn't have to wait. We kicked it off with karaage fried chicken which was really crispy and juicy. Got an order of akashi takoyaki (octopus balls - PAUSE) which was tasty. Also got the pan-fried pork gyoza which looked really interesting, it had a nice crunch to it, I liked it a lot. For my main, I got the Muteki ramen ($19) and so good, especially the broth and pork. The presentation of the plating, even the chopsticks and service were great. I really liked this spot, and enjoyed this meal with good company. I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for ramen. * BYOB * Street parking

This is from two different delivery orders, within a three month span. Sparkling rose water: I love the taste of rose but it was like I was licking the rose water I spray on my face Udon: Great portion of noodles, meat, and other toppings- I got it extra spicy- it comes with an egg! Volcano Ramen: The broth is amazing, but there was next to note meat or toppings and it doesn't come with an egg, it's basically all noodle- for the price tag it's not worth it.

The ramen here really hits the spot. It's fast, delicious and they give you enough to fill you for hours. I ordered the Tonkotsu bowl with a lemon lime bomb tea drink. Came out to around $27. Pretty expensive but it's also downtown jersey city. The food was delivered in eco friendly and reusable containers. There's plenty of parking in the area and within walking distance to the light rail and bus stops. Definitely recommend this for a rainy day or if you're just in the mood for a ramen bowl.

I stopped in to get lunch. When I arrived I walked in and was greeted. I was sat and served by Kelly and Kelvin and they were nice! I ordered the Thai Green Curry Ramen. It came out in about 15 minutes. I enjoyed the ramen and it's flavors! All in all a good experience!

Food (5/5): Overall solid food with the karaage chicken and okonomoyaki being really solid dishes. I also enjoyed my Katsu curry but it could've used stronger flavors. Service (5/5): Friendly and helpful service whereby they checked up on us frequently. We were one of a few groups in the restaurant. Ambiance (4/5): Overall nice interior and I like the noodle pull display at the entrance. There's a nice homey feel to the restaurant with a bunch of great Japanese decorations.

So happy that Muteki is in Jersey City now!! Finally, a Ramen and Donburi place that is delicious, fast, and affordable!! Their dine in is good, lots of seating and their takeout is also good, fast and packaged well (so important!!) Happy to come eat here anytime!!!

I will admit, they have an animated bowl of ramen in the front of the store, which drew me in. However, I'm so glad I discovered this place as a result of their fun marketing strategy! I walked in on a Thursday night and there were plenty of tables. We were seated immediately. To start off with, we got the Kaarage Fried Chicken. This was crispy and juicy, all in one bite. I also really liked the sauce they drizzled on the top. For a drink, my fiance got the Thai Iced Tea. The presentation was so cute and he got to pour in the milk himself! Very fun and creative. For our mains, we got the Miso Ramen and Braised Minced Pork Don. The Miso Ramen broth was perfect and there was a wonderful balance of toppings. The pork was soft and this was exactly what I was craving. The Braised Minced Pork Don was a hearty serving with an incredible quantity of pork, rice, and vegetables. All to say, I was very pleased and think this is going to become a staple resturant for my family!

Tasty ramen but average, generous portion size, good service, nice vibes. Little on the expensive side.

A Decade of Love on a Plate: A Local Favorite That Punches Above Its Weight…read more This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem--the kind you almost want to keep secret, yet can't stop yourself from praising. Cheap and cheerful on the surface, it punches way above its weight class, delivering inventive, clean, Asian-inspired food that's masterfully cooked by clearly skilled hands--and made with real love. I've been coming back year after year for most of this restaurant's 10-year lifespan, and that consistency is no accident. Every dish tastes intentional, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying, with a clear goal: to feed people love on a plate. It's a super veggie/vegan friendly that easily wins over even my "meat and potatoes" husband--who happily cleans his plate every time. In an era where genuine hospitality feels increasingly rare, Perry single-handedly restored my faith that quality service is not extinct. Warm, attentive, and authentically kind, Perry makes every guest feel seen, welcome, and cared for--without pretense or attitude. This is food that nourishes, service that uplifts, and a place that keeps you coming back not just for the flavors, but for how it makes you feel. A true neighborhood treasure.

I've seen this restaurant circling my YELP for the last few months and put it on my "want to try"…read morelist. This place is absolutely solid! If you're looking for good flavorful food options, this has got to be on your "must try" list, I genuinely do not think you'll be disappointed. I ordered the blueberry lemon iced tea, maitake mushroom medley with the option of udon noodles & added chicken, the coconut curry with the option of ramen noodles and the rice pudding with caramel sauce for dessert. First things first, my absolute FAVORITE thing about this restaurant is the food contains no GMO's no preservatives, pink Himalayan salt to season and NO REFINED sugars- only agave and palm sugar to sweeten. I WISH I would've known about this spot sooner JUST for that detail alone. I am always on the hunt for a place that offers refined sugar free options, and with that comes this level of safety knowing what I am consuming has a heath standard/holistic approach to meet and me not having to feel guilty or worrisome after a meal. Absolute 10/10 in that aspect. I saw a few reviews mention the blueberry lemon iced tea, as someone not even a fan of lemonade I decided to give it a try. Let's just say, I was slow sipping my drinks to not finish it all and avoid getting another in the same sitting lol. It's well balanced, not sour, blueberry flavor is present and knowing it's sweetened with agave led to guilt free pleasure. Would recommend everyone to try it, even if you're not a fan of lemonade like I am. Another mention, lemonade tends to make my throat dry, due to its sourness and tanginess and that didn't happen at all. Think the blueberry was more prominent than the lemon, it was really enjoyable. The curry ramen was a highlight! If your a fan of curry, I think you def have got to try this. I actually didn't get it (my partner did) because I didn't wanna be let down, but it was absolutely delicious. I got the maitake medley udon noddles with added chicken and what a blast of flavor. It had veggies, mushrooms, chicken, udon, eggs, kimchi and was extremely flavorful. I was very surprised that each element of the dish had its own flavor and spice that really jumped out, but paired well together. The least favorite thing for me on this platter was the eggs. Just your standard egg, I'm a fan of soy-marinated eggs on my noodles and not a fan of regular boiled eggs, but they are always an added protein plus! One honorary note, is the kimchi. I like kimchi, don't love it, but this was the best kimchi I have ever had. I even ordered a side to go. Another cool thing is the food is cooked fresh, right in front of you. Tbh, we were the only ones in there at 6 PM and food took quite a while, but I appreciate and prefer freshness over quickness always. The rice pudding is light and the homemade refunded sugar-free caramel addition makes it so much better. As there were only two options of dessert on the menu (rice pudding & matcha ice cream) I decided to give it a go although I'm not really a fan of rice pudding. Was it amazing? No. Would I get it again? Possibly. This place was on the pricier side I would say. My bowl of maitake mushroom w/chicken (added chicken being a $6.50 dollar up charge) was $34. Worth it for that price point? Not really, but good none the less. I also ordered a small side of kimchi (the small clear containers) and that was $7 which I think is crazy, but also it was good. For a better price point, I might've asked for a jar lol. Customer service- the workers were nice, but not really personable, which I don't really care for much, but bringing this up because there was this sense that maybe I shouldn't be in there or they just possibly didn't want to work. I tipped nonetheless, but for being the only couple or people in there I thought we would be greeted by everyone, just a simple acknowledgement, but it felt more like we were bothering them by walking in. I understand that people have their days and you have no clue what someone is going through personally, but it was distinct enough to mention- especially as someone who never really comments on the customer service aspect. I see through it cuz the food was great! Something about it was also just a let down, but I can't put my finger on it. Although it was good, I don't see myself frequenting this place. Maybe the price point is deterring me, but I do think it's worth a try!

The menu had enough options, the prices were comparable, we enjoyed the food, and the service was adequate. And, whenever possible I liked to support small family-owned and/or local businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $53.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). The dining room had a comfortable, approachable energy with a layout that accommodated both small groups and solo diners, and the outdoor seating added another option when the weather was nice, giving the restaurant a more open feel. The menu offers a variety of ramen options along with appetizers and other Japanese dishes, making it easy to find something depending on what we were craving. We ordered a few items and found the ramen with a flavorful broth, well-prepared noodles, and satisfying toppings that made it a comforting meal. The spicy tonkotsu ramen stood out with a richer broth and a nice balance of heat, the spice building gradually without overwhelming the other flavors. The karaage was a great addition with a crispy exterior and savory flavor, the coating light and the meat staying juicy. They also offered unique options like tempura buns and different ramen variations for those looking to try something beyond the classics, each dish arriving well assembled and thoughtfully prepared. From the moment we walked in, the owner personally seated us and ended up cooking our food himself. He has a quirky, memorable personality that adds to the charm of the whole experience. It's the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with intention rather than being rushed out of a big commercial kitchen. The dishes were packed with flavor and tasted very authentic. You can really tell the ingredients and spices are balanced the way Thai food should be -- bold, savory, a little spicy, and deeply satisfying. Everything we ordered had great texture and presentation as well. Overall, it was a unique dining experience with authentic flavors and a memorable host. If you're looking for a polished corporate restaurant this isn't it -- but if you want something personal, quirky, and genuinely delicious, Prince & I is absolutely worth visiting. Would definitely come back!!
