Such a cute little space. I had a day off and searched "nature center" to take my toddler and ended…read moreup here. The outside makes it look a bit more impressive than the inside. There is a beautiful exterior with some pretty nature trails nearby. The inside seems to be somewhat wasted space as there is a small exhibit section, a play section, and a gift shop but also wide open conference room space, classroom space, and bird watching space that could have a bit more interaction to occupy little hands and minds. I appreciate the toddler friendly activities in the play space, though. It didn't look like much but there was a nice assortment of books, puzzles, stuffed animals, and a couple other things that could be pulled out and gone through one at a time to take up space. My son also enjoyed the nature trail storybook outside, although it was a bit long for little legs and we didn't get to finish. Overall, I really enjoyed my outing here and think a few small additions could make this center even better.

That said, crossing Lake Michigan on a boat is something I think everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime, and I'm thrilled I had the chance to do it in comfort. The staff is fantastic. The food is better than it has to be. And the drink selection includes New Glarus beers. Don't tell the brewery that the ferry company is bringing their brews across state lines (even if just for half of the journey). It can get windy up top. Bring a wind breaker. Dress appropriately. But whatever you do, find some way to spend as much time on the top deck in the great outdoors as possible. Perhaps the best seats on the ship though are the row of metal chairs in the stern. They are outside, but protected from the wind by the cabin. If you are a pro, you may want to consider carrying on a cushion to make those cold metal seats more comfortable. Milwaukee looks beautiful from the lake. While it may be more convenient for me personally to drive around the lake to get there, I am grateful for the experience of arriving by ship. Should the opportunity arise again to traverse the lake, and I'm feeling a bit flush, I would strongly consider another trip.
