Calouste Gulbenkian was from a family of Armenian merchants. This museum has his exquisite carpets, ancient Roman, Greek etc coins, ancient glassware, ancient pottery, ancient tile, and a truly terrible selection of antique furniture. Mr Gulbenkian and I will have to disagree about his furniture preferences - I love his taste in everything else. The whole collection is in a gorgeous 1950's era building with gorgeous gardens and good natural light.
The cafeteria is good. Wish I could have accessed the library. read more
