I brought them my Peavey Classic 50 amp to sell on consignment. I gave them a few months to sell it. Then I called to find out what was going on with it. They said they were going to send me a check. It never came. So every time I call they give me a story about how the owner is not there. Yesterday I dropped by there on the way home from work. The kid working there gave the usual BS story about how the owner is not there. He said I could call tomorrow to see if the owner is there. So I call this morning, and a guy answers the phone. He hands the phone off to some other guy. He asks if I was there yesterday. I say yes and he starts screaming at me that he told me to call Wednesday. When I was there yesterday he told me to call today. I do not recommend doing business with this store. read more

My son has been taking drum lessons here for about 3 years. Great teacher (Donn). My son loves it!! As for the store. Nice guys working here who will try their best to help you out. Frank generally seems to be the most knowledgeable of them all and isn't pushy. Huge guitar selection, but the bass selection leaves something to be desired!! Very limited and has gotten stale. Basic selection of other equipment and prices are on a par with most other places. read more

Brought my guitar in a few months ago for a refret and electronics assessment. Cant't even begin to explain my level of satisfaction. I have a Gibson Custom Shop R9 that never leaves my side...with that being said, it is highly worn in, and broken in to my standards. At this point it is 12 years old and I have been experiencing weird playing issues and electronic havoc. Frank, the repair tech, thoroughly explained every issue I was having; flat frets which caused high spots, divots that would cause intonation issues, and a back bent neck... all with corroded electronics. I live by the shore and Frank explained how the excess humidity, moisture, and salt water can have a bad affect on instruments. He also gave me pointers to maintain these factors over time. He gave the whole harness a thorough cleaning and didn't even charge me for it! The repair was done on time and as promised! It's a hard task to accomplish, but when a tech can make your #1 feel even more inviting and sleeker than ever before; it really makes you feel like this guy repaired this instrument as if it were his #1. The level of craft, quality, and value are all there. The environment is warm. The staff is friendly. I am happy to say I have made a great crew of friends at this place. It's awesome to walk into a store and actually have knowledgeable people greet you! I was so impressed with how I was treated I signed my daughter and son up for piano and guitar lessons. They love their teachers and I love spending hours in this place! It's quickly become my second home. read more

The staff is helpful as well and had no problem assisting me without pressuring me to buy something. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Rental equipment is sub par. Staff not properly trained on equipment repair. Brought violin rental in for new strings and the store had ONE set in stock. Needless to say the person attempting to restring broke the new strings ATTEMPTING to perform the string change. Still waiting for new strings almost THREE weeks later. The store has been under renovation for more than a year and looks like a hell hole about to go out of business. NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR GUITAR HERE! I usually don't write reviews but I feel people have the right to know about their tech before bringing their instrument here for repair/setup. I brought my taylor gs mini here for setup and it'll be the LAST time I go here. Not only was the tech there unpleasant and condescending, but he also sounded like he had no clue what he was doing. He informed me that the saddle needed to be shimmed after the neck adjustment, and that there was a previous blue shim under the saddle. I informed him that it was a passive piezo pickup, to which he responded, "there is no pickup in there". Wow. Really? He worked on the guitar and didn't even realize that there was a under saddle pickup in the guitar. So he instantly changed his mind, and agreed that yes there is a pickup in there. I found out later that he shimmed it with a piece of nylon cable tie. That's why I decided that people should have some information before trusting their instrument. I thought it would be better to bring it to a local music shop than bringing it to guitar center but now I wish I did. Lastly, I was given elixir polyweb strings instead of nanoweb, when I paid for nanowebs, probably assumed that people don't know the difference. So if you're ok with being treated this way as a customer, this might be your place. For me I wouldn't bring my instruments here again, better off going to John at Hyway music in east brunswick rt 18. read more

One of the coolest REAL music stores left in New Jersey. Great guitar selection,prices and repair man. I recently saw the Smithereens guitars being setup there before they went on the road with Tom Petty. I also heard a bunch of 10 year old kids playing on their stage that they were training that sounded better than most cover bands! I like my music stores to have a vibe unlike most other "walmart" type stores. read more

The Musicians workshop is a family run establishment, friendly and not pushy they will not try to sell you something you do not need. My son took drum lessons there for a year with Joe Febb, excellent teacher extremely knowledgeable and great with the kids. My Son has also been participating in their Rock Shop program, this is an ensemble program that puts kids together in groups for a live performance. He loves it and the director James is great. I also have to comment on Frankie the repair guy, i see some negative posts, I can not verify your negative experience but my experience with Frank is completely positive, he has worked on two of my guitars, and as stated he never conducted any repair without my prior knowledge and review including cost. His repair work is impeccable. I have also purchased multiple equipment from there including my Sons first drum kit and a recent guitar, every time the experience is pleasant and friendly read more
