Nick is the senior engineer at Suburban Soul Studios and he is awesome. I've spent many hours hanging out at the studio, observing him working and helping clients through the recording process. He is able to do great work on numerous genres of music from rap to Latin to rock. I would most definitely refer anyone I know looking for a good recording studio to come to Nick at Suburban Soul. He loves what he does and knows his stuff. His pricing is fair as well. The studio is spacious, clean and comfortable. There's wifi and a little kitchen area for those long hours of hanging around between recording. If you're in a band or a solo musician looking for a new place to lay down some tracks, please check out Nick at Suburban Soul. Aaaaand as a Yelp user with over 700 reviews, you can trust me on this one :) read more

I worked with Nick a couple years ago on a rather difficult project. While we laid down the instrumentals in the studio, I went to record my vocals in Seattle. Nick coordinated the mixing with band members scattered across the country with aplomb. Not only did he get the sound we wanted, he made a few key suggestions that really helped with certain songs. Further, he was able to work with our schedule and still produce a product that we were really proud of. I would definitely recommend Nick and Suburban Soul to anyone in the area. As a matter of fact, even though I'm in Northern CA now, if I needed to record, I might just travel down to work with him again. read more

I've been going to Nick at Suburban Soul Studios for over 5 years -- he has mixed the music I've produced and recorded at home and has recorded voice-over artists for me at the studio. Not only does Nick deliver the goods when it comes to technically making productions sound their best, he has great musical and creative instincts and always has suggestions to make my tracks artistically better. Even if I'm stumped, he'll have a thought that will at the very least spark a new idea in my mind. It's like getting an extra, ridiculously knowledgeable artistic collaborator in addition to a sound engineer. But, unlike my other collaborators, Nick isn't satisfied with a production until I'm satisfied, and he will patiently work with me to this end. When it comes to getting things just right, Nick is very precise. For example, there have often been little flaws in the vocal tracks I've recorded myself that I and others hadn't noticed. Nick will work his magic and voila, I'll hear the difference and can't believe I was going to accept the way things were. Nick is extremely organized, responsive and professional, and yet he maintains a chill vibe that makes him easy to work with. He made all five of my voice-over actors -- all possessing varying levels of industry experience -- feel extremely comfortable in and out of the vocal booth. I believe this helped tremendously in getting the performances I wanted, and it was obvious that everyone had a blast and would, like me, come record here again in a heartbeat. read more

Charlie is impeccable. He is a very warm person and engineer dedicated to his craft and putting out the best sound. He is hands down the best all around sound man I've had the pleasure of working with and I'm so excited for our future working together. The studio is first class btw. And his open vibe just makes everything so much easier. I just needed him to track vocals, but he also offered his opinion very kindly, NOT PUSHY AT ALL...I cannot stress this enough as I've dealt with engineers who have flat out told me who they wanted me to be and sound like, but Charlie was super awesome! For every suggestion, he was either spot on about something I had overlooked or we were right in sync. I am very thankful to have found this engineer/ studio thanks to yelp. Didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! read more

Charlie is an awesome engineer and a great producer. He really was able to get the most out of us when we recorded our EP at his studio. He combines his expertise with an easy going demeanor that really makes working with him a pleasure, yet he still manages to crack the whip and get a good take out of you :D. Samples of his recording and mixing genius can be heard at myspace.com/jmdband and myspace.com/jasonarimoto I look forward to doing a full length project at Suburban Soul Studios in the near future! read more

Charlie and Nick are by far the best producers and engineers to work with. The atmosphere in this studio is so positive. There are constant upgrades being made to the studio itself. My band has recorded many times and every time gets better. Nick and Charlie have such a great work ethic. I would recommend this studio to anyone and everyone. The studio is always clean and in a quiet part of Torrance so there isn't a bunch of distractions outside. This studio should really get a 10 out of 10. read more

Great guys hear. Really commited to making my project work.

Charlie Park is great to work with. He's easygoing and has good ideas about how to improve each song, even if that means adding tracks that he plays himself. I am not a great musician but once Charlie gets done with messing with my stuff, it sounds good enough to play on the radio-- I've had 12 songs that have been played on various stations. He also works very efficiently and packs a lot of improvement into each hour. If I lived in California, I would definitely still be working with him. Mahwah Paterson read more

Can't say enough about Charlie and his team at Suburban Soul - I and my boyfriend are amateur artists who have other day jobs but enjoy recording the best music we can produce. Charlie brings his tremendous expertise, talent, and feedback to every session (I've worked with him on five different songs now), and our music is infinitely better for it. He delivers a top-notch product no matter who you are - a total beginner looking to do a one-time project, a trained musician who wants to do professional-quality work recreationally (that's us!), or a seasoned professional used to working with the best. Everyone is welcome and treated with the utmost care and professionalism. The studio itself is absolutely beautiful, with an extensive gear list, a grand piano, separate vocal booth, huge live room, and hip hang-out areas for those long hours of recording. I've been around to a few studios in LA proper before this, only to discover that the best studio for us was right in our backyard in Torrance! Thank you so much Charlie - we will see you again soon! read more
