She did a good job of moving to different parts of the room to demonstrate the steps because the room was a little narrow and long so sometimes hard to see her with people in the way. I hadn't danced in a while so this class was good as a refresher If you are absolutely new to dance, the class might have been harder to follow. That being said, there were people of all levels in the class and it was really fun. Our choreo was to 50 cent " In Da Club". I plan to try another class and recommend this if you want to have a lot of fun and dance!

I found DivaDance in a random Google search of dance classes in the area, and my expectations have been absolutely surpassed in every sense. DivaDance is such a wonderful community, and every class is such a comfortable and judgement free zone (which is important when you are throwing it down and shamelessly trying new moves & choreo). DivaDance has been amazing for my work-life balance, and for pushing my homebody self to step away from my computer, get moving / trick my body into exercising, and meet new people!! As a side note, DivaDance classes always feature really amazing & wonderful women, as a woman in STEM I don't see a small number in my daily life, so dance has always been my favorite way to meet more diverse sets of people, and DivaDance has certainly been a great source of this in my life since they value empowerment and confidence.

Literally on maps & google the place had said OPEN, so i was very irritated about that.. I went next door to a hair salon spoke with them to see what's going on and they literally agreed it's unprofessional to have things that way... I have called multiple times before arriving with no answer (just assuming they were busy) ofc since they were reading OPEN online... Anyway, after so many attempts to reach her or someone who works there at all, I don't get a call an hear back from the owner until 4pm and it was 11:50 when i arrived at her studio!!!!!!! I explained to her that i just moved back to DC from ATL.. So knowing anything beyond what a normal person would see, i would have no idea of. However, I was recommended her studio by a friend and wanted to give a try. I also let her know how i even caught a uber there an back which totaled $54 with change. Now her response to everything??? Very nonchalant she didn't seem to care until i expressed myself further, letting her know how unprofessional that is to have your studio say open when it's indeed closed. Also when i started to record our phone call LOL SHE FELT VERY GUILTY.. I even started to ask her politely how do she plan on compensating me moving forward from this situation beings though i was interested in starting there.. Whether it be my first class free etc. But she literally went back to the beginning like ABC pretending to not understand

Hmmm.... where do I start?…read more Oh I know.... F'king AMAZING!!!!!!! First off, let me start by saying... this is my first day back into my fitness journey....I had a relative do a private aerial yoga class with her so that is how I was able to find this hidden gem. COVID: the studio is clean and she does check and record your temperature. She offers hand sanitizer before and after class. Dawn's energy is electric and her studio has a "Girlfriends" vibes. As a newbie in her class, she introduced each of us, remembering names and birthday months. Her yoga class is more of a journey of self-love, affirmation and meditation, which is much needed in my life. She encourages you to move at your pace (which I appreciate especially because I haven't exercised since March). Once the yoga class was over we enjoyed a cup of hot tea (lavender and mint). I decided to stay and experience Barre, Buttz & Gutz... BABY, I was NOT ready for this!! LOL! It's a high energy and fast pace! Even though, I am out of shape and the first 15 mins left me wanting to tap out... I pushed through! I am looking forward to attending classes from here on out. Please look up this studio and sign up for a class or 2 or 3! Oh... not that this matters or anything... but Dawn's physique is aspiring..... I am happy to have found a fitness home! Thank you so much Dawn and see you next week!

You sign up for 1 month at a time of 4 weekly classes, and the price is pretty affordable. Jen is our teacher and she does a good job making sure we learn good technique and progressively build on what we learned to get better. The community of people who dance here is nice and friendly. They have socials on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 6 pm, and they are a very low-key atmosphere where everyone is just there to learn and have fun. My husband and I also took bachata wedding lessons here with Michelle and she helped us put together a great first dance!

Mateo is warm, patient, and his intuitive approach made us feel at ease. His guidance not only boosted our confidence on the dance floor but helped us stay confident, and connected throughout the day in front of the cameras (looking photographic too with all those practice dips & posture tips too!) When we struggled with certain steps in the routine, he listened and adapted, finding alternatives that suited us. Beyond preparing us for our first dance, Mateo gave us with tools to stay connected leading up to our wedding. His lessons turned stressful days into moments of joy. We left every session feeling ready to take on whatever came our way. And we know we will be using them for a lifetime. We couldn't have asked for a better instructor or investment in our wedding. And yes, the dance went beautifully. We looked amazing, but Mateo gave us so much more than a great show for our guests.

Armed with a 7-day free…read moretrial, I signed up for 4 Zumba classes throughout the week to see if they fit with my schedule and if I liked the instructors and the studio. Here's what I found: --The Zumba instructors are great. I took classes with Margo and Tonya, and I really liked both of them. I signed up for a class with Petra, but they cancelled the class because they were having some event. I took a class with her at a different studio, though, and she is also great. Lots of energy and fun dance moves that make you forget that you're getting a workout. --The studio itself is wonderful. Located just a block from the Metro and a couple of bus stops, it is just upstairs from Lee's Flower Shop. The layout is perfect, although it is narrower at one end than the other. Tons of windows for light and fresh air, a nice waiting area and the nicest staff. They also have a water cooler so you can fill up your water bottle. The only thing I would add is a changing room. There are two bathrooms, but no space just for changing. --The price for a membership is probably the best deal in DC. About $40/month for an annual membership (and if you sign up by the end of May, they will waive the $40 enrollment fee) or about $50/month for a 6-month membership, and you can take unlimited classes. If you don't want the commitment, a 10-class pass is $130. But the membership is a total steal. I felt like I found the perfect place in DC, but there is one problem that I can't get over that is the only thing stopping me from becoming a member - the timing of their classes. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, their first evening class (the one I want to take) starts at 6pm. That is usually the time I leave the office, but sometimes I have to leave later than that. I wish their classes started just 30 minutes later. It would make it easier to actually make it to class. In all, Work it! is a great place to get your groove on and get a workout if you can make it to class on time. It's a little gem on U Street.

I've taken six classes and now I wish the summer wouldn't end! I've tried WandaWoman dance (twice), tai chi, the weekend bootcamp, bollywood dance fitness, and pilates mat fusion. The WandaWoman dance class is my favorite, with its hip-hop dance party vibe. There is always a diverse crowd -- you can even find a fly 60+ year old (or three) giving the younger participants a run for their money! Overall I have really enjoyed my time at Work It! Studio. If I'm back in town next summer I will definitely buy another 10-class pass.
