I want to share my experience for anyone who has the option to avoid this business moving forward. I cannot say the issue is with the local store, but can say that the company is not well organized and my experience shows that they take their customers for granted. I ordered an item for rent from the corporate web site. The resulting email confirmation indicated "A store associate will call you when your rental is ready to be picked up. Please allow 48 hours for processing." When two weeks passed and no call came, I called the toll-free number in the email and was told the item would ship very soon and I could expect a call shortly. After two more weeks, I called again and customer service told me to call the store directly as they should have the item in stock. What?! I have in writing that I should wait for a call, then am told the item is there all along? In the meantime, my daughter's music lessons are over and she had no instrument the entire time. The customer service rep informed me that I should have called the store first. Really? You have a corporate web site. You have an email that gets generated with instructions on how to proceed. Now it's the customer's duty to know your processes, as well as the fact that you provide inaccurate documentation? I call the store and sure enough, I am told they have the item in stock. I explained what happened and was offered an apology. I find apologies without action are meaningless, so asked what he intended to do to make this better for the future. He suggested I speak to a manager at the store. I told him the issue was with the (likely) boilerplate instructions in the email from the corporate web site. He suggested I call them. I explained that I do not work for them, so why should I waste more of my time correcting their issue. They should identify the problem, work to resolve it, and thank me for being so gracious. I have had the best experience from this store! From the time I walked in the employees were so nice and very helpful. My son is starting lessons here and we had a meet and greet with the teachers and it was awesome! Would Definitely recommend the store read more

I purchased a digital piano from this location on October 3rd. I was told to expect the piano to arrive at the store for pick within a week or two. I called after the first week, since there was no charge on my card, to get a status update. I was told that I should get a tracking number by the next Friday at which point I should see a charge for the piano. Friday came (2 weeks at this point) I called again since there was no charge, nor did receive a tracking number via email. The customer service rep from the company then informs me that the piano won't be in their warehouse until February. WTH Why are you selling products that you don't have in your warehouse? Why aren't you upfront with the customers so they can make informed decisions before making a purchase? Unacceptable! read more

I teach piano in the area and find it very easy to come in here and get whatever I may need. Sometimes they have to order it but it always comes quickly. Staff seem helpful & knowledgeable. Always come in to a warm welcome. Never had an issue w/ them. read more

Just to share my experience to help others. I took in a clarinet to Music and Arts in Broomall last May for a full refurbishment. It was an older, high end, Buffet clarinet that my daughter was going to learn to use in the school band. No one could tell us how long it would take. We ended up getting it back at the beginning of July, only to send it back because one needed a vice to pull it apart. Clerks at the store were sympathetic, but were of no help. They said they would send it back out for repairs and see if the corks could be shaved down. We got it back a month later in the same condition; still could barely take it apart. In a nutshell, we were given a lot of excuses about their repair shop - one technician down, all the rentals coming back at the end of the school year, but no customer service for us, only a crappy loaner clarinet to use. I wonder if we hadn't called them on a weekly basis if our clarinet would still be in the shop? We paid about $375 for what seemed like a few new pads. My daughter also signed up for clarinet lessons, and after 3 lessons, her clarinet teacher, who was great, ended up going on tour. There were no other teachers that my daughter could go to. After several calls to the store about a refund to our credit card for lessons paid in advance, I was finally helped by Joe, who was able to take care of the credit. I am writing this review now, as we just had some of the keys come loose. These keys were never loose to begin with, so we now had to put more money out to fix the clarinet after spending almost $400, and four months in the shop. We took the clarinet to a repairman in Springfield who told us we definitely got "hooched"! He fixed the clarinet in 4 days, costing us $60. My daughter told me how great it feels to play and sounds so much better. He even fixed the cork issue. At least there's a happy ending to our months of frustration! read more

I am beyond enraged and shocked at the customer service at the Music & Arts in Broomall. Let me give you the back story. I bought a ukulele at the Exton location that sold me a faulty instrument with bad pickups. So I returned it to the Broomall location, and received wonderful customer service by a guy named Jay. He was knowledgeable, and happy to help me find the perfect uke. Well, I took this one home and found it wasn't a good fit for me so I decided to take it back not thinking a big deal of it since Jay said if it didn't work for some reason, I still had 30 days to return it. So I go back tonight, hoping to see Jay but there was another guy at the counter named Philip whose first reaction to my exchange with rolled eyes, and a condescending face as if I were some peasant for not loving this OK ukulele. I told him it was my second exchange and his response was "if you don't like anything that's not our fault." When asked what I didn't like about it, as I explained, again he made those faces then preceded to have no clue what he was doing and called over a young girl named Isabella for assistance. They asked if I was the one who had returned (the first ukulele) that they had on the wall saying "Well we tried it, and the electronics work just fine." Despite all the attitude I received, I said that if that first Uke worked, I'll take it, but I want to see it tested first. So the guys go off to test it while the girl helped me and guess what? The electronics did NOT work. (YET THEY STILL HAD IT ON THEIR SHELVES FOR SALE.) I inquired about their warehouse stock being the same as Guitar Center and if I could use the refunded money to purchase a Uke there. The girl snarkily said that I could just go to guitar center and test out the ukes before buying one here. At this point, I'm done doing business with them and just want my money back which of course has to only be in a gift card form. Probably recognizing that she fucked up, the girl apologizes for the faulty equipment and offers a discount and I said it's not the instruments I have a problem with, it's (repeated what Philip said to me.) and that I'd like the manager's number. She acted all shocked, which I find funny. She said "hope you have a good rest of your night" and I replied with "hope you work on your customer service. That's not a good thing to hear." As I walked out, guy again rolled his eyes and gave a half-assed "sorry." That is the last time I ever step foot into a Music & Arts after being a loyal customer for many years. If they think this kind of treatment is acceptable, they're about to get a huge wake up call when I talk to their manager. I plan on letting everyone I know, in person and online, about the condescending and poor customer service these people who work here think is OK. From someone who was so excited about pursuing something that meant a lot to me, I am disheartened and very hurt. I have spent a lot of money and time at this franchise, and believe me they will never be endorsed again. Hire competent employees. read more

I typically don't write reviews but I feel the need to do so in this case. My child has been a student here for years an has the most amazing teacher. He is talented and connects well with students allowing my typically shy child to advance and enjoy lessons. Cannot say enough wonderful things about Dustin! Dustin deserves 5 stars but I only chose three due to my dissatisfaction with the staff in the front of the store. My issue lies in the rude condescending attitude of much of the non-teaching staff. Most of them are fairly young however this is not an excuse. They seem to be completely unaware of the fact that they are being paid to service customers... without an attitude. I had an incident previously regarding the return of an item. After spending thousands on lessons and instruments, The staff refused the return of an item they had recommended which was totally inappropriate for the intended purpose. They were argumentative and it was not until I requested a record of how much I'd spent over the years there along with a request for management involvement that they agreed to refund the purchase. This took several phone calls and two visits to the store to accomplish. All over a $50 return. A recent phone call to advise that we would miss a lesson was treated as a major inconvenience for the person that answered. While trying to greet the person & identify myself, I was interrupted and told that they are closed and asked what I wanted. Really? Why are you taking calls if only to advise callers that you are closed. It would have been a much more pleasant experience to leave a voicemail. Again, I was shocked at the rude nature of the staff. Clearly there is some training needed. If it weren't for My child's teacher, I would not do business with this company. read more
