In the Miami Design District is a seven story cast concrete parking garage that is also a work of art. Named the Museum Garage, you can find it across the street from the Institute of Contemporary Art. In 2015, Miami Design District developer Craig Robins hired architect and curator Terence Riley to create the design for the garage. Riley took his inspiration from the French surrealist parlor game Exquisite Corpse. To play the game artists draw an image without knowing what anyone else has drawn. The pictures are then assembled into one composition. Riley commissioned five architectural firms to create different parts of the garage. All the firms were allowed to create whatever they wanted without any regard to what anyone else was going to make. The pieces were then put together in an architectural version of the game. WORKac designed the part of the garage facing 1st Avenue. Their "Miami pink" piece titled Ant Farm "celebrates social interaction, sustainability, art, music, and the landscape." It is meant to be a human ant colony with a garden, a lending library, art space, and playground behind a perforated metal screen. Next to Ant Farm is Hugs and Kisses by J. Mayer H. It is created out of giant interlocking puzzle pieces. XOX moves westward across the building along 41st Street. Across the garage exit and entrance is Serious Play by Nicolas Buffe. Inspired by Buffe's childhood love of video games and Japanese animation. black and white cartoon figures and graphics cover this portion of the building. Four 23-foot-tall sculptures serve as pillars adorning the building. Clavel Arquitectos's Urban Jam is an eye catching 45 true to size gold and silver cars up down and across the building in a Tetris style traffic jam. The art piece titled Barricades by K/R takes its inspiration from Miami's orange and white traffic barriers. The idea of the barriers have been turned into a orange and white screen with concrete stainless steel windows from which concrete planters pop out. The garage holds 800 cars and It is only $3 for up to four hours, $6 for up tp 6 hours, and $25 all day. The garage operates on a unique contactless system. You park your car and take note of your license plate. You can pay for parking online or at a kiosk in the lobby and your plate is scanned and the gate opens automatically on your way out. Inside the garage are electric charging stations advertising the Tesla store is right across the street. If you can't find a spot in this fabulous garage, no worries. This garage is one of four parking garages in the Miami Design District that are part of the trend called parkitecture, art meets parking. The garages makes you think in new way about something that is generally taken for granted. The Miami Design District has so many fun surprises to discover nd the Museum garage is just the start of them.

The first time I used this garage was to take a picture of my car... I liked the top floor! The second time was when I was going to get dinner at Contessas. When I tell you I couldn't find my car because I forgot what way I came out of was frustrating remember to know what way you came out of & use that same entrance.

A must see when you visit the design District? Why? Because you will never ever see a car park like this that's why. Let the photographs I have shared speak for themselves. Located at the Miami Design District, Museum Garage is the world's most unique parking garage. The garage has five components to it, all individual designs, that kind of clash but also go together. Here is some information regarding it - Ant Farm by WORKac - At the corner of NE 1st Avenue and NE 41st Street in the Design District, the work of the New York firm WORKac meets that of Berlinbased J.MAYER.H. WORKac's façade - titled Ant Farm - faces 1st Avenue and celebrates social interaction, sustainability, art, music, and the landscape. In an ant colony-inspired display of human activity, miniaturized public spaces - a garden, a lending library, art space, and playground - and their connecting circulation spaces appear and disappear behind a perforated metal screen that provides visual contrast, shade, and protection. Hugs and Kisses by J. Mayer H. - J. Mayer H.'S façade - titled XOX (Hugs and Kisses) - appears as gigantic interlocking puzzle pieces that nestle at the corner with the forms of WORKac's façade. XOX then extends westward from the corner along 41st Street. XOX's enigmatic forms, emblazoned with striping and bright colors, recall the aerodynamic forms of automotive design and appear to float above the sidewalk below. Smaller volumes, covered in metal screens project outward and are activated with embedded light at night. Serious Play by Nicolas Buffe - The next façade along 41st Street serves as the entrance and exit of the garage. It is the work of Nicolas Buffe - a French-born artist living in Japan - and is constructed with a dark perforated metal backdrop. The façade features a variety of diverse 2D and 3D elements crafted from laser-cut metals and fiber resin plastic. At street level, the façade's features four 23-foot tall, full 3D caryatids standing astride the garage's arched entrance and exits. Like the caryatids below, the composition above reflects Buffe's childhood passion for video games and Japanese animation. The result is the unexpected juxtaposition of anime, tokusatsu, and manga with Buffe's other passion - Rococo and Baroque architecture. Urban Jam by Clavel Arquitectos - In the space between Nicolas Buffe's facade and that of K/R, Spanish firm Clavel Arquitectos's Urban Jam draws from the rebirth of urban life in the Miami Design District - where old structures and discarded spaces have been revived by architectural and urban designs. Urban Jam suggests a similar "repurposing" of very familiar elements, using 45 gravity defying car bodies rendered in metallic gold and silver. In effect, the styles of years past gain a second life as lux sculptural objects, caught in a surreal vertical traffic jam. Barricades by K/R - Furthest west on 41st Street, just opposite the Institute of Contemporary Art, is Barricades, designed by New York- and Miami-based K/R. The design is inspired by Miami's automotive landscape; particularly it's ubiquitous orange and white-striped traffic barriers. In this case, the faux-barriers are turned right side up and form a brightly colored screen. The façade has fifteen "windows" framed in mirror stainless steel, through which concrete planters pop out above the sidewalk.

Such a cool use of space! I love that it's a functional (and decently priced!) garage that has these small fun elements. We parked just to wonder around the small staircases and other elements. Fun little mini adventure! I would recommend

It's a garage located in the design district. But you can slide down a netted slide on the top- to viewing plastic cars lining the side of the garage. It's very art deco! They do have hand sanitizer on the elevator which was nice! Black and white checkered design outside reminds me of the mad hatter! It's worth a stop on the way to Lincoln Road for sure!

Very cute garage for Instagram worthy pics! Cute spot to take your kids with the pink slide and stairs. I like how this is a garage and also an something unique to attract people to visit this garage. It's nice to just stop by while you are visiting the Design District!

Establishment is on tour a special display in the district very artistic the designers have made a large splash with two different sides completely different on both sides. The pics shows exactly why there are so much art being displayed

An aesthetic & cheap garage to park in within the Design District. The CUTEST garage I have ever stumbled across. I found this gem thanks to my friend Nhien. We explored the Design District together and he suggested this garage. It's $3 for 1-3 hours & $6 for 3-6 hours. That's cheap compared to $3.25/hour street parking or valet. If you're looking for parking in this area, I highly suggest this garage! Plus, if you ride the elevator all the way to the top, they have a cute area to take pics or just even look around. I took pics here for a engagement shoot I did & came back with a friend to explore and shoot some more. Beautiful bright colorful aesthetic. If you're looking for this garage, it's right across ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami) and has huge black and white seahorses at the entrance. Can't miss it!

There's a wide range of stores catering to different budgets--from typical mall stores to high-end luxury shops. The center offers a good mix of shopping including clothing stores and beauty retailers. I am not sure about the restaurants and cafes, since I have not explored the whole mall. I did see a restaurant, Starbucks, and a boba shop that I visited. I visited several stores during my trip, and overall, the service was friendly and welcoming. Dior stood out in particular, as the staff were attentive, offered samples, and created a more engaging shopping experience. The other stores I visited were also pleasant and accommodating. Overall, it's a cool place to walk around, shop, and hangout for a day.

We visited to find a specific outfit, and the variety of stores has definitely improved over time. While the mall still features many luxury retailers, it now includes more accessible options such as H&M, Zara, a smaller Abercrombie & Fitch location, Sephora, and Victoria's Secret. The mall offers great dining options along with beautiful views, and it is always lively. Tourists are often seen taking photos on the skybridge near Victoria's Secret, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. One of the most convenient features is the free Metromover, which has a stop directly at Brickell City Centre. This makes it easy to park farther away and avoid high parking costs. For those who live nearby, walking is also a great option. The open air but covered design gives the mall a modern outdoor feel while still providing comfort and a sense of safety, which is very important. In addition to shopping, there is a movie theater, an escape room, indoor golf, and other entertainment options. We stopped for a bite to eat at The Henry. Our server, Alex was attentive and provided great service. What was once a quiet space focused mainly on ultra luxury brands has transformed into a lively, well rounded destination with something for everyone.
