I rented a Viola for my daughter from the Crofton location for 2 years. I came into the Waldorf location because we moved down here and we found this location to be wonderful! We needed a book for my daughter for school and they were able to order it for me, cheaper than Amazon might I add. I'd rather keep my business local when possible. As I spoke with Brian he was very knowledgeable and guided me through the process to use my rental credit to the purchase of a new Viola for my daughter. We have been back to the store a few times and they always greet us immediately and make us feel welcomed and like a valued customer. Brian has been my go-to and I look forward to our next visit. I decided to check out this store one day just to see if they could help me find a piano tuner. I loved the atmosphere there was cool music playing and it felt creative. There were people coming for lessons others playing the guitars just a really nice vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful. I returned a couple of weeks later with my granddaughter she's interested in a keyboard. Caleb was so helpful and helped us weigh the pros and cons of each of the options offered. He even played my favorite song through those fantastic speakers by Fats Waller. We left pleased with our decision. read more

I walked into Music & Arts store with no intention of buying a cello. I informed Brian, the salesman, I was just shopping prices & not to bother w me. Brian made me his priority & went in the back to retrieve a cello I could "play." I had never played the cello so he helped me comfortably figure out how to play. Brian set aside this cello until I decided whether or not I could afford it. This generous act convinced me this was the place for me. After numerous visits to the store I was finally able to buy the cello Brian had shown me. He was a wonderfully knowledgeable, friendly & charming salesman. Brian was very helpful. I have been looking for an Sg electric. I have been looking at Epiphones on different websites. Brian just sold me an new SG, same model Guitar Center had for $70 (sale price) more and Amazon had for $160+ more. I may give 5 stars once received. A part of me doesn't believe what going in and just talking to a guy resulted in. I am incredulous that what I just purchased will show up, but Brian pointed out that they are brick/mortar just bring it in if something not right. My wife just gave me grief over buying another guitar....well worth it! read more

Just walked into this store today with my child around 1pm to get an instrument and although there were several people working there, not ONE of them asked us if we needed any help. None of them were helping customers at the time, the place was practically empty. We even walked up to the register and the two people working beyond the counter were talking to each other and never once acknowledged us. We walked out due to lack of customer service. I guess we won't be spending any money with this store. read more

I came in to purchase some equipment for christmas for my son. I asked the sales person (Caleb) about a specific item (mouth piece). Caleb handed to me and then tried to pass off the incorrect mouth piece for the instrument I needed. When I ask Caleb again does he have the proper equipment I need Caleb says to me " You know these items do! cost a lot of money" Excuse me... In the whole conversation up to that point I never asked about any price because in the first place you dont even have what I'm looking for. How Dare! imply that I am unable to afford, or purchase what I was looking for because YOU Caleb think because of the way I look and am dressed in your eyes I don't have that much money... I will never step foot into this establishment EVER AGAIN! read more

I called the store, a person answered the phone, I had a specific item in mind, the person directed my call to a gentleman named Brian. Brian was very knowlegeable, I can tell he's a professional musician just by the way he knew all the ptoducts that compared to the product I was seeking, (which was a guitar cabinet.) Brian took his time explaining the differences, even as I could sense he was having a busy day at his store by the voices in the background. While on the phone with me, I heard him tell a customer, "Welcome to our store, I will be with you in a few minutes." That said ALOT right there, that he wasnt ignoring somebody while talking to me. Then after going over all my options about the equipment I needed, he said "If you'd like time to think and compare, i will be here all week for any more questions, even if you dont buy it from us, I just want you to make the best decision for your needs and that the sound that youre trying to acheive will be Spot On!" That really made an impression upon me that he wanted to really help. It was very refreshing! So I ordered it, and Im very happy with it, I got the best advice, and I will certainly shop there again and ask for Brian. read more

This started off as a gift from my wife But when something happened where I couldn't make it there they continue to take money out of our account and still is I was planning on going back But If this is how they plan to treat customers Then I'd rather take lessons off of the YouTube Which I've actually found out to be better They refuse to give us our money back Or to stop charging us So I guess we will be going to court . read more

I was pretty concerned when they bought hot licks that Waldorf had lost its only decent guitar shop, and boy was i right. Walk in to this place and the first thing you notice is that they have virtually nothing that hot licks had. the guitar section has been dwindled down to maybe two shelves and 4 or 5 guitars on the wall. I went in here for a simple purchase, guitar picks, but their selection should make them embarrassed to call themselves a music store. who would have thought that a music store wouldn't carry purple dunlops? the picks i have been buying from hot licks for 17 years are now nowhere to be found in waldorf. When i asked a salesperson if they had any picks anywhere else, they acted like it was a strange thing for a guitar player to want something other than the 3 types of picks they carry which are very thin(pretty sure this store has never even heard of a bass guitar). when i asked if there was another music store around they said "there's one in la plata, but they're extremely over priced." One does not have the right to insult their competition when they can't even compete. So unfortunately I now have to travel to La Plata for simple guitar needs like picks and strings, and that is a crying shame. I will never set foot in this place again. Here's hoping one day a decent music shop opens in waldorf again. read more

We have had nothing but issues with this store. A book order was placed and after over a month, several calls, and several promises to have the book in hand, we never received the book. Rented 3 instruments. Returned 1 because they gave us the wrong size. Returned one after we were finished. We are repeatedly charged for all 3 rentals even though we only have one instrument. We have to fight for our refunds. We will be returning our third rental early and finding another store to rent from. Not worth the headache or our time. Too bad there are no negative star options for this review. read more

I LOVE this store. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about. I rented a trumpet for my son for 2 years. I had one issue they offered me a new one with no issues. The sales associate Brain was amazing when I went in to get my sons trumpet valve fixed. He told me in a non aggressive sales way. They had a deal deal going on called Up grade your sound and I got a new Giardinelli trumpet which was only 5 dollars more a month than the current Jupiter one I was renting. They have super affordable rates for lessons and rentals. The trumpet I bought my son will last him through High School it can with cleansing cloth and oil and a awesome case that even turns into a book bag. The only thing you have to buy separate is the mouth piece. I recommend Music and Arts to any one that is need of anything to do with music. read more

I went to Music and Arts trying to purchase a flute for my daughter. I know nothing about flutes. Tony and Brian were so patient and helpful with me. I went in the store pretty close to closing and never did I feel like they were rushing me. They took time to show me different choices and explain the difference between the one's I selected. I was the one checking the time on my phone. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal but customer service isn't what it used to be and I left there with a smile thinking finally a business that care about their customers. Wow! Absolutely loved my experience at Music & Arts. Really the BEST customer service in all of Waldorf! The salesperson Brian will give you all options, so you can make your best decisions on what to buy. Not overbearing. Just expert knowledge not only on instruments but recommending any accessories to give you the best chance for success playing your instrument. Observing somebody at work, you get a chance to witness character. While I was at the store, I also saw him help someone looking for guitar strings as he simultaneously explained in detail how music lessons work there. Then saw him quietly tune up a customer's violin while taking an incoming call. Quite frankly, I was really impressed by Brian's efforts helping me find drum equipment. He patiently listened and took the time to explain things. I really wish all retail stores had total experts like this guy. He does much more than sell people things. Brian helps people. My daughter and I were browsing the local area for a new alto saxophone. We happened to come across Music & Arts in our search. The owner and other staff members were very friendly and knowledgeable. Being that they had their grand opening 4 weeks ago, a few of the kinks are still being worked on, but that did not stop the owner from finding a plan B. From our experience, I would recommend this store for anyone's music needs. read more
