I enjoy playing music very much, although I play more for catharsis than for proceeds. While I won't be selling out any stadiums in this life, I did have some old musical instruments to sell. My desire for cash is what led me Music Go Round. Music Go Round, located in Castleton, is an independently owned franchise. Its independent ownership gives it a mom-and-pop feel, where the patron feels truly appreciated. The store carries a wide array of new and (mostly) used musical equipment. While the business is very guitar-dominated, the customer can find basses, keyboards, drums, banjos, and ukuleles - and all the accompanying equipment. If you're looking for that gently used Gibson Les Paul, Music Go Round will sell it to you at a better price than Guitar Center will. The selling process at Music Go Round is simple, straightforward, and honest. In my case, I sold a very nice banjo I no longer played, as well as an inexpensive electric guitar. The store owner diligently checked the banjo's specific model (which was not a simple task), looked at its selling pice on Reverb, and made me a fair offer. I was given another fair offer on the guitar. Once the deal was complete, off I went with a check and lots of memories of my banjo pickin' days. Whether you're looking to buy or sell (or both), Music Go Round is your place. Check 'em out.

I followed my husband in here on Saturday afternoon when he decided he didn't need one of his trombones any longer. We normally sell items like this on Craigslist, but he had a lot of other projects going on at the time, so honestly unloading it at a store like this was a better choice for his sanity. We were greeted when we walked in and told that a staff member would be with us in just a few minutes. That gave us a chance to walk around and see all they had to offer. They have a huge selection of guitars, drum kits, keyboards, and the like. There are a few brass instruments toward the back of the store, and everything in between. They encourage patrons to try everything there on the floor, so it was pretty loud in there with several people noodling around on various instruments. When the employee was available, my husband presented the trombone to him. The employee took a few minutes to evaluate its condition and run some numbers before giving my husband a fair offer, which he accepted. Sure, he might have been able to make a little bit more of a profit on it if he had sold it himself online, but he really didn't have the time to mess with it. And like I said, the offer was fair. They didn't lowball him. The staff we really personable and helpful the whole time we were in the store, not just to us, but everyone. We had a really good experience and will do business with them again.

Came in with a guitar problem and they fixed it up free of charge. Can't recommend this place enough.

Friendly, knowledgable staff. The prices for used acoustic guitars seemed a little high though.

I learned that Martin had released a new mahogany guitar (the D-17) and I really wanted to play one…read moreto see if I might want to trade one of my Martins to buy one, or perhaps even buy one outright. I found out there was one in the area, located at Reno's Music. I had never heard of this establishment before but I saw on their website that they have a lot of Martin guitars in their inventory. So when my husband and I were in the general neighborhood, we decided to stop in and have a look. This turned out to be a really bad idea. I have been playing guitar for 55 years and my husband also for nearly as long. My father was an Indianapolis jazz guitarist who will be inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Hall Of Fame in 2026. I have been visiting guitar stores since I was a little girl, and never have I been treated so rudely EVER. There was one guy working there, and zero customers. Most guitar shops are lively, upbeat places filled with music but this was basically an office with a storeroom of what looked to be a zillion boxed-up guitars. I asked this person if he had a D-17 because I was interested in playing one. He launched into this gatekeeper routine that would have made my father laugh with scorn and then turn around and head straight out the door. This guy said, "First we're going to have a little conversation". What??? I thought this was a business and I just wanted to see a guitar! He wanted to know our names. I thought wtf? Our names won't mean anything to you? But I gave them, first and last, and then he replied that his name was Mark. Okay fine, whatever. Do you play? he wanted to know. Okay, why would I even be in a place like that if I didn't play? I was playing before this guy was even thought of! Well, after I replied yes, we both do, he condescended to let me try the guitar. It was a very nice guitar but I had already made up my mind that I would not be buying a $1 kazoo off this guy. I played one more guitar there and we left. Needless to say, I will take my money and my business elsewhere. I am still in the market for a high-end Martin but thankfully there are many other guitar stores in the Indianapolis area that are far more welcoming and treat their customers like they want their business - NOT like they are doing them some kind of a favor just letting them in the door. I've seen other reviews left by people who had much the same experience with Reno's Music, so it wasn't just us, it's how this place is, unfortunately.

I've been shopping at Reno's for almost 30 years across 4 locations. In the last 15 years they…read morehave really cemented themselves as the best acoustic guitar shop in Indy, and easily one of the best Martin dealers in the Midwest and online. Mark is a great dude who is genuine and makes a real connection with folks. We nerd out on guitars and fiddle tunes and whatnot, and there's never any pressure, but he's also been attentive to what I've been searching for as a player. When the CEO-7's first came out and couldn't be found, he gave me a buzz and said "This one has something, no rush, I'll keep it in the back until you get a chance to swing by." It's the only time he's ever called direct on a specific guitar and I'm so glad he did. It's still my #1 acoustic. Cut to a few years later and I was wanting to buy a custom Martin changing the specs of an existing model. Mark got me around 10 quotes across 3 years as I considered what I wanted to do before I was ready to pull the trigger. Never any pressure, always just "That sounds awesome, let's see what they say!" I bought that guitar, then it was delayed at the start of the Pandemic. Mark stayed in touch with updates and when it finally arrived, had me in safely to the shop on my own as we had a 4 week old daughter on top of it all. Years later as that guitar needed a neck reset from the Factory, Mark helped me get all of the planning set to drop it off as I passed through PA. Cut to a few years later and as I finished my PhD in music technology I wanted to finally get a 12-fret Martin. Again, several months of another 7-10 quotes before I was ready to pick the right one. As he was on a trip to the factory per my request he sent me photos of Wild Grain Indian Rosewood and Swiss Spruce options. Ordered and waited. When the guitar arrived, we pulled it out of the box and the lightest picking was beautiful...but if I dug in things weren't right. Mark got out the straight-edge and we found that the neck was underset. I don't view this as any reflection on Mark or Martin really, just a dumb luck thing to have happen twice. He let me make decisions about the next steps to take, but did all of the work for contacting the factory and navigated all the steps necessary of having the replacement parts selected and built. On top of all of that, he takes the best pictures, runs a great website, and is the first place I would send anyone within 300 miles that was looking for a new Martin (and other acoustics as well). My 2 custom orders are not at the high end of the range, they're really just small changes to existing platforms, but Mark has always treated me with great respect and kindness. With the Eastman and Bourgeois options in the store, I'd say that for anyone looking for their first great acoustic, their ultimate, or anything in between, this is the place. I couldn't tell you how many guitars I've played in the shop, but I'd guess I'm getting close to 100. I remember a few I should have bought, but mostly I think about the good times just hanging out, marveling at these wonderful instruments that bring so much joy to our lives. I'm extremely grateful to have a place like Reno's that I know on any given afternoon I could swing by, see and play something really cool, and have a great chat.

Today, 3/2/2026, I went there to place an order for an item. Don was on the phone helping a customer and at the same time helping a customer physically there in front of him. And politely told me that he'll be with me shortly. What I noticed is, while on the phone, he was explaining to a customer something about the fretboard on his guitar. He spoke calmly with specific instructions to the customer and calmly gave the customer reassurance about how to handle his situation. When he finished with the customer on the phone and finished up with the customer that was in front of me, he was not angry or bothered and greeted me with a smile. In less than 10 minutes, my order was taken and I was on my way. This is called "attention to detail". If GC had 5 more employees like Don, it would be a much better place to shop. Somebody give this guy a raise!

I drove far out of my way but ended up spending $2,800 at a competitors store because your guy was too busy ignoring me and talking to the other guy, I saw four other customers walk out over the same thing. Great store and had a fascinating talk with the owner. I'll stop in again when in Indianapolis.read more

They managed to delete my review from Google, so here it is:…read more 5/2/25 Well, I should have known better. I really wanted to do business with a local music store. Been in several times before, owner didn't make me feel real welcome, but thought I would give it another chance. Stopped by on the way home looking for a practice guitar amp. Had looked at prices online different brand. Zane Franklin, "The Prince/Sales Manager" helped me (out of my money). Said, "I have a used Blackstar ID Core 40 V2 that I can get you a deal on" of course we all like deals, so I said ok. He brought it in the room and said "I can get this for you for the same price as the Blackstar ID Core 20 V4, $229. Being bigger and better (I assumed, bad move) I liked the sound of it, thought why not, I'll take it. Made the mistake of googling the amp after I made the purchase. The V2 is obsolete, and the V4, brand new sells for $229, the price I paid for a used amp. Never buy something from Zane that you don't know the price of elsewhere. He made sure he had me sign the receipt, and of course I wasn't paying attention to the words right above my signature "ALL SALES FINAL NO REFUNDS". I claim responsibility for being taken advantage of, it's what happens when you are in a hurry. There won't be a second time. I will go to Guitar Center or drive to Fort Wayne and go to Sweetwater. Thanks Zane, you got me. ***UPDATE**** My google review was not deleted, google did not post it due to it having a link in it. Once I deleted the link it was immediately posted. Now the good part, 12 minutes after posting, Zane called me and apologized for the mistake he had made regarding the sale price and refunded a reasonable amount of the purchase price. Thank you Zane for making this right!
