Update! Our son Chris is continuing to thrive at this school. His knowledge and skill level is excelling very rapidly. Chris takes his music lessons very seriously and we have increased our lesson time to double time. Music theory with Paul and Guitar and Bass with Greg. Chris has attended other schools and has reported back that Greg is the teacher he feels he learns the most from in Guitar and Bass, classical acoustic and electric. Music is a self directed inspired passion. What Chris loves is that Greg is always willing to shift gears to what interests Chris the most without hesitation but the right way, in terms of foundational strength. Paul is a teacher and mentor to Chris. If you have little ones, I have no doubt that they will grow like family in this school. Chris started when he was 9 years old with classical piano. The band part of this school's program allow Chris to participate in song selection which is very important to him. All the band members have a say in song selection to be fair and this is important. Volume is adjustable for rehearsals which is very important for the safety of hearing. As with anything you get what you put into music lessons. Rapport and chemistry between a teacher and a student is paramount. If you are willing to dedicate attention time and effort to learning then your outcome will be the absolute best. I continue to highly recommend the high level instruction of this school for Guitar, Bass, classical acoustic, and Piano. Reading music and music theory as well. The chemistry with Chris and his teachers is a valuable treasure to me as a mom. In my opinion, if our son is excelling and enthusiastic to attend lessons always then that says it all. In contrast to places such as School of Rock or Music & Arts, this business teaches slow. A student at this place won't learn essentials as fast compared to other areas. In addition, for guitar they don't teach crucial elements such as step down tuning. read more

If I can give it a 0, I would. Do NOT get yourself involved with this company! It's been a week and I have yet to hear from the owner to discuss an issue I had to either cancel or switch instructors. Nope, no call from anyone, still waiting. In the meantime I dealt with the most unprofessional instructor, Adam. Harassing me with text messages and accusing me that my small child being sick was not important. They don't follow their own policies. Although the receptionist lady clearly stated last week that I will receive a call from the owner to discuss the incident and "you should receive a refund back to your credit card but the owner will call you to speak about it" I am so upset that there are people like this.... More than just lessons.... My daughter has been taking vocal classes at Music U on an off for 6 years now. Each of the 3 teachers that she has worked with during that time have been talented in their own right, very qualified and extremely good at teaching voice. Being part of Music U has also provided my daughter with the opportunity to perform a few times at the Freehold Mall as well as benefit events. My daughters band now takes instruction from owner Paul Sallee who has helped guide the bands original songs through to radio quality recordings. Do not....I repeat do not go to this place for music lessons. My 9 year old daughter started taking lessons there in February of 2011. She had a natural love for the piano. Her teacher (Bachman I think is the name) is very impatient and down right nasty with her students. My daughter left there crying twice. The second time which was this past Tuesday was the last straw and we pulled her out of that place. We also know of two other friends who cancelled their lessons with this same teacher this week alone. When we called the owner or the manager, he said he would "handle it". He made no attempt to offer us another teacher or to apologize for the actions of his employee. This is not how to run a business. read more

I had the privilege to do several shows here and continue to do so, and study under the wonderful Shannon Brueckner. I can't begin to say how wonderful everyone is. The people are friendly, the facility is warm and inviting, and as for quality of lessons there it is amazing. I have been a student at Music University for years now and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Everyone there is so friendly and accommodating. The teachers are always very open to working on the things you want to work on and are very reasonable about makeups. The front desk is always very friendly and helpful and the owner could not be nicer. All and all Music University is by far the best music school in the area. read more
