Mixed experiences here. I've bought a couple of guitars and amps from them now. Their prices tend to be reasonable. Customer Service is a mixed bag, though. As mentioned, the owner's a little quirky. I think he means well, but doesn't know as much about guitars as he'd like. And he gets pretty defensive if he's not the one in the know on something. That's not the end of the world. But it's an odd experience in an exclusively USED instrument store. Because those of us who have been playing and collecting for decades are going to come in and occasionally have a little more knowledge on something obscure they've got in, etc. If someone with gray hair who knows how to disassemble and review an instrument comes in, it behooves you to trust that he understands it. They stand by their own intake inspection to a fault. If you find something they missed on their intake inspection--even if it's glaring like the guitar doesn't make sound when plugged in--then you've got an uphill battle to prove your case even if you haven't left the store with the instrument yet. If you're looking for a deal on something generic, I think this place will get you through alright. If you're collecting, then this place is probably going to weird you out a little. read more

I enjoy playing music very much, although I play more for catharsis than for proceeds. While I won't be selling out any stadiums in this life, I did have some old musical instruments to sell. My desire for cash is what led me Music Go Round. Music Go Round, located in Castleton, is an independently owned franchise. Its independent ownership gives it a mom-and-pop feel, where the patron feels truly appreciated. The store carries a wide array of new and (mostly) used musical equipment. While the business is very guitar-dominated, the customer can find basses, keyboards, drums, banjos, and ukuleles - and all the accompanying equipment. If you're looking for that gently used Gibson Les Paul, Music Go Round will sell it to you at a better price than Guitar Center will. The selling process at Music Go Round is simple, straightforward, and honest. In my case, I sold a very nice banjo I no longer played, as well as an inexpensive electric guitar. The store owner diligently checked the banjo's specific model (which was not a simple task), looked at its selling pice on Reverb, and made me a fair offer. I was given another fair offer on the guitar. Once the deal was complete, off I went with a check and lots of memories of my banjo pickin' days. Don't bother showing up here the staff won't let you touch any of the guitars and are extremely rude. Good luck selling your overpriced guitars when you won't let anyone touch them. Your associate embarrassingly told me "People like you would better be served at Guitar Center". And then I clarified by saying "You mean people that want to touch guitars?" And your associate said "Exactly!" And I will be going to Guitar Center or Sam Ash from now on, you will never get a penny from me. You should be ashamed of yourselves. The best part of this story is I was seriously considering purchasing the blue Fender Telecaster. Now you lost a sale and I get to tell everyone how you treat customers. I had visited my regular nearby guitar store..(I won't mention the name) that I had bought quite a bit from and received really poor customer service. Needless to say I left and I stumbled across Music Go Round! I was very glad I did! Adam was absolutely fabulous and went above and beyond to help me. I followed my husband in here on Saturday afternoon when he decided he didn't need one of his trombones any longer. We normally sell items like this on Craigslist, but he had a lot of other projects going on at the time, so honestly unloading it at a store like this was a better choice for his sanity. We were greeted when we walked in and told that a staff member would be with us in just a few minutes. That gave us a chance to walk around and see all they had to offer. They have a huge selection of guitars, drum kits, keyboards, and the like. There are a few brass instruments toward the back of the store, and everything in between. They encourage patrons to try everything there on the floor, so it was pretty loud in there with several people noodling around on various instruments. When the employee was available, my husband presented the trombone to him. The employee took a few minutes to evaluate its condition and run some numbers before giving my husband a fair offer, which he accepted. Sure, he might have been able to make a little bit more of a profit on it if he had sold it himself online, but he really didn't have the time to mess with it. And like I said, the offer was fair. They didn't lowball him. The staff we really personable and helpful the whole time we were in the store, not just to us, but everyone. We had a really good experience and will do business with them again. read more

For one I like used gear for the price. Two older gear sounds better. Three if you suck it's your own fault and life is what you make it. I have had two bad customer service experiences with the manager in this store. Most recently I was in there to buy a Xmas present for my son. A guitar case for his Gibson les Paul standard. The manager Paul B. was unwilling to let me see an actual Gibson Les Paul in one of their cases and insisted that I see an epiphone equivalent in the case instead. Since there are subtle differences between the Gibson and the Epiphone in the headstock and body profile, I wanted to make sure that it would be a good fit for my sons les Paul standard. The manager had a generally arrogant demeanor and did not believe this was important. His "take it or leave it" customer service skills would be a better in a non customer facing position. As a result, I went to Guitar Center and they allowed me to see an actual Gibson Les Paul in one of their cases. I was able to purchase a higher quality case and confirmed that it would be a good fit. read more

Worst ever keep it short they sent me a damaged guitar and won't return my money....don't shop here!!!

Went in to get some advice on purchasing a guitar for my child who is a beginner. When I asked for help, not knowing anything about guitars myself, we were advised to "see which guitar feels best" and when we tried that and inquired with additional questions, our questions largely went unanswered. Staff was nice... just not at all useful in helping us figure out what to purchase. We left and my child and I laughed about how comical we found the whole experience. Maybe if you really know your stuff you'd come out better than we did... it did seem like they had an interesting and varied selection of used products. But not a store for novices. read more

I have been here a few times and it's a very nice music shop. The workers aren't pushy but are totally willing to help if needed. I went within the first few months of it opening and the selection was surprisingly varied. Lots of quality used instruments, amps, and other accessories. I traded in an electric guitar that I was not super fond of for a nice, mid-priced Fender Stratocaster, and I feel that it was a pretty fair deal. They even threw in a genuine Fender hard case. Prices are maybe slightly, slightly higher than other similar shops, but the vibe here is superior. It's been many months since I've last been here, but will no doubt be back in the future. read more

Stopped in today for the first time and couldn't have had a better experience. I came in looking for a guitar pedal, but ended up trying out a bunch of guitars and amps. The staff even helped me get set up, and offered tons of advice to help me figure out exactly what I was looking for. I brought my kids along, which some music stores are not especially cool with, but I felt that my children were welcomed here. Nobody cared when they walked around looking and touching things, which made it much easier to browse and enjoy my time here. We'll be back soon! read more

Gloves are actually less sanitary, and are only effective if replaced every time people touch their masks or face, therefore likely result in more transmission of virus because they cannot be sanitized. The CDC advises against gloves for this reason. I am a workplace health and safety consultant. I appreciate strict mask requirements from all businesses. I used hand sanitizer and before I even was able to say the first word of "are you sure that's the most hygienic", I was cut off by the person sitting at the desk, who yelled that "it is just l store policy, ma'am" while not looking at me, and throwing his arm to point at either me or the door. That level of aggression and rudeness is unacceptable. Especially since I was treated that way without saying anything. That it was over a dangerous store policy is even more egregious. Thankfully, there are a great many options for buying equipment. read more

This was the worst music/guitar store I have ever been to. Some of the workers at the store are very hostile. When you go in the door you are greeted with a box of gloves and a wide range of guitars. When I entered the establishment they were very hostile towards my group of people and asked one of them to put there mask on while they were putting there gloves on! Common sense is not evident in some of these employees at this store. What kind of guitar store asks you to put gloves on? The tone is in the fingers and if you are not able to play with your fingers you might as well look at the guitar. Not to mention the intimidation of the employees made it a very negative area to look and shop for musical equipment. There are much nicer sanitation measures to use for a music store than putting on gloves. I would recommend going to Sam Ash. It has the best selection of guitars and instruments in the vicinity. Please do not go to this store unless you want to be berated by hostile employees! read more

Have bought here before, will not again. They tend to have good quality gear but customer service sucks. They lost a $1000 amp sale on me yesterday (8/20/22) when the guy behind the counter was irritable, treated me like I was a child when I asked to play an expensive guitar. I asked what they would take on a trade for my Peavey Classic 50 which I had in the car, and even though he easily could have given me a range because I know they must buy a ton of them, he made me lug it in (I realize they have to see something before they make an offer so this alone was not so bad, more his dismissive attitude about it). I lugged it in and explained that the reverb tank needed replaced. He said they can't take gear that's not perfect, okay please give me some guidelines first then. I told him I was still interested in the Princeton I had been looking at (srsly, I was ready to whip out my card). Instead of asking more questions he hopped on a personal call and talked for 5 minutes about where he and his buddies were going to eat. They also seem to be germaphobes. I took out a clean paper towel from my pocket and set it on the stool while I grabbed a pick, and he swooped in with a waste basket and looked annoyed saying "Need to throw something away?".....um, no it's clean. I always carry one. Again, not a big deal by itself but this location has been on edge about wiping everything down...like, even weird by COVID standards. Hey, a private business has the right to discourage customers from buying, I suppose. When he got off the phone I waited for another 15 minutes while he gave my spot to someone else, and then I just left. Sweetwater makes it easy to give them my money. read more

Buyer Beware. I purchased a used guitar from this store. They hired a very nice photographer to show off the look of their gear. They also claim they take used guitars through a 50 point inspection but they actually don't repair anything they find. The guitar I purchased had really bad fret buzzing and the pickups were about to fall off and I had to pay additional money to get this fixed. The workers and the owner are pretty rude and lacked a real answer to my concerns. Not sure what the point of a 50 point inspection is if you don't fix it. Look elsewhere for your used guitar needs. read more

I've stumbled in a couple times, mainly to look for discontinued or oddball cymbals. They had an early model 22" Z power ride that I'd been looking for forever. I also like that one of the employees, Bob Fouts, is actually a respected drummer, rather than just some kid who needed a job. Ok this is hands down the best store we have in Indianapolis for gear. They are incredibly fair on trading and buying as well. Brian Bob "the hyena" Fouts is my "go to" guy there as he is knowledgeable to my needs and desires. These folks have amazing customer service. I bought a budget piece of gear from them a couple weeks ago and it turned out to be defective (through no fault of the store). I sent them a message letting them know about the issue and got a fast call back from them. They spoke with me a couple times trying to troubleshoot the issue and then finally resolved it to my satisfaction. The level of customer support over a very low-cost item really impressed me. They treated me like I was the most important customer in the world. I highly recommend this store. read more
