The place is a little dumpy. More of a storage unit that a rehearsal space. It works in a pinch I guess.

In a nutshell: Hidden recording studio in Redondo Beach…read more I came here to record a track for the band WAR with members of the USC marching band. We never think things like this are a big deal, but it is cool to say that we did it to others. Total Access has recorded a few names that have come up over the years. In particular, the band Great White (Love the hair metal). They've also recorded awesome punk bands like Unwritten Law, Pennywise, and the kinda popular Sublime and No Doubt....kinda popular. The recording techs here are very experienced and professional. They knew how to work with our setup, and how to mic us properly to get the best possible sound for the producers. Unfortunately, I don't think the producers for WAR (or one of them at least) knew what they were talking about, but the techs accommodated them and allowed for us to record at a very high level of quality. There is a lounge with a TV, and a kitchen in case you are here for the long haul. They even offered us drinks from their fridge, which was totally cool because those Monster energy drinks saved some of our butts. Note to recording engineers: If you have full-time teachers coming in to record, give them some energy drinks so they are not cranky....it was a lifesaver. Nearby within walking distance: 7-eleven Circle K Pancho's Tacos Overall we had a great experience here, and I will definitely consider this for future ventures in my own work. Not sure about the pricing, as we were not paying for the session. Thanks Total Access!

He is able to do great work on numerous genres of music from rap to Latin to rock. I would most definitely refer anyone I know looking for a good recording studio to come to Nick at Suburban Soul. He loves what he does and knows his stuff. His pricing is fair as well. The studio is spacious, clean and comfortable. There's wifi and a little kitchen area for those long hours of hanging around between recording. If you're in a band or a solo musician looking for a new place to lay down some tracks, please check out Nick at Suburban Soul. Nick coordinated the mixing with band members scattered across the country with aplomb. Not only did he get the sound we wanted, he made a few key suggestions that really helped with certain songs. Further, he was able to work with our schedule and still produce a product that we were really proud of. I would definitely recommend Nick and Suburban Soul to anyone in the area. As a matter of fact, even though I'm in Northern CA now, if I needed to record, I might just travel down to work with him again.

The studio owner and recording engineer is highly knowledgable and friendly. The studio staff are all very helpful and organized. Everybody really cares about their craft. The space itself is beautifully built and invites creativity. The atmosphere is relaxed but professional. There are several rooms for recording. As a drummer, most of my time is spent in the main room. The Hear No Evil team sets up sessions quickly while maintaining a positive atmosphere. My recording process has always gone smoothly. There are a wide range of instruments, microphones, and amps to choose from and the staff will help recommend what to use for the best result. If it's a longer session, there is a microwave and fridge to heat/store some food. Parking is on-site, free, and abundant. I give Hear No Evil my highest recommendation!

As an artist paying for studio time, that's incredibly distracting and disrespectful. I did not feel valued as a client. After leaving, I was repeatedly asked to rebook, instead of being asked how the session went. Bad vibes kill creativity. I would never go back. UPDATED Feb 1-11:24pm After leaving this review, the owner Elliot messaged me AGAIN on Instagram. Took zero accountability and only cares about his image. NOT the client. To address your comment, I asked for a discount, cuz your interns run the session. As Indie artists we have to fight to protect a space we paid for. Often times we don't have other options in the area so we suck it up, but no more! This is not a good studio. I would not go back. Look at how he responds to feedback...
