At the end of just one week I was amazed at how much he learned; they had a presentation showing the parents what the kids did during the week and demonstrate the new acquired knowledge. Singing, playing simple songs on ukulele, simple key notes on the piano, naming so many musical instruments, role playing, painting and doing art projects...I am sure I missed something but the point is that there was a lot of learning done in a fun way in just a week. The teachers Mrs. Goldman and Mrs. Cobb are very nurturing and make sure the kids stay on task in a kind way. Most if all my son loved it and felt very important because he got to as he says" get smarter" . Very highly recommended.

The Music Loft has been a highly respected and valued business and part of the Herndon community…read morefor many years. My oldest has been taking piano lessons there for 6 years now and only ever has good things to say about both the lessons and instructor. I now also have my youngest starting drum lessons and can't believe the smile that's plastered on his face at the end of each lesson. This is a kid who'd prefer to play video games more than anything so it's like he's a different person once he goes to his lessons. The instructors live and breathe music and you can always tell how much they enjoy sharing their love of music by the way they talk to you about lessons, music history, performances, etc. Many, if not all, have degrees related to music and come with years of experience performing and teaching. Some even continue performing locally and internationally throughout the year while teaching at TML. In other words, taking lessons here all but guarantees that the instructor is qualified educationally along with performance experience that backs up their instructional knowledge. The owners and admin staff are the nicest and most personable people you can interact with for a busy music studio. I've always appreciated their willingness to help whenever I need a schedule modification or with any other logistical issue I might have. These folks will treat you like family from day one and are always quick to respond kindly. They do provide a free trial lesson with zero pressure to sign up. My son did a trial piano lesson several years ago but it wasn't for him so we didn't push and TML understood that. They're not the type of business to convince you to take lessons if music or a specific instrument isn't for you (or your child). They're worth a try especially if you're on the fence about starting lessons.

The idea of ear plugs for his sensitive ears. Picking out songs he likes so he can learn them with other kids. His teacher is great! And he is really enjoying it! The lessons are twice a week so it keeps drumming in his head. It feels like he is on his way to be in a kid band instead of stuck in a sound proof room playing patterns. We are very happy with the whole experience. The office manager is professional, smart and well organized. The teachers are talented and good to the kids. We will be here for a while! I look forward to my son's concerts in the future! PS - we have been to several concerts performed by a plethora of students. Very cool. Great experience!!

One male teacher made my 12yo daughter feel so uncomfortable that we had to end the lessons. Another would just forget to come sometimes. The value is limited because their policy around rescheduling is so restrictive, even while their own instructors regularly move or cancel sessions. So if your child is sick or you travel or there is an emergency, you will still pay for the lesson. Even though it is convenient to have lessons in your home, the instructors weren't good enough to make this worth it over time.

The receptionist tells me that he messaged the instructor and is waiting in her response. After a few more minutes he tells me that she was not aware of a lesson today because she did not check her schedule. he apologizes and offers to reschedule us for the following week. We show up again the following week about 10 minutes early and the instructor is not there. So after a few minutes, I ask the receptionist. He confirms she should be here by now as they like to have all instructors arrive 10 to 15 minutes before a scheduled session. Clearly that was not happening. After 5 minutes past our appointment time. Someone comes running in past us and goes into a room. She then come out, calls a name and motions for my daughter to come with her. i asked her who she was, she says she is Nari. Clearly calling my child the incorrect name, I want to give feedback to the manager. The receptionist tells me Luke is the manager as well. Which is shocking as he clearly sees what's going on and he too says nothing to acknowledge it. But he apologizes as he witnessed the issues and states that their needs to be more coaching of the employee. if you end up with this instructor be mindful that you may end up with last minute cancellations and no communication and lack of professionalism.
